Characteristics of life-cycle carbon dioxide emissions of arterial highway maintenance and the influencing factors

With the focus of highway development transitioning from construction to maintenance,a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics and influencing factors of carbon dioxide(CO_(2.)emissions from highway maintenance activities is crucial for formulating effective strategies to promote the low-carbon development of road ***,the quantitative relationships between CO_(2. emissions from highway maintenance schemes and factors such as pavement deterioration,traffic volume,and road grade remain unclear owing to a lack of compre-hensive,multi-category,and real *** real maintenance data from 340 arterial highway segments in China,this study conducts the life cycle assessment(LCA)to estimate CO_(2. emissions from maintenance activities and examines the primary emission sources among various structural layers and ***,multiple linear regression(MLR)analysis is conducted to investigate the impact of traffic volume,road grade,and pavement deterioration on CO_(2. emissions from maintenance projects,and factors influencing the early-stage degradation of pavement *** results demonstrate that average CO_(2. emissions from heavy rehabilitation projects are 6.97 times higher than those from medium rehabilitation *** from heavy rehabilitation projects exhibit a significantly negative linear relationship with the riding quality index(RQI)before maintenance(p<0.05),and emissions from medium rehabilitation projects show a significant negative linear relationship with the pavement condition index(PCI)before maintenance(p<0.05).Emissions from heavy and medium rehabilitation projects are significantly positively correlated with heavy vehicle traffic volume before maintenance(p<0.05).Moreover,the early-stage degradation of PCI after heavy rehabilitation and RQI after medium rehabilitation exhibit significantly negative linear relationships with their respective in-dicators before maintenance(p<0.05).The early-stage d

Triboelectric nanogenerator hybrid array driven by multiform natural energies and its applications in self-powered cathodic protection

In view of the increasing energy shortage and environmental pollution, the collection of friction charges to achieve the conversion of various natural energies and provide in-situ cathodic protection for metals is a significant challenge. Here, we designed a dual device-structure TENG composite array with the triboelectric layer of linear siloxane-modified polyurethane(PU) coating. This array could achieve a comprehensive collection for multiple forms of nature energy and cathodic protection of metals in multi-weather conditions. For one thing, the wave-mode TENG based on tanker structure could collect wave energy and showed the output performance with a short-circuit current of 15.5 μA. For another thing, the droplet-mode TENG based on arc-shaped surface structure could collect raindrop kinetic energy and showed the output performance with a short-circuit current of 16.3 μA. Notably, the parallel array of wave-mode TENG(W-TENG) and droplet-mode TENG(D-TENG) could simultaneously collect wave energy and raindrop kinetic energy, which showed a short-circuit current of 30.7 μA. Besides, a selfpowered a cathodic protection system powered by the dual structure TENG array is assembled and the open-circuit potential drop of the carbon steel connected with the TENG array is about 450 mV. Compared with cathodic protection system powered by single structure TENG, the composite array could provide more effective corrosion resistance for marine equipment in rainy weather. Due to the characteristic for comprehensive collection of nature energy, the anti-corrosion system supplied by TENG parallel array possesses great application potential in the all-weather corrosion protection of metal machinery under complex marine conditions.

Developing an energy supply-chain based on renewable biomass holds great potential to build a low carbon ***-energy-density(HED)jet fuel,featuring unique fused/strained cycloalkanes,is of great significance for volume-limited military aircrafts,as their high density and combustion heat can extend flight duration and increase the ***,the exploration of biomass-based routes towards HED fuel has drawn much attention over the past *** reaction features rapid construction of various carbocycles in an atom-and step-economical *** elegant strategy has been widely applied in the manufacture of sustainable HED *** we carefully summarize the progress achieved in this fascinating area and the review is categorized by the cycloaddition patterns including[4+2.,[2.2.,[4+4],and[2.1]***,the energy densities of the as-prepared biofuels and petroleumbased fuels(conventional Jet-A and advanced JP-10)are also *** review will provide important insights into rational design of new HED fuel with different ring-types/sizes and inspire the chemists to turn those literature studies into practical applications in military field.

Glaucoma surgery experiments using digital microscope-integrated optical coherence tomography and OCT-compatible instruments

There is a certain failure rate in traditional glaucoma surgery because of the lack of depth information in microscope *** this work,we present a digital microscope-integrated optical coherence tomography(MIOCT)system and several custom-made OCT-compatible instruments for glaucoma *** ophthalmologists were asked to perform trabeculectomy and canaloplasty on live porcine eyes using the system and *** surgery,a subjective feedback survey about the user experience was *** experiment results showed that our system can help surgeons easily locate important tissue structures during *** custom-made instruments also solved the shadowing problem in OCT *** preferred to use the system in their future practice.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and endophytic fungi differentially modulate polyamines or proline of peach in response to soil flooding

Symbiotic fungi are involved in plant flooding tolerance,while the underlying mechanism is not yet *** polyamines(PAs)and proline are also associated with stress tolerance,it is hypothesized that the enhancement of stress resistance by symbiotic fungi is associated with changes in PAs and/or *** aim of this study was to analyze the effect of inoculation with Funneliformis mosseae and Serendipita indica on plant growth,PAs,and proline and the metabolisms in peach(Prunus persica)under ***-week flooding did not affect root colonization frequence of ***,while it promoted root colonization frequence of *** flooding,plants inoculated with *** and *** maintained relatively higher growth rates than uninoculated *** mosseae promoted root ornithine(Orn)contentration and arginine(Arg)and Orn decarboxylase activities under flooding,which promoted putrescine(Put),cadaverine(Cad),and spermidine(Spd)***,*** decreased contentrations of Arg,Orn,and agmatine and Arg decarboxylase activities,thus decreasing PA contentrations under *** were negatively correlated with the expression of PA uptake transporter genes,PpPUT1 and PpPUT2.in *** transporter genes of ***(FmTPO)and ***(SiTPO)were regulated by flooding,of which FmTPO1 was positively correlated with Put,Cad,and Spd,along with positive correlations of Spd with SiTPO1,SiTPO2.and *** flooding,*** decreased proline concentration,while *** increased proline concentration and correlated with expression of a△^(1)-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase gene,*** was thus concluded that *** modulated polyamine accumulation,while *** induced proline accumulation to tolerate flooding.

Design and Implementation of Nonlinear Precoding for MIMO-SDMA Toward 6G Wireless

In this paper,we present a novel and robust nonlinear precoding(NLP)design and detection structure specifically tailored for multiple-input multipleoutput space division multiple access(MIMO-SDMA)systems toward 6G *** approach aims to effectively mitigate the impact of imperfect channel estimation by leveraging the channel fluctuation mean square error(MSE)for reconstructing a highly accurate precoding matrix at the ***,we introduce a simplified receiver structure that eliminates the need for equalization,resulting in reduced interference and notable enhancements in overall system *** conduct both computer simulations and experimental tests to validate the efficacy of our proposed *** results reveals that the proposed NLP scheme offers significant performance improvements,making it particularly well-suited for the forthcoming 6G wireless.

A multi-chamber oscillating water column wave energy converter(OWC-WEC)integrated to a breakwater is *** hydrodynamic characteristics of the device are analyzed using an analytical model based on the linear potential flow theory.A pneumatic model is employed to investigate the relationship between the air mass flux in the chamber and the turbine *** effects of chamber width,wall draft and wall thickness on the hydrodynamic performance of a dual-chamber OWC-WEC are *** results demonstrate that the device,with a smaller front wall draft and a wider rear chamber exhibits a broader effective frequency *** device with a chamber-width-ratio of 1:3 performs better in terms of power ***,results from the analysis of a triplechamber OWC-WEC demonstrate that reducing the front chamber width and increasing the rearward chamber width can improve the total performance of the *** the number of chambers from 1 to 2.or 3 can widen the effective frequency bandwidth.

Visual observation of photonic Floquet–Bloch oscillations

Bloch oscillations(BOs),an important transport phenomenon,have been studied extensively in static systems but remain mysterious in Floquet ***,by harnessing notions from photonic analogy,we propose a generalization of the existing BOs in photonic Floquet lattices,namely the“photonic Floquet–Bloch oscillations”,which refer to rescaled photonic Bloch oscillations with a period of extended least common multiple of the modulation period and the Bloch oscillation ***,we report the first visual observation of such photonic Floquet–Bloch oscillations(FBOs)by employing waveguide fluorescence *** significantly,the FBOs surpass the existing BOs in Floquet systems and exhibit exotic properties on their own,including fractal spectrum and fractional Floquet *** new transport mechanism offers an intriguing method of wave manipulation that may contribute to rapidly developing fields in photonics,condensed matter physics,and quantum physics.
