Low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence:A report of 3 cases

BACKGROUND Low-grade fever during convalescence is an atypical symptom of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Reports of such cases are rare,and the mechanism and outcome of low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence are not completely *** report 3 cases with low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence and highlight the main clinical,radiographic,and laboratory characteristics,thereby increasing the level of expertise in the clinical management of COVID-19 during convalescence and facilitating individualized *** SUMMARY We describe 3 patients with COVID-19,two females aged 62 and 66 years and a male 55 years,who had low-grade fever during COVID-19 *** 3 patients had no other discomfort or comorbidities during low-grade *** on computed tomography in all 3 patients had resolved during this *** patients tested negative on two consecutive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 tests with an interval of at least 24 h between *** temperature in all 3 patients returned to normal after several days without treatment,and fever recurrence was not *** Enhancing the knowledge of low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence may increase the expertise in the delivery of optimal healthcare services.

Trimetallic mesoporous PdCuRu for efficient formate electrosynthesis from polyethylene terephthalate recycling

Electrochemical recycling of waste polyethylene terephthalate（PET） plastics represents a green and sustainable route to produce valuable fuels and address serious environmental issues. Despite some encouraged achievements, their progress is still slower because of the lack of highly active and selective electrocatalysts. Here, we reported an efficient PET recycling route with trimetallic PdCuRu mesoporous nanospheres（MSs） as a high-performance electrocatalyst that achieved selective electrosynthesis of valuable formate from PET hydrolysate（PETH） electrooxidation. Penetrated metal mesopores and trimetallic compositions of PdCuRu MSs synergistically optimized electronic structures of Pd sites and changed chemisorption properties of intermediates, which disclosed a high formate Faradic efficiency of 97% and impressive yield rate of 0.49 mmol h-1cm-2in an alkaline solution. Meanwhile, this electrocatalyst held good electrocatalytic stability, retaining high formate Faradic efficiency and yield rate even being performed for 10 cycles, which highlighted its potential applications for practical PET recycling. Our study provides a powerful strategy for designing high-performance electrocatalysts toward selective electro-synthesis of valuable fuels from various waste plastics.

Dear Editor,Phenotypic drug discovery,which observes compound effects on physiology,has given way to targeting specific molecules,but has revived by using modern methods to find drugs based on therapeutic outcomes in disease models(Vincent et al.,2022).Osteoarthritis(OA)is a prevalent chronic joint disorder,primarily affecting knee joints,with osteoclast activation due to low-grade inflammation resulting in increased bone resorption and structural changes in the joint(Katz et al.,2021).This imbalance and the discharge of inflammatory mediators perpetuate the cycle of inflammation and tissue ***,controlling inflammation and modulating osteoclastogenesis are critical therapeutic targets for managing OA.

The reform stems from honesty and determination. Since 2005, organ donation and transplantation in China has undergone thorough reform, which complies with legislation requirements and ethical principles established by the World Health Organization(WHO). Reform in China has demonstrated the unwavering confidence and utmost determination of the Chinese government and the Chinese transplantation community. The year 2015 marked a historic turning point when voluntary donations from Chinese citizens became the sole legitimate source for organ transplantation. Since 2015, China has gradually established and refined the “Chinese Mode” and “China System” for organ donation and transplantation, fulfilling its political pledge of reform, and has garnered international recognition, and fostered a social culture which promotes organ donation. This article reviewed the history of reform on organ donation and transplantation in China, presented a new pattern of establishment of organ donation system in the new era of the country, and the direction of advances in the future.

The accumulation and transfer of Pb,Zn,Cu,and Cd along a soil-plant-insect-chicken food chain at contaminated sites were *** study site nearing the Pb/Zn mine had been contaminated by heavy metals *** and Pb concentrations steadily declined with increasing trophic level（p 〈 0.01）,but concentrations of Zn and Cu slightly increased from plant to insect larva（p 〉 0.05）.The concentrations of heavy metals were the highest in chicken muscle,with lower values in liver and *** bioaccumulation of Pb was observed in chicken *** eliminations of Pb,Zn,Cu,and Cd via insect and chicken feces avoid metal bioaccumulation in insect and chicken *** results suggest that the accumulation of heavy metals in specific animal organ of tissues could not be neglected,although transfer of metals to chicken from plant and insect was limited.

BACKGROUND There is a lack of clinical evidence on the efficacy and safety of transitioning from a thrice-daily pre-mixed insulin or basal-prandial regimen to insulin degludec/aspart(IDegAsp)therapy,with insufficient data from the Chinese *** To demonstrate the efficacy,safety,and treatment satisfaction associated with the transition to IDegAsp in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).METHODS In this 12-week open-label,non-randomized,single-center,pilot study,patients with T2DM receiving thrice-daily insulin or intensive insulin treatment were transitioned to twice-daily injections of insulin *** doses,hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)levels,fasting blood glucose(FBG),hypoglycemic events,a Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire,and other parameters were assessed at baseline and *** This study included 21 participants.A marked enhancement was observed in the FBG level(P=0.02),daily total insulin dose(P=0.03),and overall diabetes treatment satisfaction(P<0.01)in the participants who switched to *** was a decrease in HbA1c levels(7.6±1.1 vs 7.4±0.9,P=0.31)and the frequency of hypoglycemic events of those who switched to IDegAsp decreased,however,there was no statistically significant *** The present findings suggest that treatment with IDegAsp enhances clinical outcomes,particularly FBG levels,daily cumulative insulin dose,and overall satisfaction with diabetes treatment.

Meta-BN Net for few-shot learning

In this paper, we propose a lightweight network with an adaptive batch normalization module, called Meta-BN Net, for few-shot classification. Unlike existing few-shot learning methods, which consist of complex models or algorithms, our approach extends batch normalization, an essential part of current deep neural network training, whose potential has not been fully explored. In particular, a meta-module is introduced to learn to generate more powerful affine transformation parameters, known as and , in the batch normalization layer adaptively so that the representation ability of batch normalization can be activated. The experimental results on miniImageNet demonstrate that Meta-BN Net not only outperforms the baseline methods at a large margin but also is competitive with recent state-of-the-art few-shot learning methods. We also conduct experiments on Fewshot-CIFAR100 and CUB datasets, and the results show that our approach is effective to boost the performance of weak baseline networks. We believe our findings can motivate to explore the undiscovered capacity of base components in a neural network as well as more efficient few-shot learning methods.
