Lignans are the main active components of Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus for liver disease treatment:a review

As a traditional Chinese herbal medicine,Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus(SC)has been used in medicine and food industry due to its health care and therapeutic *** the past 20 years,the use of SC and its active ingredient lignans in the prevention and treatment of liver diseases has been increasing,and their hepatoprotective effects has increased the interest of the public and ***,in the present work,we first determined the effectiveness of SC in the treatment of liver diseases such as metabolic associated fatty liver disease,alcoholic liver disease,cholestatic liver disease and acute liver ***,the pharmacological effects and molecular mechanisms of lignans,the active components of SC,for liver disease treatment were comprehensively summarized for the first *** results showed that the lignans in SC could achieve hepatoprotective effects by regulating lipid metabolism,anti-fibrosis,anti-inflammation,anti-oxidation,anti-tumor and regulating bile acid *** mechanism mainly involved adenosine 5’-monophosphate-activated protein kinase,endoplasmic reticulum stress,sterol regulatory element binding protein 1c,autophagy,transforming growth factor-β,mitogen-activated protein kinase,microRNA,nuclear factor kappa-B,nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2,heat shock proteins and pregnane X receptor signaling *** results can lay a scientific foundation for the development of hepatoprotective drugs or functional foods from SC/lignans.

Unique physiopathological characteristics of tumor tissues impose obstacles to the sufficient penetration of traditional nanomedicines,resulting in undesirable drug delivery efficacy and therapeutic ***,we constructed TRAIL-[NDHCPT]^(GAC),a synergistic hydroxycamptothecin(HCPT)and tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand(TRAIL)protein co-loaded disk-shaped nanocarrier withγ-glutamyl transpeptidase *** the novel nanodisks extravasated into the tumor interstitium,theγ-glutamyl transpeptidase overexpressed on the tumor cell membranes cleaved theγ-glutamyl portions of the nanodisk surface to produce positively charged amino *** a result,the cationic nanodisks possessed stronger tumor infiltration ability through transcytosis than anionic *** and TRAIL exerted synergistic antitumor effects with better overall therapeutic *** TRAIL-[ND-HCPT]^(GAC)system performed significantly better than free HCPT and remarkably prolonged the survival of breast tumor-bearing mice with no significant toxicity.

Elucidation of potential relationship between endogenous proteases and key flavor substances in dry-cured pork coppa

Dry-cured meat products are considerably popular around the world due to unique *** is one of the enzymatic reactions from which flavor substances are derived,which is affected by endogenous *** purpose aimed to reveal the potential relationship between endogenous proteases and key flavor substances in dry-cured pork coppa in this *** dynamic changes of endogenous proteases activity,free amino acids,and volatiles during dry-cured pork coppa processing were *** results showed that 5 kinds of free amino acids,Glu,Lys,Val,Ala,and Leu,were identified as significant contributors to ***,key volatiles,such as hexanal,nonanal,octanal,benzaldehyde,3-methyl butanoic acid,2-methyl propanoic acid,and ethyl octanoate,greatly contributed to the flavor characteristics of dry-cured pork *** partial correlation analysis was performed to better elucidate the relationship among *** results revealed that close relationship between endogenous proteases and key *** not only significantly affected the accumulation of key active-amino acids,but also affected the accumulation of ethyl octanoate,2,3-pentanedione,and 2,3-octanedione by regulating the accumulation of octanoic acid and *** addition,cathepsin B and D,DPP II,DPP IV and RAP notably affected accumulation of hexanal.

Natural product chlorogenic acid achieves pharmacological activity and health protection via regulating gut microbiota

Chlorogenic acid (CA) is a natural plant-derived polyphenol compound that is widely present in beverages (coffee and tea)， fruits (blueberry， apple， and mulberry)， and medicinal plants (Lonicera japonica， Eucommia ulmoides， and Cichorium intybus). In recent years， CA has attracted extensive attention due to its various health benefits， such as anti-inflammatory， immunomodulatory， anti-obesity， anti-diabetes mellitus， and neuroprotection activities. Interestingly， the low bioavailability of CA corresponds to high bioactivity， which raises a key scientific question of how low bioavailability CA can achieve high biological activity. In this review， we highlight the gut microbiota as a key target for connecting the two by summarizing a large amount of evidence. Specifically， the composition and abundance of gut microbiota， its metabolites， intestinal immunity， barrier function and so on were all changed under different pathological conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease， liver disease， kidney disease， cardiovascular disease， diabetes mellitus， obesity， etc. Conversely， these changes could be reversed by CA. In a word， CA could achieve pharmacological activity as well as health-protective effects by modulating intestinal immune and barrier function， gut microbiota composition， gut microbiota metabolites， and signaling pathways. This review provides new targets for the prevention and treatment of diseases by CA. Meanwhile， regulating the composition of the gut microbiota through natural products may be a potential strategy to achieve health protection.

Electron-beam-driven anomalous Doppler effects in Smith–Purcell radiation

The interaction between electrons and matter is an effective means of light emission,through mechanisms including Cherenkov radiation and Smith–Purcell radiation(SPR).In this study,we show that the superlight inverse Doppler effects can be realized in reverse Smith–Purcell radiation excited by a free electron beam with a homogeneous *** particular,we find that two types of anomalous SPR exist in the homogenous substrate:special SPR and reverse *** results reveal that the electron velocity can be tuned to simultaneously excite different combinations of normal SPR,special SPR,and reverse *** proposed manifold light radiation mechanism can offer greater versatility in controlling and shaping SPR.

Enhanced wear prediction of tunnel boring machine disc cutters for accurate remaining useful life estimation using a hybrid model

In tunnel construction with tunnel boring machines(TBMs),accurate prediction of the remaining useful life(RUL)of disc cutters is critical for timely maintenance and replacement to avoid delays and cost *** paper introduces a novel hybrid model,integrating fundamental and data-driven approaches,to enhance wear prediction of TBM disc cutters and enable accurate RUL *** fundamental model is improved by incorporating composite wear mechanisms and load estimation techniques,showcasing superior prediction accuracy compared to single-mechanism ***,the hybrid model innovatively incorporates a data-driven supplementary residual term into the improved fundamental model,leading to a high-performance wear prediction *** actual field data from a highway tunnel project in Shenzhen,the performance of the hybrid model is rigorously tested and compared with pure fundamental and data-driven *** hybrid model outperforms the other models,achieving the highest accuracy in predicting TBM disc cutter wear(mean absolute error(MAE)=0.53,root mean square error(RMSE)=0.64).Furthermore,this study thoroughly analyzes the hybrid model’s generalization capability,revealing significant impacts of geological conditions on prediction *** model’s generalization capability is also improved by expanding and updating the data *** RUL estimation results provided by the hybrid model are straightforward and effective,making it a valuable tool by which construction staff can monitor TBM disc cutters.

Magnetoelastic couplings in giant magnetostrictive materials(GMMs)attract significant interests due to their extensive applications in the fields of spintronics and energy harvesting *** the role of the selection of materials and the response to external fields is essential for attaining desired functionality of a ***,machine learning(ML)models are conducted to predict saturation magnetostrictions(λ_(s))in RFe_(2)-type(R=rare earth)GMMs with different *** to ML-predicted composition–λsrelations,it is discovered that the values ofλshigher than1100×10^(-6)are almost situated in the composition space surrounded by 0.26≤x≤0.60 and 1.90≤y≤2.00 for the ternary compounds of Tb_(x)Dy_(1-x)Fe_(y).Assisted by ML predictions,the compositions are further narrowed down to the space surrounded by 0.26≤x≤0.32 and 1.92≤y≤1.97 for the excellent piezomagnetic(PM)performance in the Tb_(x)Dy_(1-x)Fe_(y)based PM device through our developed high-throughput(HTP)micromagnetic simulation(MMS)***,high sensitivities up to10.22-13.61 m T·MPa^(-1)are observed in the optimized range within which the available experimental data fall *** work not only provides valuable insights toward understanding the mechanism of magnetoelastic couplings,but also paves the way for designing and optimizing highperformance magnetostrictive materials and PM sensing devices.

Supersonic expansion and condensation characteristics of hydrogen gas under different temperature conditions

This paper introduced supersonic expansion liquefaction technology into the field of hydrogen *** mathematical model for supersonic condensation of hydrogen gas in a Laval nozzle model was *** supersonic expansion and condensation characteristics of hydrogen gas under different temperature conditions were *** simulation results show that the droplet number rises rapidly from 0 at the nozzle throat as the inlet temperature increases,and the maximum droplet number generated is 1.339×10^(18)kg^(-1)at inlet temperature of 36.0 *** hydrogen nucleation occurs,the droplet radius increases significantly and shows a positive correlation with the increase in the inlet temperature,and the maximum droplet radii are 6.667×10^(-8)m,1.043×10^(-7)m,and 1.099×10^(-7)m when the inlet temperature is 36.0 K,36.5 K,and 37.0 K,*** maximum nucleation rate decreases with increasing inlet temperature,and the nucleation region of the Laval nozzle becomes *** liquefaction efficiency can be effectively improved by lowering the inlet *** is because a lower inlet temperature provides more subcooling,which allows the hydrogen to reach the thermodynamic conditions required for large-scale condensation more quickly.

Efficient Metal Recovery from Industrial Wastewater:Potential Oscillation and Turbulence Mode for Electrochemical System

Efficient metal recovery from industrial wastewater facilitates addressing of the environmental hazards and resource requirements of heavy *** conventional electrodeposition recovery method is hampered by the limitations of interfacial ion transport in charge-transfer reactions,creating challenges for simultaneous rapid and high-quality metal ***,we proposed integrating a transient electric field(TE)and swirling flow(SF)to synchronously enhance bulk mass transfer and promote interfacial ion *** investigated the effects of the operation mode,transient frequency,and flow rate on metal recovery,enabling determination of the optimal operating conditions for rapid and efficient sequential recovery of Cu in TE&SF *** conditions included low and high electric levels of 0 and 4 V,a 50%duty cycle,1 kHz frequency,and 400 L·h^(-1)flow *** kinetic coefficients of TE&SF electrodeposition were 3.5-4.3 and 1.37-1.97 times that of single TE and SF electrodeposition,*** the deposition process under TE and SF conditions confirmed the efficient concurrence of interfacial ion transport and charge transfer under TE and SF synergy,which achieved rapid and highquality metal ***,the combined deposition strategy is considered an effective technique for reducing metal pollution and promoting resource recycling.

Noise-Tolerant ZNN-Based Data-Driven Iterative Learning Control for Discrete Nonaffine Nonlinear MIMO Repetitive Systems

Aiming at the tracking problem of a class of discrete nonaffine nonlinear multi-input multi-output(MIMO) repetitive systems subjected to separable and nonseparable disturbances, a novel data-driven iterative learning control(ILC) scheme based on the zeroing neural networks(ZNNs) is proposed. First, the equivalent dynamic linearization data model is obtained by means of dynamic linearization technology, which exists theoretically in the iteration domain. Then, the iterative extended state observer(IESO) is developed to estimate the disturbance and the coupling between systems, and the decoupled dynamic linearization model is obtained for the purpose of controller synthesis. To solve the zero-seeking tracking problem with inherent tolerance of noise,an ILC based on noise-tolerant modified ZNN is proposed. The strict assumptions imposed on the initialization conditions of each iteration in the existing ILC methods can be absolutely removed with our method. In addition, theoretical analysis indicates that the modified ZNN can converge to the exact solution of the zero-seeking tracking problem. Finally, a generalized example and an application-oriented example are presented to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed process.
