Objectives:To observe the prevalence of arterial pressure and glycemia in Kosovo and to provide free screening service through health ***:This prospective study was conducted over a 3-year period,during 2017–*** data were collected by AAB College staff in 11 Kosovo cities prior to a random sample with 7254 *** included demographic information as well as blood pressure and glycemic level ***:The overall prevalence of arterial pressure was registered at 27.6%and diabetes mellitus at 9.2%.Arterial pressure in females had a tendency to increase with age(r=0.3552,P<0.001),as well as the glycemic index(r=0.1997,P<0.001).Never theless,age had a stronger impact on males than in females,with regard to higher arterial pressure in the year 2017(P<0.001).In the following years,2018 and 2019,the ratio had *** had strong correlation with systolic ar terial pressure value(P<0.001).For a 1 mmol/L increase in glycemia,the diastolic value increased by 0.19 mm Hg on ***:This study concluded that at younger ages the values of ar terial pressure and glycemia remain within the commonly observed range,but over the years the probability for higher blood pressure or glicemia *** continuous control of ar terial pressure and glycemia at an early age,it is possible to identify abnormal diagnostics,in order to address them in *** nitiatives and screenings should take place in order to increase awareness of the citizens for checking themselves regularly.

Despite intense experimental and theoretical efforts, it is still unclear why at temperatures of phase transitions, materials change completely their physical properties. Experimentally we are able to measure any microscopic, mesoscopic, and macroscopic variations of physical observables, but we still do not have a universal theoretical model that can predict all phase transitions, qualitatively and quantitatively. For instance, experimentally we can measure all physical properties of superconductors, but we do not have a unique theoretical model that is able to describe both types of superconductivity, namely the conventional and unconventional superconductivity. Here I present a simple quantum-mechanical and universal theoretical model that is able to calculate and predict critical temperatures for phase transitions: between magnetic order and disorder, superconductivity and normal conductivity, superconductivity and insulator, metal and insulator, melting and crystallization and many other phase transitions. All these phase transitions are described with four wave functions that are eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonian and the momentum operators.

Aim: The aim of this ex vivo study, with SEM, was to determine the effects of the smear layer on the root canal systems after different instrumentation technique and irrigation protocol, obturated with carrier based gutta-percha (Soft Core) and AH26 sealer. Materials & Methods: Forty freshly extracted human teeth were used for this study. The teeth were divided into two major groups according to instrumentation technique (Manual and ProFile) and then each major group into four subgroups according to irrigation protocol (Saline solution, 17% EDTA, 5.25% NaOCl). All of the samples were obturated with AH26 and Soft Core Heating Gutta-percha. The evaluation of the objectives was performed using a Scanning Electron Microscope. Result: ProFile instrumentation followed with irrigation of 17% EDTA and 5.25% NaOCl, selaed with AH26 Soft Core Heating Guttapercha provided maximal contact at the S/D interface. The S/D interface had a serrated appearance due to effective penetration of the sealer into the patent dentin tubules. Conclusions: The adhezion of the respective sealer is more successful in cases when smear layer was removed completely.

Correlation between Anatomy and Root Canal Topography of First Maxillary Premolar on Kosovar Population

Aim: In this in vitro study the variation of root anatomy and canal system of the first human maxillary premolar was evaluated. Materials and Methods: Two hundred and twenty one maxillary first premolars (#221 teeth) were examined. All of the teeth were identified using the accepted criteria of Woelfel as maxillary first premolars. Selected teeth are analyzed using operating microscope (OP) and computed dental radiography (CDR). Results: There was a higher incidence of two-roots form 70.14% (n = 155), 21.72% (n = 48) had one root, and 8.14% (n = 18) had three roots. In the two-root category, 16.29% (n = 36) had bifurcation on apical third, 21.72% (n = 48) had bifurcation on middle third, and 32.13% (n = 71) had bifurcation on cervical third. The examination of root canal systems of the teeth was based on Vertucci’s classification type of canal: 64.58% (#31) of the cases had type IV (2-2-2), 25.00% (#12) type II (2-2-1), 8.33% (#4) type I (1-1-1), and 2.09% (#1) type III (1-2-1). Conclusion: This study showed a high incidence of two-rooted maxillary first premolars collected from different regions in Kosovo. Internal root canal system morphology reflects the external root anatomy. Furthermore, there is correlation between the shape of the outer surface of the root and the shape of the root canal. The cases with one root of the maxillary first premolar with a deep depression on the mesial side contain a double root canal system more often than a single canal.

The cleaning efficiency of the root canal after different instrumentation technique and irrigation protocol:A SEM analysis

Aim: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of manual and ultrasonic instrumentation with varying irrigation protocols on removal of the smear layer from root canal walls. Methods: Forty extracted single rooted human teeth stored in 0.5% saline were used. Periodontal soft tissues were removed followed by crown separation at the CEJ. All the teeth were randomly divided into two groups. Manually Instrumented Group 1 was irrigated with 5.25% NaOCl and 17% EDTA alternately, same as Ultrasonically Instrumented Group 2. The controls for both groups were irrigated with saline solution. Results: Ultrasonic instrumentation and the combined use of two different solutions (5.25% NaOCl and 17% EDTA) yielded better results on smear removal. Conclusions: Irrigation with 17% EDTA followed by 5.25% NaOCl was successful in complete removal of smear layer on cervical and middle thirds of the root canals. Ultrasonic instrumentation was slightly more successful on the apical one third of the root canals.

Aim: To describe the presence, frequency of attrition in permanent dentition of human skulls from two ancient archeological locations. Aims: To determine the rate of attrition using a specific quantitative and qualitative method. Methods: Twenty one human skulls from two ancient archeological necropolises (Vendenis and Municipium Dardanorum DD) were included in the analysis of samples for this study. A total of 498 teeth were present in all human skulls. The skulls (with their accompanying teeth) were then divided into groups according to locality of origin, age and sex. Macroscopic (observational) analysis of the teeth relied on inspection and exploration of the teeth in their totality. The classification system that was used to rate tooth wear was Tooth Wear Index (TWI). Statistical analysis used: Chitest for small samples was used to evaluate the observations obtained from the study. Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis was not performed due to the small number of teeth and the content of zero values in respective age groups. Results: The results show that out of total 498 teeth, 89.35% had attrition and 10.65% had no attrition or Grade 0 TWI. 21.48% were Grade 1, 28.71% Grade 2, 26.90% Grade 3, 7.42% Grade 4 and 4.81% Grade 5. Conclusions: Grade 2 and higher rate of attrition, was predominantly present in first permanent molars.

The Efficacy of 1% Chlorhexidine Gel on the Reduction of Dry Socket Occurence Following Surgical Third Molar Extraction—Pilot Study

Aim & Objectives: The aim of this prospective pilot-study was to assess the efficacy of intra alveolar application of 1% chlorhexidine gel (CHX) on the reduction of dry socket (DS) occurrence following surgical extraction of mandibular third molars. Materials and Methods: A randomized split-mouth-design study included twenty-five patients with bilaterally impacted lower third molars (partial or full bone) requiring full thickness mucoperiastal flap reflection for extraction. Following surgical extraction of third lower molar, 2 ml of gel containing 1% chlorhexidine digluconate (Chlorhexamed? Gel 1%) were placed in the experimental side, and saline solution was used for irrigation in the control side of extraction sockets, both followed by suturing of extraction site. The surgeries and follow up examinations were performed by the same surgeon. The follow up visits were performed at 48 hours and on day seven, post surgery where presence or absence of dry socket using the Blum criteria for diagnosis was evaluated and pain intensity by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) 0 - 100 was observed. Results: In this pilot study, dry socket was present in 4.0 and 28.0% of cases in the experimental and control groups, respectively (P = 0.048). Fisher’s test revealed a statistically significant reduction of dry socket occurrence following the use of 1% CHX gel versus saline solution. Conclusion: The application of CHX gel 1% may significantly reduce the incidence of DS following third molar extraction. Prophylactic use of CHX gel 1% may be suggested in all patients, especially in the patients at risk of development of DS.

The Color of Natural Teeth Investigated by Visual Perception and Spectrophotometer

The advantage of electronic devices is to eliminate the subjectivity. Based on individual capabilities, visual perception has its disadvantages. The aim of this study was to find out the possible shade difference between the upper and lower teeth, visual perception versus spectrophotometry as well as proving that females are better in visual perception of colour matching. 82 subjects (dental students) of this study determined the color of each other’s natural teeth. The color of 1640 teeth (incisors, canines and premolars), was matched by visual perception and by Vita Easyshade spectrophotometer. The matching was focused on the middle third of buccal surfaces of the examined teeth. In this study, it was found that there was a difference of color between the teeth of the upper and lower jaw. The percentage of the accordance between two methods was 28.35% for all examined teeth. The color determination at central incisors showed the highest value of accordance 40.85%. Based on Vitapan 3D Mastershade, the most frequent color was 2M2.

The Relation between the Preferred Chewing Side and Occlusal Force Measured by T-Scan III System

Occlusal force has the main role in determining the teeth health in general and determining the chewing, muscle and TMJ function. The objective of this study was to find if there was any relation between the preferred chewing side and the force, measured by T-scan III system. The total number of 90 (46 female and 44 male) dental students was included in this study. They were asked whether their preferred chewing side was right, left or both. Afterwards, the occlusal forces in habitual occlusion, using T-Scan III Electronic device (IP-CO position mode, MA-mode, MA sensitivity setting) were measured. The data were presented as Mean ± SD. Spearman correlation was used to find the correlation between the occlusal force and chewing side. Differences in P 0.05) and the right side (r = 0.143, P > 0.05) according to the preferred chewing side. In this study, the relation between the preferred chewing side and occlusal force was found.
