Dipeptidyl peptidase-4: A key player in chronic liver disease

Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) is a membrane-associated peptidase, also known as CD26. DPP-4 has widespread organ distribution throughout the body and exerts pleiotropic effects via its peptidase activity. A representative target peptide is glucagon-like peptide-1, and inactivation of glucagon-like peptide-1 results in the development of glucose intolerance/diabetes mellitus and hepatic steatosis. In addition to its peptidase activity, DPP-4 is known to be associated with immune stimulation, binding to and degradation of extracellular matrix, resistance to anti-cancer agents, and lipid accumulation. The liver expresses DPP-4 to a high degree, and recent accumulating data suggest that DPP-4 is involved in the development of various chronic liver diseases such as hepatitis C virus infection, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Furthermore, DPP-4 occurs in hepatic stem cells and plays a crucial role in hepatic regeneration. In this review, we described the tissue distribution and various biological effects of DPP-4. Then, we discussed the impact of DPP-4 in chronic liver disease and the possible therapeutic effects of a DPP-4 inhibitor.

Mg-Al layered double hydroxide intercalated with CO_(3)^(2-)(CO_(3)·Mg-Al LDH) is effective for treating HCl exhaust *** reacts with CO_(3)^(2-) in CO_(3)·Mg-Al LDH, resulting in the formation of Cl·Mg-Al *** propose that CO_(2) can be used for the desorption of Cl^(-)from Cl·Mg-Al LDH to regenerate CO_(3)·Mg-Al ***,we studied the desorption of a from CI-Mg-Al LDH by adding water to Cl·Mg-Al LDH and blowing CO_(2) into *** also analyzed the effects of temperature and water addition speed on the desorption of CI^(-)from Cl·Mg-Al *** results show that the added water adhered to CI·Mg-Al LDH and that CO_(2) in the gaseous phase was dissolved in this adhered water,thus generating CO_(3)^(2-).Therefore,anion exchange occurred between CO_(3)^(2-) and Cl^(-)in the Cl·Mg-Al LDH,thus desorbing Cl^(-).

本文研究了由各向同性和各向异性半无限板接合而成的复合材料中的应力强度因子问题.在复合材料的接合面附近处具有与接合面平行且共线的两个Griffith 裂纹,裂纹面上作用有剪应力.本文利用付利叶变换将混合边值问题归结为求解奇异积分方程问题.为求解这些方程,将裂纹面上、下的位移差展成级数,并满足裂纹面外侧边界条件.级数中的待定系数利用裂纹面内的边界条件和施密特(Schmidt)方法求得.本文对硼纤维塑料(BFRP)和铝板接合的复合材料、炭纤维强化塑料等材料的应力强度因子进行了数值计算.

Augmentation of tumor necrosis factor family-induced apoptosis by E3330 in human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines via inhibition of NFκB

AIM- To investigate the reduction of cell viability in human hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） cell lines induced by inhibition of nuclear factor kB （NFkB）. METIIOI）S： HLE, SKHep1, and HepG2 were incubated and E3330 was used to compare the stimulation of some chemotherapeutic drugs with that of TNF family, Fas ligand, TNF（x and TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand （TRAIL） at the point of the reduction of cell viability by inhibiting NFkB. RESULTS： E3330 decreased NFKB levels in HLE cells stimulated by TNF and TRAIL. The cytotoxicity of the combination of TRAIL, TNFa, Fas ligand, and E3330 increased synergistically in a dose-dependent manner compared to either E3330 alone in all HCC cell lines by MTT assay. However, the combination of some chemotherapeutic drugs and E3330 did not decrease the cell viability. CONCLUSION： Inhibition of NFd3 sensitizes human HCC cell lines to TNF-mediated apoptosis including TRAIL, and TRAIL-based tumor therapy might be a powerful potential therapeutic tool in the treatment of human HCC.

＜正＞For SISO uncertain nonlinear system, we show how the problem of global robust stabilization via recursive design can be solved by using less conservative bounding functions. The system is assumed to have gain bounded unknown nonlinear functions with a semi-strict feedback structure. Moreover, by modifying a Lyapunov-like function, we extend the obtained controller to have a disturbance attenuation property.

Increased insulin resistance is frequently associated with chronic liver disease and is a pathophysiological feature of hepatogenous *** factors including hepatic parenchymal cell damage,portalsystemic shunting and hepatitis C virus are responsible for the development of hepatogenous insulin resistance/*** it remains unclear whether insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells is impaired as it is in type 2 diabetes,retinopathic and cardiovascular risk is low and major causes of death in cirrhotic patients with diabetes are liver failure,hepatocellular carcinoma and gastrointestinal *** A1c is an inaccurate marker for the assessment and management of hepatogenous ***,exogenous insulin or sulfonylureas may be harmful because these agents may promote ***,pathogenesis,cause of death,assessment and therapeutic strategy for hepatogenous insulin resistance/diabetes differ from those for lifestyle-related type 2 *** this article,we review features of insulin resistance in relationship to chronic liver *** also discuss the impact of anti-diabetic agents on interferon treatment and hepatocarcinogenesis.

Influence of Psychiatric Problems on Clinical Outcomes during the First 12 Months after Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty

Gastroenteric tissues from 3 pet cats with gastroenteritis were studied to develop detection methods of Helicobacter infection in pet cat. 2/3 cases were diagnosis of Helicobacter infection by H.E, Warthin-Starry, Immunohistochemical staining and PCR methods. Identification of different Helicobacter species by PCR analysis revealed that one cat with gastritis was detected housing Helicobacter Heilmannii and another cat with enteritis was distinguished infection by Helicobacter Bilis. The presence of spiral bacteria in the feline stomach has been recognized by Scanning Electron-Microscope (SEM) . Both pathological research methods and PCR techniques are mutually beneficial when they were used to investigate Helicobacter disease.

Background: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a useful treatment option for advanced knee osteoarthritis. Excellent clinical outcomes after TKA have been widely recognized, but the influence of psychiatric problems on them has not been focused on until quite recently. This study aimed to assess the influence of psychiatric problems on clinical outcomes after TKA in Japanese patients using two assessment scales developed in Japan because the Japanese cultural lifestyle is specifically characterized by bending to the floor and standing up. Methods: Clinical outcomes and psychiatric problems were evaluated using the Japanese Knee Osteoarthritis Measure (JKOM) and Brief Scale for Psychiatric Problems in Orthopaedic Patients (BS-POP), respectively. A total of 115 TKA patients were evaluated preoperatively and at 3, 6, and 12 months after TKA. The patients were classified into four groups (groups A-D) based on the BS-POP score. The JKOM scores were then compared between the two groups (groups A and D) with the worst and least psychiatric problems. The JKOM improvement rate between pre- and postoperative status in both groups A and D was also calculated. Results: The total JKOM score was significantly poorer in group A than in group D preoperatively and at 3, 6, and 12 months after TKA. The improvement rate showed no significant difference between groups A and D. Conclusion: Psychiatric problems influence both the poorer post- and preoperative clinical outcomes. However, a similar improvement rate in both groups A and D has indicated that TKA can be an effective treatment even for patients with psychiatric problems.
