Water quality analysis and source apportionment in estuaries along the coast of the Bohai Sea,North China

High-dimensional data(a dataset with many features)were collected from 64 sampling sites to analyze the water quality in estuaries along the coast of the Bohai Sea,North *** twenty-five water quality parameters analyzed were collected monthly from January 2021 to December *** statistical techniques,such as the absolute principal component score-multiple linear regression model(APCS-MLR),correlation analysis,and analysis of variance were used to identify and quantify the potential sources or factors affecting water quality and to analyze the spatial-temporal variation in water *** water quality indices(WQIs),ranging from 67.96 to 70.67,showed that the water quality was at an intermediate level in the estuaries during both the flood and nonflood *** concentrations of total phosphorus(TP),ammonia N(AN),and organic pollutants were greater in the Haihe River Basin than in the Liaohe River and Huanghe-Huaihe River *** concentration of total nitrogen(TN)in the Haihe River Basin was lower than that in the Liaohe River and Huanghe-Huaihe River *** metal concentrations in the Liaohe River Basin were greater than those in the Haihe River and Huanghe-Huaihe River *** annual mean concentrations of AN in the estuaries of the Haihe,Liaohe,and Huanghe(yellow)rivers exhibited significant decreasing trends from 2013 to 2022,but no significant decreasing trends were found for permanganate index(COD_(Mn))or the *** concentrations of TN and AN were lower in the flood season than in the nonflood season,and the TP concentration was greater in the flood season than in the nonflood ***,the concentrations of organic pollutants did not exhibit significant *** sewage and industrial wastewater,substance exchange between air and water,nonpoint sources from rural and urban areas,and aquaculture wastewater were the major sources or factors responsible for water pollution in the estuaries.

The burden of upper motor neuron involvement is correlated with the bilateral limb involvement interval in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis:a retrospective observational study

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a rare neurodegenerative disease characterized by the involvement of both upper and lower motor *** bilateral limb involvement significantly affects patients'daily lives and may lead them to be confined to ***,the effect of upper and lower motor neuron impairment and other risk factors on bilateral limb involvement is *** address this issue,we retrospectively collected data from 586 amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients with limb onset diagnosed at Peking University Third Hospital between January 2020 and May 2022.A univariate analysis revealed no significant differences in the time intervals of spread in different directions between individuals with upper motor neuron-dominant amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and those with classic amyotrophic lateral *** used causal directed acyclic graphs for risk factor determination and Cox proportional hazards models to investigate the association between the duration of bilateral limb involvement and clinical baseline characteristics in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis *** factor analyses revealed that higher upper motor neuron scores(hazard ratio[HR]=1.05,95%confidence interval[CI]=1.01–1.09,P=0.018),onset in the left limb(HR=0.72,95%CI=0.58–0.89,P=0.002),and a horizontal pattern of progression(HR=0.46,95%CI=0.37–0.58,P<0.001)were risk factors for a shorter interval until bilateral limb *** results demonstrated that a greater degree of upper motor neuron involvement might cause contralateral limb involvement to progress more quickly in limb-onset amyotrophic lateral sclerosis *** findings may improve the management of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients with limb onset and the prediction of patient prognosis.

Precise polyp segmentation is vital for the early diagnosis and prevention of colorectal cancer(CRC)in clinical ***,due to scale variation and blurry polyp boundaries,it is still a challenging task to achieve satisfactory segmentation performance with different scales and *** this study,we present a novel edge-aware feature aggregation network(EFA-Net)for polyp segmentation,which can fully make use of cross-level and multi-scale features to enhance the performance of polyp ***,we first present an edge-aware guidance module(EGM)to combine the low-level features with the high-level features to learn an edge-enhanced feature,which is incorporated into each decoder unit using a layer-by-layer ***,a scale-aware convolution module(SCM)is proposed to learn scale-aware features by using dilated convolutions with different ratios,in order to effectively deal with scale ***,a cross-level fusion module(CFM)is proposed to effectively integrate the cross-level features,which can exploit the local and global contextual ***,the outputs of CFMs are adaptively weighted by using the learned edge-aware feature,which are then used to produce multiple side-out segmentation *** results on five widely adopted colonoscopy datasets show that our EFA-Net outperforms state-of-the-art polyp segmentation methods in terms of generalization and *** implementation code and segmentation maps will be publicly at https://***/taozh2017/EFANet.

Revisit the Gibbs-Thomson Equation Fitting of Poly(butylene succinate)Based on Oligomer Extended-Chain Crystals

The equilibrium melting point(T_(m)^(0))is a crucial thermodynamic parameter for characterizing the crystallization and melting behavior of semi-crystalline ***,the direct measurement of T_(m)^(0) poses a significant challenge because of the difficulty in physically fabricating fully-extended chain crystals of high-molecular-weight ***,various extrapolation equations for T_(m)^(0) have been proposed that utilize the thermal properties of ordinary folded-chain *** these,the Gibbs-Thomson equation is one of the most commonly employed for *** its widespread use,there are notable variations in the T_(m)^(0) values obtained by different research groups,even when based on similar *** raises questions about the validity and accuracy of using the Gibbs-Thomson equation to linearly extrapolate T_(m)^(0).In this study,we prepared a series of oligomer extended-chain crystals(ECCs)of poly(butylene succinate)(PBS)and used their properties for Gibbs-Thomson *** results reveal a perfect linear relationship,with an extrapolated T_(m)^(0) value of 136.08℃.The basal surface free energy of the oligomer ECCs was calculated as 0.084 J/m^(2),which is approximately twice that of folded-chain *** difference is attributed to the aggregation of highly mobile free tails on the crystal *** two structural features of oligomer ECCs—large thickness and fixed surface—better fulfill the conditions for applying the Gibbs-Thomson equation,ensuring its validity and ***,we believe that the Gibbs-Thomson fit can produce reliable results when sufficient high-quality data are used.

The Agrocybe cylindracea polysaccharides (ACP) have been shown to possess various health benefits. However， the anti-inflammatory effects of ACP and the mechanisms underlying these effects remain poorly understood. In this study， we delved into the potential of ACP in mitigating colitis induced by dextrose sodium sulfate (DSS) in C57BL/6J mice and explored the associated mechanisms. ACP demonstrated notable anti-inflammatory effects in the intestines， as evidenced by the restoration of various indicators such as increased body weight and colon length， decreased DAI score， and alleviation of pathological damage in the colon. Additionally， ACP upregulated the expression of ZO-1， Occludin， and Muc2， suggesting a restoration of the mechanical and mucus barriers of the intestinal mucosa. Furthermore， ACP facilitated the polarization of M2 macrophages and preserved intestinal immune balance. The impact of ACP on the biological barrier was further scrutinized. ACP ameliorated disruptions in the gut microbiota， particularly by enhancing the relative abundance of bacteria that produce short-chain fatty acids (Anaerostipes， Romboutsia， and Butyricicoccus). Remarkably， the ameliorative effects of ACP on colitis were compromised upon the removal of the microbial community， but were restored post fecal microbiota transplantation， indicating that the efficacy of ACP in alleviating colitis is dependent on the gut microbiota. Intriguingly， the regulatory influence of ACP on macrophages also hinged on the gut microbiota. In essence， ACP exhibits the potential to modulate the composition of the gut microbiota， fostering the growth of beneficial bacteria， which in turn promotes the polarization of colonic M2 macrophages and facilitates the repair of the intestinal mucosal barrier in DSS-induced colitis. These findings underscore the capacity of ACP to enhance the intestinal mucosal barrier and ameliorate colitis by modulating the gut microbiota-macrophage axis， suggesting that ACP cou

High-dense nanocrystalline W-based alloy prepared by hot isostatic pressing with uniform microstructure, ultrahigh hardness and good thermal stability

High-density uniform microstructure nanocrystalline W-10wt.% Cr-5wt.% Y（W-10Cr-5Y） alloy with an average grain size of 85 nm and a relative density of 99.8% was successfully prepared.W-Cr-Y alloys with different amounts of second-phase particles were prepared by high-energy ball milling and hot isostatic pressing *** effects of composition design,ball milling parameters,and sintering parameters on the microstructure of W-Cr-Y alloys were studied.A feasible technology for controlling the synthesis of high-density nanocrystalline W-based alloys has been *** microstructure analysis of nanocrystalline W-10Cr-5Y alloy shows that there are two types of doping in the second phase:intergranular doping and intragranular *** "uniform distribution YOx-rich particles" effectively suppresses the grain growth of W and leads to the formation of nanocrystalline W-10Cr-5Y alloy.W-10Cr-5Y has an ultra-high hardness,with a Vickers hardness of 1312±12 kgf·***-temperature annealing treatment shows that W-10Cr-5Y has good thermal stability at 1000 and1100℃,as demonstrated by the comparison of Vickers hardness and grain size between annealed and unannealed alloys.

Climate changes drive phytoplankton community through complementarity and selection effects in a large mesotrophic reservoir

Understanding the response of the phytoplankton community to climate change is essential for reservoir *** analyzed a long-term data series(2009–2020)on the phytoplankton community in a large mesotrophic reservoir in the wet season to investigate the impacts of temperature and precipitation increases caused by climate change on the functioning and trait composition of the phytoplankton *** the last twelve years,the 3-month accumulative precipitation increased from 291.03 mm to 590.91 mm,and the surface water temperature increased from 25.06℃to 26.49℃in wet season,*** changes caused a higher water level,stronger thermal stratification and lower nitrogen concentration in Daxi *** dynamic equilibrium model indicated that the increased precipitation and water temperature-related environmental changes would result in a more diverse and productive phytoplankton *** effects of increasing water temperature and precipitation on the niche complementarity and selection effects within the phytoplankton community were analyzed using structural equation model by means of the functional divergence index and functional evenness index,respectively,elucidating the reasons for the increase in cyanobacteria in the absence of a significant increase in nutrient *** on these results,it is advisable that more stringent phosphorus control standards might be conducted to reduce the risks of cyanobacteria proliferation in the context of global warming.

Herein,we disclose a highly regio-/chemoselective tandem asymmetric dearomatized halofunctionalization reaction of phenoltethered ynamides with diverse electrophilic halogenation sources in a catalyst-free manner for the practical and rapid assembly of a series of halogenated spirocyclic ***,the related dearomatized selenation and protonation are also achieved,affording the corresponding selenated and protonated spirocycles in high ***,the enantioselectivities of these products can be perfectly induced by Evans auxiliaries(99%ees).Significantly,this protocol not only represents the first tandem asymmetric halofunctionalization reaction of phenol derivatives,but also constitutes the first asymmetric halogenation/selenation of *** calculations indicate a remote induction model of Evans chiral auxiliary-attached keteniminium.

Comparative analysis of empirical and deep learning models for ionospheric sporadic E layer prediction

Sporadic E(Es)layers in the ionosphere are characterized by intense plasma irregularities in the E region at altitudes of 90-130 *** they can significantly influence radio communications and navigation systems,accurate forecasting of Es layers is crucial for ensuring the precision and dependability of navigation satellite *** this study,we present Es predictions made by an empirical model and by a deep learning model,and analyze their differences comprehensively by comparing the model predictions to satellite RO measurements and ground-based ionosonde *** deep learning model exhibited significantly better performance,as indicated by its high coefficient of correlation(r=0.87)with RO observations and predictions,than did the empirical model(r=0.53).This study highlights the importance of integrating artificial intelligence technology into ionosphere modelling generally,and into predicting Es layer occurrences and characteristics,in particular.
