Emergent symmetry in quantum phase transition:From deconfined quantum critical point to gapless quantum spin liquid

The emergence of exotic quantum phenomena in frustrated magnets is rapidly driving the development of quantum many-body physics,raising fundamental questions on the nature of quantum phase *** we unveil the behaviour of emergent symmetry involving two extraordinarily representative phenomena,i.e.,the deconfined quantum critical point(DQCP)and the quantum spin liquid(QSL)*** large-scale tensor network simulations,we study a spatially anisotropic spin-1/2 square-lattice frustrated antiferromagnetic(AFM)model,namely the J1x-J1y-J2 model,which contains anisotropic nearestneighbor couplings J1x,J1y and the next nearest neighbor coupling *** small J1y/J1x,by tuning J2,a direct continuous transition between the AFM and valence bond solid phase is *** growing J1y/J1x,a gapless QSL phase gradually emerges between the AFM and VBS *** observe an emergent O(4)symmetry along the AFM–VBS transition line,which is consistent with the prediction of DQCP *** surprisingly,we find that such an emergent O(4)symmetry holds for the whole QSL–VBS transition line as *** findings reveal the intrinsic relationship between the QSL and DQCP from categorical symmetry point of view,and strongly constrain the quantum field theory description of the QSL *** phase diagram and critical exponents presented in this paper are of direct relevance to future experiments on frustrated magnets and cold atom systems.

The nature of the zero-temperature phase diagram of the spin-1/2 J_(1)-J_(2)Heisenberg model on a square lattice has been debated in the past three decades,and it remains one of the fundamental problems unsettled in the study of quantum many-body *** using the state-of-the-art tensor network method,specifically,the finite projected entangled pair state(PEPS)algorithm,to simulate the global phase diagram of the J_(1)-J_(2)Heisenberg model up to 24×24 sites,we provide very solid evidences to show that the nature of the intermediate nonmagnetic phase is a gapless quantum spin liquid(QSL),whose spin-spin and dimer-dimer correlations both decay with a power law *** also exists a valence-bond solid(VBS)phase in a very narrow region 0.56■J_(2)/J_(1)≤0.61 before the system enters the well known collinear antiferromagnetic *** stress that we make the first detailed comparison between the results of PEPS and the well-established density matrix renormalization group(DMRG)method through one-to-one direct benchmark for small system sizes,and thus give rise to a very solid PEPS calculation beyond *** numerical evidences explicitly demonstrate the huge power of PEPS for highly frustrated spin ***,an effective field theory is also proposed to understand the physical nature of the discovered gapless QSL and its relation to deconfined quantum critical point(DQCP).

Traditional silicone materials have poor mechanical properties,poor interfacial adhesion and lack the ability to be reprocessed or ***,we developed a novel strategy of incorporating dynamic noncovalent bonds(2-amino-4-hydroxy-6-methylpyrimidine(UPy))into side chain of silicone backbones to construct supramolecular silicone poly(urea-urethane)(SSPu)coatings with excellent mechanical performance,strong interfacial adhesion and multiple time recycling ***,the prepared SSPu is endowed with simultaneously enhanced stiffness(272.0±23.2 MPa)and toughness(8.0±2.0 MJ·m^(-3)).Besides,SSPu shows strong interfacial adhesion(up to 9.0±1.3 MPa)to diverse substrate(stainless steel,aluminum,copper,epoxy and glass)with long term ***,SSPu exhibits excellent multirecyclability and reusability without significantly decrease of its *** addition to the abovementioned features,the enrichment of siloxane backbones in the surface layer endows SSPu with robust repellency to water/*** strategy provides a powerful route to fabricate a new multifunctional silicone *** is highly anticipated that our strategy can effectively extend the service life of silicone coating which can be applied in a wide variety of areas including self-cleaning,antifouling.

Forward Modeling of Azimuthal Anisotropy to the Reflected P Wave of Coal Seam

Under the condition of weak anisotropy, the relation of P-wave anisotropy in direction to fractures of coal seams was researched in order to forecast the density and the direction of the fractures. Although the approximate solution by Rtiger is suitable for thick reservoirs, it has some limitations for the composite reflected wave from both roofs and floors of coal seams, as well as multiple reflections. So first, the phase velocity and group velocity as well as their travel time were calculated about the reflected P-wave of the coal seam. Then, the anisotropic coefficients of both roofs and floors were calculated by Rueger formulae and last, the section versus azimuth in fixed offset can be gotten by convolution. In addition, the relation of amplitude of the composite reflected wave to azimuth angle was discussed. The forward modelling results of the coal azimuth anisotropy show these： 1） the coal seam is the strong reflecting layer, but the change of the reflectivity caused by the azimuth anisotropy is smaller; 2） if the azimuth angle is parallel to the crack strike, the reflectivity reaches up to the maximum absolute value, however, if the azimuth angle is perpendicular to the crack strike, the absolute value of the reflection coefficient is minimum; and 3）the reflection coefficient is the cosine function of the azimuth angle and the period is π.

Soil erosion control based on county scale Soil and Water Conservation Regionalization(SWCR)is an essential component of China's ecological civilization *** SWCR,the quantitative analysis of the spatial heterogeneity and driving factors of soil erosion among different regions is still *** is of great significance for soil erosion control to deeply examine the factors contributing to soil erosion(natural,land use,and socioeconomic factors)and their interaction at the county and regional *** study focused on a highly cultivated area,Hechuan District of Chongqing in the Sichuan *** district(with 30 townships)was divided into four soil and water conservation regions(Ⅰ-Ⅳ)using principal component and hierarchical cluster *** driving factors of soil erosion were identified using the geographical detector *** results showed thatⅰ)the high cultivation rate was a prominent factor of soil erosion,and the sloping farmland accounted for 78.4%of the soil erosion in the study area;ⅱ)land use factors demonstrated the highest explanatory power in soil erosion,and the average interaction of land use factors explained 60.1%of soil erosion in the study area;ⅲ)the interaction between natural factors,socioeconomic factors,and land use factors greatly contributes to regional soil erosion through nonlinear-enhancement of double-factor *** study highlights the importance of giving special attention to the effects of land use factors on soil erosion at the county scale,particularly in mountainous and hilly areas with extensive sloping farmland and a high cultivation rate.

The round-beam operation presents many benefits for scientific experiments regarding synchrotron radiation and the weak-ening influences of intra-beam scattering in diffraction-limited synchrotron light sources.A round-beam generation method based on the global setting of skew quadrupoles and the application of a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm was pro-posed in this *** schemes,including large-emittance coupling introduced via betatron coupling and vertical disper-sion,were explored in a candidate lattice for an upgrade-proposal of the Shanghai synchrotron radiation *** variations with lattice imperfections and their influence on the beam dynamics of beam optic distortions were *** results demonstrated that a precise coupling control ranging from 10 to 100%was achieved under low optical distortion,whereas full-coupling generation and its robustness were achieved by our proposed method by adjusting the skew quadrupole components located in the dispersion-free *** Touschek lifetime increased by a factor of 2–2.5.

Conservative treatment of early postoperative small bowel obstruction with obliterative peritonitis

AIM:To investigate the effect of somatostatin and dexamethasone on early postoperative small bowel obstruction with obliterative peritonitis(EPSBO-OP).METHODS:This prospective randomized study included 70 patients diagnosed with EPSBO-OP from June2002 to January *** were randomized into two groups:a control group received total parenteral nutrition and nasogastric(NG)tube feeding;and an intervention group received,in addition,somatostatin and dexamethasone *** primary endpoints were time to resolution of bowel obstruction and length of hospital stay,and the secondary endpoints were daily NG output and NG feeding duration,treatment-related complications,postoperative obstruction relapse,and patient ***:Thirty-six patients were allocated to the intervention group and 34 to the control *** patient needed to undergo *** in the intervention group had an earlier resolution of bowel obstruction(22.4±9.1 vs 29.9±10.1 d,P=0.002).Lower daily NG output(583±208 vs 922±399 mL/d,P<0.001),shorter duration of NG tube use(16.7±8.8vs 27.7±9.9 d,P<0.001),and shorter length of hospital stay(25.8 vs 34.9 d,P=0.001)were observed in the intervention *** rate of treatment-related complications(P=0.770)and relapse of obstruction(P=0.357)were comparable between the two *** were no significant differences in postoperative satisfaction at 1,2 and 3 years between the two ***:Somatostatin and dexamethasone for EPSBO-OP promote resolution of obstruction and shorten hospital stay,and are safe for symptom control without increasing obstruction relapse.
