Polymetallic sulfides from two hydrothermal chimneys and talus deposit from the Vienna Woods field of Manus Basin were studied for mineralogy,elemental composition,and S-isotope ratio to understand their *** factors including the nature of source fluid,mineral paragenesis,and related geochemical processes have been *** and elemental concentration of Cu and Fe-rich large chimney at the central part of this hydrothermal field was completely different from the smaller Zn-rich peripheral chimney and Fe-rich talus deposit,suggesting the variable degree of alterations generate physico-chemically different source fluids responsible for these hydrothermal ***,S-isotope ratios also indicate chemically diverse fluids and different modes of precipitation were involved in their *** mineral zonings and associated elemental and isotopic compositions within individual deposit confirm paragenetic shifts were involved during their growth process.

Recently, Du has given a new strong definition of chaos by using the shift map. In this paper, we give a proof of the main theorem by constructing a dense uncountable invariant subset of the symbol space E2 containing transitive points in a simpler way with the help of a different metric. We also provide two examples, which support this new definition.

For nano-structured solids （those with one or more dimensions in the 1-100 nm range）, attempts of surface modification can pose significant and new challenges. In traditional materials, the surface coating could be several hundreds nanometers in thickness, or even microns and millimeters. In a nano-structured material, such as particle or nanofibers, the coating thickness has to be substantially smaller than the bulk dimensions （100 nm or less）, yet be durable and effective. In this paper, some aspects of effective nanometer scale coatings have been discussed. These films have been deposited by a non-line of sight （plasma） techniques; and therefore, they are capable of modifying nanofibers, near net shape cellular foams, and other high porosity materials. Two types of coatings will be focused upon：（a） those that make the surface inert and （b） those designed to enhance surface reactivity and bonding. The former has been achieved by forming 1-2 nm layer of --CF2- （and/or CF3） groups on the surface, and the latter by creating a nano- layer of SiO2-type compound. Nucleation and growth studies of the plasma-generated film indicate that they start forming as 2-3 nm high islands that grow laterally, and eventually completely cover the surface with 2-3 nm film. Contact angle measurements indicate that these nano-coatings are fully functional even before they have achieved complete coverage of 2-3 nm. They should therefore be applicable to nano-structural solids. This is corroborated by application of these films on vapor grown nanofibers of carbon, and on graphitic foams. Coated and uncoated materials are infiltrated with epoxy matrix to form composites and their microstructure, as well as mechanical behaviors are compared. The results show that the nano-oxide coating can significantly enhance bond formation between carbon and organic phases, thereby enhancing wettability, dispersion, and composite behavior. The glass and mineral chemistry of basaits examined from the northern central Indian ridge （NCIR） provides an insight into magma genesis around the vicinity of two transform faults： Vityaz （VT） and Vema （VM）. The studied mid-ocean ridge basalts （MORBs） from the outer ridge flank （VT area） and a near-ridge seamount （VM area） reveal that they are moderately phyric plagioclase basalts composed of plagioclase （phenocryst [An60-90] and groundmass [An35-79]）, olivine （Fo81-88）, diopside （Wo45-51, En25-37, Fs14-24）, and titanomagnetite （FeOt -63.75 wt% and TiO2 -22.69 wt%）. The wholerock composition of these basalts has similar Mg# [mole Mg/mole（Mg＋Fe2＋）] （VT basalt： -0.56-0.58; VM basalt： -0.57）, but differ in their total alkali content （VT basalt： -2.65; VM basalt： -3.24）. The bulk composition of the magma was gradually depleted in MgO and enriched in FeOt, TiO2, P2O5, and Na2O with progressive fractionation, the basalts were gradually enriched in Y and Zr and depleted in Ni and Cr. In addition, the ∑REE of magma also increased with fractionation, without any change in the （La/ Yb）N value. Glass from the VM seamount shows more fractionated characters （Mg#： 0.56-0.57） compared to the outer ridge flank lava of the VT area （Mg#： 0.63-0.65）. This study concludes that present basalts experienced low-pressure crystallization at a relatively shallow depth. The geochemical changes in the NCIR magmas resulted from fractional crystallization at a shallow depth. As a consequence, spinel was the first mineral to crystallize at a pressure 〉10 kbar, followed by Fe-rich olivine at 〈10 kbar pressure.

Clusters of Moderate Size Earthquakes along Main Central Thrust (MCT) in Himalaya

The Main Central Thrust (MCT) in Himalaya is seismically active in segments. In recent times, strain release within these active segments produce five spatial clusters (A to E;Figure 1). The seismicity within the cluster zones occurs in two depth bands;corresponding to the base of upper and lower crust. Depth sections across the clusters illustrate gently dipping subducted Indian Plate, overriding Tibetan Plate and compressed Sedimentary Wedge in between, with mid crustal ramping of MCT. Several presumptions / hypotheses have been put forward to decipher the causes of clustering along MCT. These are segmental activation of MCT, cross fault interactions, zones of arc parallel and arc perpendicular compressions, pore pressure perturbations, low heat flow zones etc. But these hypotheses need to be evaluated in the future after more ground level data are available. The maximum size of seismic threat that MCT can produce is inferred to be around Mw 7.0 in those clusters.

Pregnane and Xenobiotic Receptor (PXR; or Steroid and Xenobiotic Receptor, SXR), a new member of the nuclear receptor superfamily, is thought to modulate a network of genes that are involved in xenobiotic metabolism and elimination. To further explore the role of PXR in body’s homeostatic mechanisms, we for the first time, report successful prokary- otic expression and purification of full-length PXR and preparation of polyclonal antibody against the whole protein. The full-length cDNA encoding a 434 amino acids protein was sub-cloned into prokaryotic expression vector, pET-30b and transformed into E. coli BL21(DE3) cells for efficient over expression. The inclusion body fraction, containing the expressed recombinant protein, was purified first by solubilizing in sarcosine extraction buffer and then by affinity column chromatography using Ni-NTA His-Bind matrix. The efficacy of anti-PXR antibody was confirmed by immunocytology, Western blot analysis, EMSA and immunohistochemistry. The antibody obtained was capable of detecting human and mouse PXR with high specificity and sensitivity. Immunofluorescence staining of COS-1 cells transfected with human or mouse PXR showed a clear nuclear localization. Results from immunohistochemistry showed that level of PXR in liver sections is immunologically detectable in the nuclei. Similar to exogenously transfected PXR, Western blot analysis of cell extract from HepG2 and COLO320DM cells revealed a major protein band for endogenous PXR having the expected molecular weight of 50 kDa. Relevance of other immunodetectable bands with reference to PXR isoforms and current testimony are evaluated. Advantages of antibody raised against full-length PXR protein for functional characterization of receptor is discussed and its application for clinical purposes is envisaged.

Non-observable Influential（s） in the Domain of Consciousness

There are non-observable factors, which influence behavior of a living system at the observable level. If science has to be expanded beyond Planck"s scale of measurement, then these non-observable influential(s) are required to be conceptually defined, localized and described. Their operational mechanism is to be explored. This paper precisely does this by identifying those influential non-observables as consciousness, mind, self, life-principle, and information. Information, in fact, remains the connecting link at the interface between non-observables and observables. When these non-observable influential(s) could be given a place in the algorithms of science, several research questions and hypothesis could be generated leading to an environment for fruitful consciousness research.
