Phloretin-induced suppression of oxidative and nitrosative stress attenuates doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in rats

Objective:To compare the cardioprotective efficacy of equimolar doses(50 mM/kg,p.o.)of phloretin and genistein against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in ***:Cardiotoxicity was induced in rats by intraperitoneal injection of 6 mg/kg doxorubicin on alternative days till the cumulative dose reached 30 mg/*** study included four treatment groups of rats(n=6):the control group(0.5%carboxymethyl cellulose solution-treated),the doxorubicin-treated group(0.5%carboxymethyl cellulose solution along with doxorubicin),the genistein-treated group(50 mM/kg/day;*** with doxorubicin)and phloretin-treated group(50 mM/kg/day;*** with doxorubicin).On the 10th day of dosing,rats were anesthetized for recording ECG,mean arterial pressure,and left ventricular *** stress,nitric oxide levels,and inflammatory cytokines were estimated in the cardiac *** function parameters(creatine kinase MB,lactate dehydrogenase,aspartate aminotransferase,and alanine transaminase)were estimated in the serum ***:Phloretin treatment inhibited doxorubicin-induced oxidative stress and also reduced nitric oxide levels in cardiac tissues of *** administration attenuated doxorubicin-induced alterations in hemodynamic parameters(heart rate,mean arterial blood pressure,and left ventricular function)and suppressed the expression of pro-inflammatory *** cardiac injury markers like creatine kinase MB,lactate dehydrogenase,aspartate aminotransferase,and alanine transaminase were reduced by both genistein and *** these effects of phloretin were more prominent than ***:Phloretin offers cardioprotection that is comparable to genistein,a clinically validated cardioprotectant against doxorubicin-induced *** studies are needed to confirm and establish the therapeutic utility of phloretin as a chemopreventive adjuvant to doxorubicin chemotherapy.

The sustainability of rice production continues to be a subject of uncertainty and inquiry attributed to shifts in climatic conditions. In light of the impending climate change crisis and the high labor and water costs accompanying it, direct-seeded rice(DsR) is unquestionably one of the most practical solutions. Despite its resource and climate-friendly advantages, early maturing rice faces weed competitiveness and seedling establishment challenges. Resolving these issues is crucial for promoting its wider adoption among farmers, presenting it as a more effective sustainable rice cultivation method globally. Diverse traditional and contemporary breeding methods are employed to mitigate the limitations of the DsR approach, leveraging advanced techniques such as speed breeding and genome editing. Focusing on key traits like mesocotyl length elongation, early seedling vigor, root system architecture, and weed competitiveness holds promise for transformative improvements in DsR adaptation at a broader scale within farming communities. This review aims to summarize how these features contribute to increased crop production in DsR conditions and explore the research efforts focusing on enhancing DsR adaptation through these traits. Emphasizing the pivotal role of these game-changing traits in DsR adaptation, our analysis sheds light on their potential transformative impact and offers valuable insights for advancing DsR practices.

Plasma cascaded solid wastes for possible adsorption of NO_(2)in diesel exhaust

Extensive use of fossil fuel has led to an increase in solid and gaseous particulates in the environment,which in turn necessitated newer,effective,and economical control strategies to abate pollutants,particularly gaseous *** the current research work,focus has been placed on utilizing industry wastes to adsorb nitrogen oxides present in diesel engine exhaust,which is pre-treated by *** exhaust from a 5 kW diesel generator is exposed to discharge plasma where the oxidation of nitric oxide to nitrogen dioxide occurs,which is then made to flow through another reactor filled with industry wastes drawn from agriculture,foundry,utility,marine industry,etc.,comprising mulberry waste,rice husk,wheat husk,areca nut husk,sugarcane bagasse,coffee husk,foundry sand,lignite ash,red mud,and oyster *** the adsorption of nitrogen dioxide was observed in all the wastes,reduction of nitric oxide was observed in metallic compound-based industry *** about 184 J/L,specific energy plasma cascaded industrial waste red mud yielded 98%NO_(x)removal efficiency,and that with agriculture rice husk waste yielded 53%NOx ***_(2)/Fe_(2)O_(3)present in industry wastes might have exhibited photo-catalysis in visible light resulting in the possible reduction of NO.A new pathway for recycling the waste can be expected through nitrogen dioxide adsorption,and the results are further discussed with respect to plasma-alone and cascaded plasma adsorbent systems.

A controlled transition between two different ion acceleration mechanisms would pave the way to achieving different ion energies and spectral features within the same experimental set up,depending on the region of *** on numerical simulations conducted over a wide range of experimentally achievable parameter space,reported here is a comprehensive investigation of the different facets of ion acceleration by relativistically intense circularly polarized laser pulses interacting with thin near-critical-density plasma *** results show that the plasma thickness,exponential density gradient,and laser frequency chirp can be controlled to switch the interaction from the transparent operating regime to the opaque one,thereby enabling the choice of a Maxwellian-like ion energy distribution with a cutoff energy in the relativistically transparent regime or a quasi-monoenergetic spectrum in the opaque ***,it is established that a multispecies target configuration can be used effectively for optimal generation of quasi-monoenergetic ion bunches of a desired ***,the feasibility is demonstrated for generating monoenergetic proton beams with energy peak atℰ≈20–40 MeV and a narrow energy spread ofΔℰ/ℰ≈18%–28.6%confined within a divergence angle of∼175 mrad at a reasonable laser peak intensity of I0≃5.4×10^(20)W/cm^(2).

Rational construction of flexible free-standing electrocatalysts featuring long-lasting durability,high efficiency,and wide temperature tolerance under harsh practical operations are fundamentally significant for commercial zinc-air ***,3D flexible free-standing bifunctional membrane electrocatalysts composed of covalently cross-linked supramolecular polymer networks with nitrogen-deficient carbon nitride nanotubes are fabricated(referred to as PEMAC@NDCN)by a facile self-templated ***@NDCN demonstrates the lowest reversible oxygen bifunctional activity of 0.61 V with exceptional long-lasting durability,which outperforms those of commercial Pt/C and RuO_(2).Theoretical calculations and control experi-ments reveal the boosted electron transfer,electrolyte mass/ion transports,and abundant active surface site ***,the constructed alkaline Zn-air battery with PEMAC@NDCN air-cathode reveals superb power density,capacity,and discharge-charge cycling stability(over 2160 cycles)compared to the reference Pt/C+RuO_(2).solid-state Zn-air batteries enable a high power density of 211 mW cm^(−2),energy density of 1056 Wh kg^(−1),stable charge-discharge cycling of 2580 cycles for 50 mA cm^(−2),and wide temperature tolerance from−40 to 70℃with retention of 86%capacity compared to room-temperature counterparts,illustrating prospects over harsh operations.

The amount of needed control messages in wireless sensor networks(WsN)is affected by the storage strategy of detected *** broadcasting superfluous control messages consumes excess energy,the network lifespan can be extended if the quantity of control messages is *** this study,an optimized storage technique having low control overhead for tracking the objects in WsN is *** basic concept is to retain observed events in internal memory and preserve the relationship between sensed information and sensor nodes using a novel inexpensive data structure entitled Ordered Binary Linked List(OBLL).Whenever an object passes over the sensor area,the recognizing sensor can immediately produce an OBLL along the object’s *** retrieve the entire information,the OBLL can be traversed with logarithmic complexity which is much less than the traversing complexity of existing linked list *** evaluation and simulations were carried out to ensure that the suggested technique minimizes the number of messages and thus saving energy and extending the network life.

Evaluating Effective Pediatric Psychological Trauma Treatments Post-Traumatic Natural Disasters

What are the best treatment approaches for children experiencing trauma after natural disasters? Historically, the U.s. emergency response system has not provided psychological support to communities impacted by disasters. Instead, the traditional emergency response community focused on ensuring the physical survival of the individuals and communities that it protects. The goal of all disaster interventions, whether physical or psychological in nature, is to restore the individual to his/her level of pre-disaster functioning. Emphasizing psychological intervention and treatment after disasters is essential in restoring health in individuals post-trauma because mental health is necessary for proper physical health, forming of coping mechanisms, and the ability of individuals to move past the trauma and lead normal lives. At young ages, the body is still developing mentally and physically, meaning the impact of a traumatic event may be completely different from that of most adults. For example, children have greater thought suppression, which leads to an associated increase in PTsD and internalizing behaviors. Thus, children require a different treatment approach to ensure that trauma is not long-lasting and prevalent in future adult life, such as through trouble expressing and regulating emotions, as well as vulnerability to future exposure to stress, which may negatively impact individuals’ identity and interpersonal abilities. The purpose of this review paper is to evaluate various memory-related disorders to then explain the pros and cons of various treatment approaches based on their efficiency in treating PTsD-related symptoms post-natural disasters in children. This review identifies the best pediatric trauma treatment approaches used after natural disasters, highlighting a lack of efficient, effective, and specific psychological treatments. By comparing various existing psychological treatments, this paper provides future directions for research by identifying
