The Effect of a Novel Complex, Composed of Ceramide, Energizing Peptide and Camu Camu Extract, on Epidermal Barrier Function and Dermal Antiaging Properties in Ex Vivo Human Skin Small Live Cohort

The skin’s primary function is to protect the body against a spectrum of environmental stressors, including mechanical insults, microorganisms, chemicals, and allergens. Located in the outermost layers, the primary structures and components responsible for the skin’s barrier function are susceptible to environmental variables, dermatological conditions, and the aging process. The ensuing alterations to structure, composition, and organizational attributes of the epidermal barrier can impact its integrity and functionality. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of a novel complex composed of a ceramide, energizing peptide, and Camu Camu extract (SUPCERATTM complex) on specific markers of epidermal barrier integrity, as well as epidermal and dermal function. All the experiments were conducted on fresh human abdominal skin explants. intradermal production of hyaluronic acid, epidermal claudin-1, and ceramide synthase 3 expressions, as well as epidermal lipids content were assessed using specific fluorescent stainings on ex vivo skin after the application of the complex or placebo. Additionally, dermal elastase and collagenase activities were assessed using in tubo enzymatic assays. Lastly, the effect of a cosmetic cream containing SUPCERATTM complex was assessed using subjective Global Aesthetic improvement Scale (GAiS) in a small cohort of patients after 60 days of use. The application of the SUPCERATTM complex on ex vivo skin led to significant increase in dermal hyaluronic acid content and epidermal activity of claudin-1, ceramide synthase 3 and epidermal ceramide content. Furthermore, in tubo enzymatic assays demonstrated inhibition of both dermal elastase and collagenase activities. in addition, the patient-reported results indicated significant improvements in skin quality and appearance. .

Microalgae,a sustainable source of multi beneficial components has been discovered and could be utilised in pharmaceutical,bioenergy and food *** study aims to investigate the sugaring-out effect on the recovery of protein from wet green microalga,Chlorella sorokiniana CY1 which was assisted with sonication.A comparison of monosaccharides and disaccharides as one of the phaseforming constituents shows that the monosaccharides,glucose was the most suitable sugar in forming the phases with acetonitrile to enhance the production of protein(52% of protein).The protein productivity of microalgae was found to be significantly influenced by the volume ratio of both phases,as the yield of protein increased to 77%.The interval time between the sonication as well as the sonication modes were influencing the protein productivity as *** optimum protein productivity was obtained with 10s of resting time in between *** mode of sonication was suitable to break down the cell wall of microalgae compared to continuous mode as a lower protein yield was obtained with the application of continuous *** optimum condition for protein extraction were found as followed:200g/L glucose as bottom phase with volume ratio of 1:1.25,10s of resting time for ultrasonication,5s of ultrasonication in pulse mode and 0.25g of biomass *** high yield of protein about 81% could be obtained from microalgae which demonstrates the potential of this source and expected to play an important role in the future.

Probing temperature-dependent interlayer coupling in a MoS2/h-BN heterostructure

Stacking of atomically thin layers of two-dimensional materials has revealed extraordinary physical phenomena owing to van der Waals(vdW)interaction at the ***,most of the studies focused on the transition metal dichalcogenide(TMD)/TMD heterostructure,while the interlayer coupling of the TMD/hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN)heterostructure has not been extensively explored despite its *** this study,the temperature-dependent interlayer coupling is demonstrated in a heterostructure of molybdenum disulfide(MoS2)and *** interface between MoS2 and the insulating substrate exerts a significant spectroscopic impact on MoS2 through substrate-induced local strain,charged impurity,and vdW *** non-resonant conditions,temperature-dependent peak shifts in Raman and photoluminescence(PL)spectra of MoS2 reveal the evolution of interlayer *** frequencies and PL peak energies at different temperatures demonstrate how substrate-induced strain,impurity,and vdW interactions at the interface influence phonon vibration and excitonic transition of *** resonant conditions at low temperature,anomalous Raman modes appear in the MoS2/h-BN heterostructure because of the enhanced electron-phonon coupling and vdW *** anomalous Raman modes are quantitatively investigated by the deconvolution of the resonance Raman spectra and described by interlayer coupling at low temperature,in agreement with complementary indications from the temperature-dependent evolution of non-resonant Raman and PL spectra.

4-Octylphenol（4-OP） is a common biodegradation product of a widely used group of non-ionic surfactants,the octylphenolpolythoxylates（OPEOs）.However,compared to these parent compounds that have been extensively used in many industrial sectors including textile,petroleum and paper production,octylphenol is known to be more persistent and estrogenically *** this study,14 filamentous fungi were isolated from soil,water and sludge samples collected from waste water treatment plant in Taipei and plastic industry waste water in *** isolates belong to six genera such as Aspergillus（2 spp.）,Fusarium（6 spp.）,Nectriaceae（2 spp.）,Pseudallescheria,Scedosporium,Trichoderma（2 spp.）.Of 14 fungal isolates,10 strains grew effectively on solid medium with a wide variety of endocrine disrupting chemicals such as nonylphenol,octylphenol,octylphenolpolyethoxylate,estrone,17P-estradiol and *** further screening,the percentage of octylphenol degradation was determined using HPLC *** the 10 fungi were able to degrade and utilize octylphenol as the sole carbon *** our knowledge,this is the first report of octylphenol degradation by filamentous *** 14 days,the most effective degradation（＞70%） was observed in three strains of Fusarium *** Fusarium oxysporum（2strains） and Fusarium sp.,the degradation rate was around 65%.in the other strains such as those of Aspergillus and Trichoderma,55%degradation was *** that the most effective degradation potential was observed in Fusarium solani,this species is currently under further studies.

Lean Healthy Children with Short Stature Have Distinct Eating Patterns

Nutrition plays an essential role in normal linear growth in children. Knowledge of the eating styles and dietary consumption of healthy short children from developed countries is scarce. The aim of this study was to investigate the dietary patterns in idiopathic short stature （iSS） and relatively low weight children compared to children with normal stature and weight. This research is a case-control study of 86 pre-pubertal healthy children, mean age 5.9 ± 1.5 years. The study group comprised 43 iSS children; 43 age-matched children with normal stature and weight served as controls. Outcome measures included： dietary patterns and physical activity. The absolute daily average energy, protein and carbohydrate intake was significantly lower in the iSS children （P 〈 0.05）; after correcting for body surface area, no significant differences were found between groups. intake of micronutrients calcium, iron, zinc, vitamin A and vitamin C, expressed as percentage from Recommended Dietary Allowance, was significantly lower in the iSS children （P 〈 0.05）, who had lower food responsiveness, higher satiety responsiveness, lesser enjoyment of food and were slower eaters （P 〈 0.001）. Physical activity was sedentary in both the iSS cases and controls. Our findings in healthy, pre-pubertal, relatively lean iSS children point to a distinct eating pattern with no alteration in physical activity. Understanding the differences in dietary intake and eating behaviors may be beneficial in the development of targeted nutritional intervention for lean iSS children.

Titanium Carbide Effects on the Fracture of inconel 100—A Case Study

Carbides and borides appear as minor phases in inconel 100, although the carbon content (0.18%) is relatively high in comparison to other nickel-base superalloys. The material properties of this alloy depend on a number of interrelated microstructural parameters, including the volume fraction of γ' to γ, grain size, elemental distribution, and precipitation of carbides and borides. This study presents a characterization and a failure analysis of inconel 100 samples loaded to fracture at 760℃ and an examination of their fractography. Chemical analysis, optical metallography, SEM and EDS were used for the characterization of the unusual areas of fracture that were found on the samples. The thermodynamic stability of TiC led to the conclusion that the possibility of creating very large, stable mono carbides, especially TiC carbide, during the production process is the reason for the short time to failure obtained in this work.
