This paper presents a novel system for violent scenes detection, which is based on machine learning to handle visual and audio features. MKL （Multiple Kernel Learning） is applied so that multimodality of videos can be maximized. The largest features of our system is that mid-level concepts clustering is proposed and implemented in order to learn mid-level concepts implicitly. By this algorithm, our system does not need manually tagged annotations. The whole system is trained on the dataset from MediaEval 2013 Affect Task and evaluated by its official metric. The obtained results outperformed its best score.

We integrated a photosynthetic sub-model into the daily Century model (DayCent) to improve the estimations of seasonal changes in carbon fluxes at the Niwot Ridge LTER site and the Harvard forest LTER site (DayCent-Photo). The photosynthetic sub-model, adapted from the SIPNET/PnET family of models, includes solar radiation and vapor pressure deficit controls on production, as well as temperature and water stress terms. A key feature we added to the base photosynthetic equations is the addition of a variable maximum net photosynthetic rate (Amax). We optimized the parameters controlling photosynthesis using a variation of the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm along with data-assimilation techniques. The model was optimized and validated against observed net ecosystem exchange (NEE) and estimated gross primary production (GPP) and ecosystem respiration (RESP) values for AmeriFlux sites at Niwot Ridge and Harvard forest. The inclusion of a variable Amax rate greatly improved model performance (NEE RMSE = 0.63 gC center dot m(-2), AIC = 2099) versus a version with a single Amax parameter (NEE RMSE = 0.74 gC center dot m(-2), AIC = 3724). DayCent-Photo was able to capture the inter-annual and seasonal flux patterns for NEE, GPP, ecosystem respiration (RESP), and daily actual evapotranspiration (AET), but tended to overestimate yearly NEE uptake. The DayCent-Photo model has been successfully set up to simulate daily NEE, GPP, RESP, and AET for deciduous forest, conifer forests, and grassland systems in the US using AmeriFlux data sets and has recently been improved to include the impact of UV radiation surface litter decay (DayCent-UV). The simulated influence of a variable Amax rate suggests a need for further studies on the process controls affecting the seasonal photosynthetic rates. The results for all of the forest and grassland sites show that maximum Amax values occurs early during the growing period and taper off toward the end of the growing season.

AIM： To retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness of impedance monitoring for predicting popping during radiofrequency ablation （RFA） using internally cooled electrodes. METHODS： We reviewed 140 patients （94 males, 46 females; age range 73.0 ＋ 11.1 year） who underwent RFA between February 2006 and November 2008 with a modified protocol using a limited power delivery rather than a conventional one to avoid popping. All the patients provided their written informed consent, and the study was approved by the institutional review board. Intraprocedural impedances were measured for the study subjects, and the tumors were classified into three types according to the characteristics of their impedance curves： increasing, flat, or decreasing. The tumors were further sorted into seven subtypes （A-G） depending on the curvature of the impedance curve＇ s increase or decrease. Relative popping rates were determined for the three types and seven subtypes. A chi-square test was performed to estimate statistical ***： A total of 148 nodules treated by RFA were analyzed. The study samples included 132 nodules of hepatocellular carcinoma, 14 nodules of metastatic liver cancer, and two nodules of intrahepatic cholangio- carcinoma. The numbers of nodules with each imped- ance curve type were as follows： 37 increasing-type nodules, 43 fiat-type nodules, and 68 decreasing-type nodules. Popping occurrence rates were 24.3%, 46.5% and 64.7%, respectively. Flat-type nodules exhibited a significantly higher rate of popping compared to increasing-type nodules （P = 0.039）. Decreasing-type nodules exhibited a significantly higher rate of popping compared to increasing-type nodules （P 〈 0.0001）. No- tably, nodules that showed a sharp decrease in imped- ance in the latter ablation period （subtype E） exhibited a significantly higher rate of popping compared to other subtypes. CONCLUSION： Intraprocedural impedance monitoring can be a useful tool to predict the occurrence of pop- ping

Granulomatous reaction in hepatic inflammatory angiomyolipoma after chemoembolization and spontaneous rupture

A 77-year-old Japanese woman was transported to a nearby hospital due to sudden abdominal pain and transient loss of consciousness. Abdominal computed tomography(CT) suggested hemoperitoneum and hepatic nodule. She was conservatively treated. Contrast-enhanced CT two months later revealed an increased mass size, and the enhancement pattern suggested the possibility of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Under a clinical diagnosis of HCC, transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) was performed. A subsequent imaging study revealed that most of the lipiodol used for the embolization was washed out. Therefore, surgical resection was performed. Histologically, the nodule contained numerous inflammatory cells including small lymphocytes, plasma cells and macrophages. Notably, epithelioid granulomatous features with multinucleated giant cells were observed in both the nodule and background liver. Some of the multinucleated giant cells contained oil lipid. Among the infiltrating inflammatory cells,spindle-shaped, histiocytoid or myoid tumor cells with eosinophilic cytoplasm were found. The tumor cells were positive for Melan A and HMB45. The nodule contained many Ig G4-positive plasma cells; these were counted and found to number 72.6 cells/HPF(range: 61-80). The calculated Ig G4:Ig G ratio was 33.2%. The nodule was finally diagnosed as previously ruptured inflammatory angiomyolipoma modified by granulomatous reaction after TACE.

Gastro-protective action of lafutidine mediated by capsaicin-sensitive afferent neurons without interaction with TRPV1 and involvement of endogenous prostaglandins

AIM： Lafutidine, a histamine H2 receptor antagonist, exhibits gastro-protective action mediated by capsaicinsensitive afferent neurons （CSN）. We compared the effect between lafutidine and capsaicin, with respect to the interaction with endogenous prostaglandins （PG）, nitric oxide （NO） and the afferent neurons, including transient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 1 （TRPV1）. METHODS： Male SD rats and C57BL/6 mice, both wildtype and prostacyclin IP receptor knockout animals, were used after 18 h of fasting. Gastric lesions were induced by the po administration of HCl/ethanol （60% in 150 mmol/L HCl） in a volume of 1 mL for rats or 0.3 mL for mice. RESULTS： Both lafutidine and capsaicin （1-10 mg/kg, po） afforded dose-dependent protection against HCI/ ethanol in rats and mice. The effects were attenuated by both the ablation of CSN and pretreatment with NG-nitro- L-arginine methyl ester, yet only the effect of capsaicin was mitigated by prior administration of capsazepine, the TRPV1 antagonist, as well as indomethacin. Lafutidine protected the stomach against HCl/ethanol in IP receptor knockout mice, similar to wild-type animals, while capsaicin failed to afford protection in the animals lacking IP receptors. Neither of these agents affected the mucosal PGE2 or 6-keto PGF1α contents in rat stomachs. Capsaicin evoked an increase in [Ca^2＋]i in rat TRPV1-transfected HEK293 cells while lafutidine did not. CONCLUSION： These results suggest that although both lafutidine and capsaicin exhibit gastro-protective action mediated by CSN, the mode of their effects differs regarding the dependency on endogenous PGs/IP receptors and TRPV1. It is assumed that lafutidine interacts with CSN at yet unidentified sites other than TRPV1.

城市大气颗粒物污染和致敏花粉的污染已经对人群健康和城市空气质量产生了较为严重的影响.这2种污染物的协同生物效应正在成为大气环境科学、环境毒理学、免疫学等学科研究的前沿和热点研究领域.以上海大气中的细/超细颗粒物和日本关东地区致敏花粉(柳杉)为例,阐述了大气细/超细颗粒物的表征以及花粉致敏的过程.在研究中,观察到了日本柳杉花粉壁附着有直径<0.7μm的含变应原蛋白的微粒(Ubisch body),并用ELISA法揭示了日本关东地区大气颗粒物中含变应原蛋白的颗粒主要分布在<1μm的粒径范围内;而在上海大气颗粒物中,化学元素总量的最大值出现在细/超细粒径颗粒物(0.3～0.18μm)范围,污染元素S和Pb的质量浓度在超细(纳米尺度)/细颗粒物中比在其他粒径范围颗粒物中要高,另外还发现在上海大气颗粒物中有植物花粉的存在.城市大气颗粒物中的主要组分,柴油机车尾气颗粒物(DEPs)与飞散花粉之间存在协同生物效应,但其机制和过程还不清楚,在最新研究成果的基础上并结合国内外相关研究领域的进展,对飞散花粉与大气细/超细颗粒物的协同生物效应的研究进行了总结并提出今后研究的方向.
