New Technologies and Systems for High Quality Citrus Fruit Production, Labor-saving and Orchard Construction in Mountain Areas of Japan

Novel technologies have been necessary for improving fruit quality and productivity of citrus,labor-saving and orchard conservation on steep slope lands since aging of growers and decrease in the number of successors is remarkable in mountain areas of southwestern *** purpose of this paper is to introduce new technologies for improving citrus production that have been developed in recent years.A new fruit quality control system using drip irrigation and liquid fertilization technique combined with year-round plastic mulching was developed,and it enables high quality and stable citrus fruit *** and/or nutrient solution is automatically supplied through drip tubes that are laid under the mulching sheets to give adequate water stress,so as to improve sugar and acid content of fruit.A new transportation system for steep sloping citrus orchards,which is a combination of the monorail system and contour narrow paths,was suggested.A small walking cultivator was developed to explain the procedure of narrow path *** introducing the narrow path,working hours for fertilizer and chemical herbicide application were *** prevention mapping of citrus orchards on slope lands was developed based on computer-aided seepage estimation and topographic *** mapping can show zones of both ascending flow and descending flow of underground water during heavy rains in citrus *** mapping is considered to be effective for the management of orchards and prevention of erosion on slope lands.

Analysis of the Abnormal Segregation of Pathogenicity in Magnaporthe grisea by Using a Genetic Cross of Oryza and Eleusine Isolates

A genetic cross between Oryza isolate Y93-164a-1 and Eleusine isolate SA98-4 was established, and the pathogenicity of 151 F1 progeny isolates was investigated on both host plants rice and finger millet. Results showed that the segregation of pathogenicity in this genetic cross was abnormal, i.e., most of the progeny isolates were nonpathogenic on both host plants. However, no abnormal segregation was observed when middle repetitive sequence MGR586 and 31 single-copy RFLP markers from all of the chromosomes were genetically analyzed. At the same time, comparison of the chromosomal organization among two pairs of parental isolates did not find any genomic abnormity. These results suggested that the ＂abnormal＂ inheritance of pathogenicity in this cross was most likely due to the reassortment of numerous host species specificity genes but not the biased segregation of the host species specificity genes. The host species specificities in M. grisea were likely to be multigenically controlled, at least in the genetic cross involving rice pathogen and the grasses pathogen other than rice.

Behavior of Transversal Crack on Slab Corner During V-H Rolling Process

The behavior of transversal cracks on the surface of the slab corner during vertical and horizontal （V-H） rolling process with flat vertical roll and groove vertical roll was simulated by explicit dynamic finite element method. The closure and growth of crack and the contact pressure on surfaces of the crack in contacting zone between slab and roll during rolling process were analyzed. The results showed that during vertical rolling process, when the groove vertical roll is used, the maximum contact pressure on surfaces of the crack is 115 MPa, and the closure of crack is stable when the flat vertical roll is used, the maximum contact pressure on surfaces of the crack is 70 MPa, and it fluctuates greatly. During horizontal rolling process, when groove vertical roll is used, the contact pressure becomes zero which may accelerate the growth of crack when flat vertical roll is used, there is still contact pressure. The cal culated results are in good agreement with the results of test.

Primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment:evaluation of a minimally restricted face-down positioning after pars plana vitrectomy and gas tamponade

AIM:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a minimally restricted face-down postoperative positioning following pars plana vitrectomy(PPV)with gas tamponade for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD).METHODS:Patients with primary RRD treated with PPV and gas tamponade and followed up for at least 6 mo were selected for the *** phakic eyes underwent simultaneous cataract *** patients were required to be in a postoperative position that prevented downward flow of retinal *** with macular detachment were positioned face-down for only a couple of *** patients were assessed for preoperative and postoperative best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),anatomical retinal reattachment rate,and postoperative ***:In total,40 eyes of 39 patients with primary RRD were included in the study.A single tear was present in 30 eyes(75.0%),multiple retinal tears were present in nine eyes(22.5%),and oral dialysis was present in one eye(2.5%).The anatomical success rate was 90.0%(36 cases)after the primary surgery,and the final anatomical success rate was 100%.The BCVA improved significantly(P<0.001)from 0.75 logarithm angle of resolution(log MAR)preoperatively to 0.12 log MAR at the final *** complications included intraocular pressure elevation(≥25 mm Hg)in 11 patients(27.5%),fibrin formation in two patients(5.0%),pupillary capture of the intraocular lens in two patients(5.0%),and posterior synechia in one patient(2.5%).CONCLUSION:A minimally restricted face-down and flexible postoperative positioning after PPV and gas tamponade for primary RRD is effective and safe.

Explicit Dynamic FEM Analysis of Multipass Vertical-Horizontal Rolling

Three passes of plate rolling during vertical-horizontal rolling process are simulated with explicit dynamic finite element method and updating geometric method. The equivalent strain and stress fields, and shape change at the head and tail of slab during rolling are obtained. The calculated result of the shape at the head and tail of slab is in good agreement with the measured one. The explicit dynamic finite element method and updating geometric method can be used effectively to analyze the multipass vertical-horizontal （V-H） rolling process.

INFLUENCES OF EDGING ROLL SHAPE ON THE PLASTIC STRAIN DISTRIBUTION OF SLAB DURING MULTI-PASS V-H ROLLING PROCESS

Multi-pass slab vertical-horizontal （V-H） rolling process with variable edging roll shape have been simulated with explicit dynamic finite element method and updating geometric method. The distributions of plastic strain contour in slab daring rolling process with different edging roll and under different rolling stage have been obtained. The results show that there exist two thin strain assembling zones in slab when the flat edging roll is used, and there just exist one strain assembling zone in slab when the edging roll with groove is used. And compared the deformation equality between flat edging roll and edging roll with groove, the lateris better than the former, which supplies the theory prove to the slab deformation distribution during V-H rolling process and is helpful for predicting the slab texture.

Expression of Interleukin-11 and Interleukin-11 receptor a in human colorectal adenocarcinoma; Immunohistochemical analyses and correlation with clinicopathological factors

AIM： There is strong evidence that interleukin-11 （IL-11） is involved in the regulation of tumor progression, cellular growth and differentiation. Recently, interleukin-11 receptor （IL-11R） has been detected on some cancer cells. In this study, we investigated the expression of IL-11 and IL-11R in colorectal adenocarcinoma. METHODS： To elucidate the involvement of IL-11 and IL-11Rα in human intestinal adenocarcinomas, we examined 115 cases of surgically resected human colonic adenocarcinoma and 11 cases of adenoma by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. RESULTS： Among 115 cases of adenocarcinoma, 100 cases （87.0%） showed positive staining in the cytoplasm of carcinoma cells for the IL-11, and 87 cases （75.6%） were positive for the IL-11Ra. Six cases （54.5%） and four cases （36.4%） of 11 adenomas were positive for IL-11 and IL-11Ra, respectively. The expression of IL- 11Ra correlated with the histological differentiation （P=0.033503）, the depth of tumor invasion （P= 0.006395）, Dukes＇ classification （P= 0.015648） and lymphatic invasion （P= 0.003865）. However, the expression of IL- 11Rα was not correlated with the venous invasion and the presence of lymph node metastasis. The expression of IL-11 was not correlated with any clinicopathological factors. In Western blot analysis, two human colorectal carcinoma cell lines and four tissues of surgically resected human carcinoma expressed both IL-11 and IL-11Rα proteins. CONCLUSION： IL-11 and IL-11Rα are highly expressed in human colorectal adenocarcinoma and the IL-11Rα expression is correlated with clinicopathological factors, These findings suggest that the expression of IL-11Rα is an important factor for the invasion of human colorectal adenocarcinoma.

Research of Rolling Super Heavy H-Beam from ***

The authors researched to develop the new rolling method for H 1000 - 1200×400 mm especially with thick flange from slabs:250 mm×1600 mm by using FEM simulation and model test rolling with special designed grooves of the breakdown mill and universal mills.

Study on Parasexual Recombination between <i>Pyricularia oryzae</i>and <i>Pyricularia grisea</i>

Rice blast fungus is notorious for changeability in pathogenicity, but it lacks sexual life cycle. It can be postulated that such an imperfect fungus has another mechanism for generating genetic variations. Recent studies concerning comparative genomics reveal that parasexual recombination may play important role in the evolution of rice blast fungus. To observe the parasexualism of rice blast (Pyricularia oryzae) and crabgrass blast (Pyricularia grisea) fungus double inoculation and punch method were applied in this experiment. A total of 520 isolates collected from the double inoculated lesions was subjected to PCR-RFLP analysis of the ITS region to identify subcultures of the inoculated rice blast isolates. As a result, four isolates from the three double inoculated lesions with SA13-1ME and TP106 were identified as subcultures of TP106. To access the recombination genotypes, a total of 17 isolates from the three lesions was subjected to MAGGY-DNA fingerprint analysis. However, recombinant DNA fingerprint patterns between TP106 and SA13-1ME were not detected among the 17 isolates. Although TP022 was not recovered from the double inoculated lesions, the fact that TP106 was recovered from the double inoculated lesion indicates that rice blast fungus can invade and colonized in blast lesion on crabgrass. The opportunistic infection on the double inoculated lesions observed in this study potentially provides new insight into the life cycle of rice blast pathogen.
