Endoscopic diagnosis of cytomegalovirus gastritis after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

AIM:To clarify the endoscopic and clinical findings of cytomegalovirus(CMV) gastritis after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(allo-SCT).METHODS:Between 1999 and 2005,523 patients underwent allo-SCT at our hospital,and 115 of these patients with gastrointestinal symptoms underwent ***:CMV gastritis was diagnosed pathologically in seven patients(1.3%) with the other 108 patients serving as *** of the seven patients developed positive CMV antigenemia,and five complained of abdominal *** of abdominal pain preceded CMV antigenemia in four of the f ive *** examination showed oozing(n=2),erosion(n=6),and redness(n=5) in the seven patients with CMV gastritis,while the control patients showed oozing(n=3),erosion(n=24),and redness(n=100).Erosion and oozing were more frequently documented in patients with CMV gastritis compared with the controls,and the differences were statistically significant(P=0.0012 and 0.029,respectively).CMV inclusion bodies were documented in 12 of 14 biopsy specimens obtained from erosive lesions,while they were identif ied in 4 of 15 biopsy specimens obtained from lesions other than erosions(P=0.0025).CONCLUSION:This study suggests that erosion and oozing,as well as abdominal pain,are useful indicators in the diagnosis of CMV gastritis following allo-SCT.

Deformation behaviors of magnesium alloy AZ31 sheet in cold deep drawing

To investigate how the popular magnesium alloy AZ31 sheet(aluminum 3%,zinc 1%)behaves in cold working,deep drawing experiments at room temperature,along with finite element(FE)simulation,were performed on the cold forming sheet of the AZ31 alloy after being annealed under various *** activities were focused on the fracture pattern,limit drawing ratio(LDR),deformation load,thickness distribution,anisotropic effect,as well as the influences of the annealing conditions and tool configuration on *** results display that punch shoulder radius instead of die clearance,has much influence on the thickness *** anisotropy is remarkable in cold working,which adversely impacts the *** fracture often happens on the side wall at an angle to axis of the deformed *** results also imply that the LDR for the material under present experimental conditions is 1.72,and annealing the material at 450 ℃ for 1 h may be preferable for the cold deep drawing.

The present paper proposes a control method to excite spinning solar sail membranes for three-dimensional *** optical property switching,the input is given as the change in magnitude of the solar radiation *** resonance point of this system varies with the vibration state due to its nonlinearity and the change in equilibrium *** deal with this,a state feedback control law that automatically tracks the resonance point is developed in the present *** proposed method enables decentralized control of the actuators on the sail,each of which determines the control input independently using only the information of vibration *** proposed method is validated using numerical *** results show that the nonlinear system behaves differently from the linear system,and the vibration grows using the decentralized control regardless of resonance point variation.

为克服现今热冲压的难题,开发了一种高强度钢零件的新型热冲压技术。利用快速电阻加热,该热冲压技术所需的设备比电炉加热的设备更简单。与传统液压加工相比,该工艺采用机械伺服高速冲压可以提高成形性。通过具有局部旁路电阻加热的剪切模具,制备了具有不同强度分布的零件。局部电阻加热使得剪切区的流变应力减小,从而使模具淬火钢零件和超高强钢板的剪切更容易。通过对杯壁进行电阻加热,利用热齿键成型技术制备了超高强度钢齿轮盖。同时,还通过热冲压成型制备了汽车用中空导流槽。一次热压成形工艺包括电阻加热、成形、剪切和模具冷却等流程,该工艺适用于相对较小的高强度钢零件。

In this study,a high-density polyethylene（HDPE,5-mm-thick,0.95 g/cm3） surface was treated using an RF capacitive atmospheric pressure cold Ar plasma *** using this Ar plasma jet,a hydrophilic HDPE surface was formed during the plasma *** particular, the effects of an additive gas（N;or O2） on the HDPE surface treatment were investigated in *** was shown that the addition of N2 or O2 gas had an important influence on the HDPE surface *** to pure Ar plasma treatment,a lower value of water contact angle （WCA） was obtained when a trace of N2 or O2 gas was *** was also found that besides the quantities of active species in the plasma jet,the treatment temperature played an important role in the HDPE surface *** is because surface molecular motion is not negligible when the treatment temperature is close to the melting point of the polymer.

Influence of Additive Gas on Electrical and Optical Characteristics of Non-equilibrium Atmospheric Pressure Argon Plasma Jet

Electrical and optical properties of an argon plasma jet were characterized. In particular, effects of an additive gas, namely nitrogen or oxygen, on these properties were studied in detail. The plasma jet was found to be of a glow-like discharge, which scarcely changed upon the injection of an additive gas, either directly or through a glass capillary. Optical emission spectroscopy characterization revealed that excited argon atoms were the predominant active species in this plasma jet. Metastable argon atoms were highly quenched, and N2（C3yIu） became the main energy carrier following nitrogen injection. When oxygen was added to the afterglow zone through a glass capillary, no significant quenching effect was observed and the number of oxygen atoms decreased with the increase in oxygen concentration. Finally, to demonstrate an application of this plasma jet, a high-density polyethylene surface was treated with argon, argon/nitrogen, and argon/oxygen plasmas.

Effects of tropical forest conversion into oil palm plantations on nitrous oxide emissions:A meta-analysis

Oil palm plantations have dramatically expanded in tropical Asia over the past *** their establishment has been projected to increase nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)emissions,earlier reports have shown inconsistent *** study analyzed these previously published data to compare N_(2)O emissions in oil palm plantations to reference forests.A linear mixed-eff ects model was used to examine the signifi cance of the eff ect of establishing oil palm plantations on N_(2)O emissions,rather than to calculate mean eff ect sizes because of limitations in the data *** results indicated that N_(2)O emissions were signifi cantly greater from oil palm plantations than from reference forests,as *** is the fi rst study to report the eff ect of oil palm plantations on N_(2)O emissions by synthesizing previously published *** quantify the size of this eff ect,additional studies with frequent and long-term monitoring data are needed.

Dear Editor,We read with great interest the article by Tan et ***“Accelerated fracture healing by osteogenic Ti45Nb implants through the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway”[1].This research thoroughly examines the bone-forming capabilities of the Ti45Nb *** in vitro studies revealed that the Ti45Nb alloy enhances the osteogenic differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells more effectively than Ti6Al4V alloy controls,showing no noticeable cytotoxic effects.

A new complex plant for carbonization and composting of municipal wastes

A new complex plant for carbonization and composting of municipal wastes proposed for Gero City is introduced. The separated combustible waste and non-separated combustible waste are carbonized in two fluidized carbonization furnaces in the plant, and the coke produced is used in steelworks. The separated garbage and forest-wastes are mixed with dried septic-tank sludge to produce high quality compost for farms. This use of waste materials in the complex plant considerably lowers the amount of waste going to land-fills, and in addition, creates lower total emission of dioxins and carbon dioxide into the environment.
