Inflammatory stimuli,such as a microbes or lipopolysaccharides,induce a rapid release of neutrophils from the bone marrow and promote neutrophil migration into inflamed sites to promote host ***,an excess accumulation and retention of neutrophils in inflamed tissue can cause severe tissue injuries in the later stages of *** studies have reported that both CXCL12 levels in injured lungs and its receptor,CXCR4,on accumulated neutrophils in injured lungs,increased;furthermore,these studies showed that the CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling pathway participated in neutrophil accumulation in the later stages of lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced lung ***,the mechanisms underlying this increase in surface CXCR4 expression in neutrophils remain *** this study,we found that surface CXCR4 expression increased in extravascular,but not intravascular,neutrophils in the lungs of LPS-induced lung injury model ***,ex vivo studies revealed that CXCL12 acted not only as a chemoattractant,but also as a suppressor of cell death for the lung neutrophils expressing ***,one of the native ligands for L-selectin,induced the increase of surface CXCR4 expression on isolated circulating neutrophils,suggesting that the activation of L-selectin may be involved in the increase in surface *** findings show that surface CXCR4 levels on neutrophils increase after extravasation into injured lungs,possibly through the activation of *** CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling pathway plays an important role in the modulation of neutrophil activity during acute lung injury,not only by promoting chemotaxis but also by suppressing cell death.

＜正＞ It is necessary to consider variations of circuit element values for a power electronic converter design to satisfy a given specification. This analysis is so-called tolerance or worst-case analysis. The analysis is a sort of nonlinear minimum and maximum （min/max） problem with respect to circuit parameters. However its computation cost is large and practically the problem is converted to a simpler and easier one with various techniques. This paper proposes an approximate method which finds a quasi-min/max solution by applying the Genetic Algorithm （GA）. The GA models an evolution process of life forms for an engineering use and it is mainly applied to an optimization problem to utilize its selection process. This paper proposes the GA method which is based on the island model and suitable for the parallel tolerance analysis to find quasi-optimal solutions. Output voltage variations, for example, of a Cuk converter for element parameter variations are analyzed.

Surgical strategy in case with co-existence of malignant oligodendroglioma and arteriovenous malformation: A case report

A brain tumor associated with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is very rare. A 42-year-old female presented with two separate lesions in her right frontal lobe on MRI. An angiogram diagnosed one of the lesions as an AVM. The second lesion appeared to be a tumor. Tumor removal was difficult due to bleeding from the nearby AVM, necessitating removal of the AVM and allowing complete excision of the tumor. Histopathological analysis revealed the tumor was an anaplastic oligodendroglioma. There was no recurrence of the tumor 5 year after completion of therapy. We discuss the operative strategy in case of synchronous diseases and provide a review of the literature.

Estimation of Three-Dimensional Volumetric Errors of Numerically Controlled Machine Tools by a Tracking Interferometer

This paper presents the estimation of three-dimensional volumetric errors of a machining center by using a tracking interferometer. A tracking interferometer is a laser interferometer with the mechanism to steer the laser direction to follow a target retroreflector. Based on the triangulation principle, the three-dimensional position of the target can be estimated from measured laser displacements. Its capability to measure three-dimensional positioning errors for arbitrary trajectories is important for the indirect measurement of the machine＇s kinematic model. This paper presents experimental investigation of the estimation accuracy of the multilateration-based measurement by a tracking interferometer. A tracking interferometer developed by a part of the authors is used in experiments. In the present experiment, the measured volume of target positions was 100 mm × 100 mm × 100 mm. The estimation accuracy of targets within this volume was not sufficiently high compared to the positioning error of the measured machine tool. The results of the experiment and simulation show that the estimation uncertainty is dependent on tracking interferometer locations relative to target locations. Error sensitivity analysis shows that wider distribution of tracker positions in XY improves the estimation accuracy.
