The size distribution of a muck pile depends not on only the blasting standard but also on the mechanical properties,joint system,and crack density of the rock mass. As,the cracks in the rock masses are especially heavily developed at the limestone quar- ries in Japan,they,along with the joints,have a large impact on the effects of blasting, such as the size of the muck ***,if the joint system and/or crack density in a rock mass can be determined and quantitatively evaluated,the blasting operation can be conducted more effectively,efficiently and ***,guidelines for designing ap- propriate blasting standards based on the rock mass conditions have not yet been scien- tifically ***,blasting tests were conducted on different mines and faces, under different geological conditions and blasting standards,in order to determine the im- pacts of each factor on the effects of *** the results of a series of blast- ing tests and described the impacts of geological conditions on the size of the muck pile produced by blast.

A 84-year-old man with a surgical history of subtotal gastrectomy for gastric cancer was transferred to our department because of a disorder of consciousness. Septic shock due to obstructive suppurative cholangitis secondary to choledocholithiasis was diagnosed. Anemia was also present,and upper gastrointestinal tract endoscopy revealed blood emerging from the Papilla of *** cause of the anemia was identified as *** showed a small aneurysm over the artery on segment 3(A3) .The cause of the haemobilia was suspected to be the bleeding into the biliary tree from this *** the patient's general condition was poor,minimally invasive therapy was *** arterial embolization(TAE) was selected ***,lateral sectionectomy was performed in order to remove the aneurysm on A3. No surgical complication occurred and,after surgery,no haemobilia was *** conclusion,a twostage treatment,namely,surgery following TAE,is recommended for patients in a physically poor condition who have haemobilia due to intrahepatic aneurysm.

Ordinary electrolytic polymerization has involved plastic-type polymer solutions. Rubber, especially natural rubber, is one such polymer solution. Rubber has not been focused on until recently due to the fact that electrolytic polymerization has only a very small effect on rubber. However, when we focus on the C=C bonds of natural rubber, the same electrolytic polymerization is applicable to be enlarged on the natural rubber if a magnetic field and a filler are added. With the application of a magnetic field and a magnetic responsive fluid such as magnetic compound fluid (MCF), the effect of electrolytic polymerization on NR-latex such as plastic-type polymer solutions is enhanced, and the thickness of the vulcanized MCF rubber grows in a short time. The present new method of vulcanization of MCF rubber is effective enough that it is widely used in haptic sensors in various engineering applications. In the present report, as mechanical approach for the sensing, by measuring the temperature under electrolytic polymerization, by investigating the electric and dynamic characteristics, and by observing the magnified appearance of the MCF rubber, we clarified the extrinsic effects of many experimental conditions, including magnetic field strength, applied voltage, the electrodes gap, mass concentration, and the ingredients of the MCF. This report is Part 1, to be followed by another sequential report, Part 2, in which other intrinsic effects on the characteristics are dealt with. The experimental conditions used and the results obtained in the present report provide valuable data that will be useful in the making of MCF rubber.

d-Camphor and their derivatives have been widely used as chiral auxiliaries and synthons for organic synthesis, and our attempts are focused onto the new functionalization of these skeletons through the generation of oxidized variants of thiones and selones through in situ generation of novel oxidized variants of bornane-2-thiones and selones. In this paper, a novel generation and chemical conversion of these reactive intermediates are presented.

Treatment of 1,2-C6H4（SiH3）（SiH3）（1） or 1,2-C6H4（SiMe2H）（SiH3）（2） with Pd（dcpe）（PEt3）2 （dcpe？=？Cy2PCH2CH2PCy2） in the ratio of 1∶1 affords two cis- bis（silyl） palladium（II） complexes {1,2-C6H4（SiH2）（SiH2）}PdII（dcpe）（3） and {1,2- C6H4（SiMe2）（SiH2）}PdII（dcpe）（4） with good thermal stability respectively. To the best of our knowledge, only ten silyl palladium complexes prepared from these two chelating hydrosilane ligands are presented in the Cambridge Structural Database. The structures of complexes 3 and 4 are unambiguously determined by single crystal X-ray analysis and multinuclear NMR spectroscopic studies.

Effect of Signal Filtering on Image Quality of Projection-Based Magnetic Particle Imaging

Purpose: Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) allows for imaging of the spatial distribution of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) in positive contrast, with high sensitivity, high spatial resolution, and high imaging speed. It is necessary to increase the signal-to-noise ratio to enhance the reliability of MPI. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of signal filtering on the image quality and quantitativity in projection-based MPI using phantoms. Materials and Methods: We fabricated two kinds of phantom (cylindrical tube phantom with a diameter of 6 mm and A-shaped phantom) and evaluated the effect of signal filtering in terms of root-mean-square (RMS) granularity and the correlation coefficient between iron concentrations of MNPs and average MPI values for four filter modes (THRU, BPF, BEF, and LPF). In the THRU mode, the signal input was output without passing through the filter. In the BPF mode, only the third-harmonic signal was passed using a band-pass filter (central frequency: 1200 Hz, band width: 1/3 octave). In the BEF mode, the first-harmonic signal was eliminated using a band-elimination filter (central frequency: 400 Hz, band width: 1/3 octave). In the LPF mode, only the signal with a frequency less than the third-harmonic frequency was passed using a low-pass filter (cut-off frequency: 1200 Hz, -24 ± 2 dB/octave). The RMS granularity was obtained by calculating standard deviations of the pixel values in the MPI image without MNPs, whereas average MPI values were obtained by drawing a circular region of interest with a diameter of 6 mm on the MPI image of the cylindrical tube phantom. Results: When using the filtered back-projection (FBP) method with a ramp filter for image reconstruction, the RMS granularity and correlation coefficient decreased in the order of THRU, BPF, BEF, and LPF. The purpose of this study was to present a lock-in-amplifier model for analyzing the behavior of signal harmonics in magnetic particle imaging (MPI) and some simulation results based on this model. In the lock-in-amplifier model, the signal induced by magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) in a receiving coil was multiplied with a reference signal, and was then fed through a low-pass filter to extract the DC component of the signal (output signal). The MPI signal was defined as the mean of the absolute value of the output signal. The magnetization and particle size distribution of MNPs were assumed to obey the Langevin theory of paramagnetism and a log-normal distribution, respectively, and the strength of the selection magnetic field (SMF) in MPI was assumed to be given by the product of the gradient strength of the SMF and the distance from the field-free region (x). In addition, Gaussian noise was added to the signal induced by MNPs using normally-distributed random numbers. The relationships between the MPI signal and x were calculated for the odd- and even-numbered harmonics and were investigated for various time constants of the low-pass filter used in the lock-in amplifier and particle sizes and their distributions of MNPs. We found that the behavior of the MPI signal largely depended on the time constant of the low-pass filter and the particle size of MNPs. This lock-in-amplifier model will be useful for better understanding, optimizing, and developing MPI, and for designing MNPs appropriate for MPI.

Significance of functional hepatic resection rate calculated using 3D CT/^(99m)Tc-galactosyl human serum albumin singlephoton emission computed tomography fusion imaging

AIM: To evaluate the usefulness of the functional hepatic resection rate (FHRR) calculated using 3D computed tomography (CT)/99mTc-galactosyl-human serum albumin (GSA) single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) fusion imaging for surgical decision ***: We enrolled 57 patients who underwent bi- or trisectionectomy at our institution between October 2013 and March 2015. Of these, 26 patients presented with hepatocellular carcinoma, 12 with hilar cholangiocarcinoma, six with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, four with liver metastasis, and nine with other diseases. All patients preoperatively underwent three-phase dynamic multidetector CT and 99mTc-GSA scintigraphy. We compared the parenchymal hepatic resection rate (PHRR) with the FHRR, which was defined as the resection volume counts per total liver volume counts on 3D CT/99mTc-GSA SPECT fusion ***: In total, 50 patients underwent bisectionectomy and seven underwent trisectionectomy. Biliary reconstruction was performed in 15 patients, including hepatopancreatoduodenectomy in two. FHRR and PHRR were 38.6 ± 19.9 and 44.5 ± 16.0, respectively; FHRR was strongly correlated with PHRR. The regression coefficient for FHRR on PHRR was 1.16 (P 1000 mL, and/or macroscopic vascular invasion was significantly smaller than that for patients without these factors (0.73 ± 0.19 vs 0.82 ± 0.18, P < 0.05). Postoperative hyperbilirubinemia was observed in six patients. Major morbidities (Clavien-Dindo grade ≥ 3) occurred in 17 patients (29.8%).
