Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practice of Patient Teaching among Nurses in Primary Health Care, United Arab Emirates

Patient education is defined as the process of influencing a patient’s behavior and helping them make the necessary changes to their knowledge, attitudes, and skills to maintain or improve their health. It is a crucial part of patient care, and the EHS ambulatory care healthcare system is giving patient education more importance. many experts claim that nurses still have difficulties providing patient education because of a range of factors, which include a lack of expertise and numerous other obstacles. moreover, there isn’t any published research that studies nurses’ attitudes, knowledge, and patient-teaching practices in primary healthcare in the United Arab Emirates. The research project aims to investigate the knowledge, attitude, and practice of patient teaching among nurses in primary health care centers to better understand how nurse knowledge and attitudes may affect nurse-performed patient education. The target population is nurses working in primary healthcare centers in Sharjah, Ajman, Dubai, Ras Al-Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain. However, the sample size is 300 using a random cluster sampling technique. The participants were encouraged to take part in the study (KAPPTNQ) through an online survey. The study concludes that the majority of nurses are knowledgeable about patient education;a large proportion of the nurses have a positive attitude toward patient education;and the majority of the nurses have a positive practice of patient education. However, the major challenges nurses encounter with patients’ health teaching include language barriers, inadequate communication, ineffective time management, and cultural impacts on patient health education. .

Preparation and characterization of (CeO2)x-(Fe2O3)1-x nanocomposites:reduction kinetics and hydrogen storage

A series of nanosized CeO2-Fe2O3 mixed-oxide nanocomposites with different Ce4+/Fe3+molar ratios were successfully prepared by a co-precipitation *** surface area increased with Fe2O3 content increasing up to 60 wt%in the ***,with further increase in Fe2O3 content,the surface area began to *** reduction processes of the CeO2-Fe2O3 nanocomposites were studied in a hydrogen atmosphere at 300-600℃.The reduction rates increased by increasing both the temperature and Fe2O3 content in the *** microstructure of the reduced composites at 500℃illustrated the presence of a considerable number of macro-and *** activation energy values were calculated which were in the range of 3.56-5.37 kJ mol-1 at the initial stages(up to 35%reduction)and 5.21-10.2 kJ·mol-1 at the final stages(up to 80%reduction)of *** rate-controlling mechanisms in both the initial and final reduction stages were determined,and the initial reaction stage was controlled by combined gaseous diffusion and interfacial chemical reaction mechanisms for all the composites except for pure CeO2,which was controlled by a chemical reaction *** final reaction stage was controlled by a gaseous diffusion mechanism for some composites,while for the others it was controlled by combined gaseous diffusion and interfacial chemical reaction *** hydrogen sorption properties of the nanocomposites were studied by pressure composition isotherms using a volumetric *** storage in the nanocomposites increased by increasing the temperature because of the formation of oxygen vacancies which enhance atomic H adsorption and function as strong adsorption sites forming more metal hydride covalent bonds.

Investigate Stressors Levels and Identify Coping Strategies of Frontline Nurses during the COVID-19 in Sharjah Primary Health Center—A Quantitative Research Study

During the COVID-19 Epidemic, nurses are usually informed of emotional exhaustion, increased workloads, and uncertainty, leading to burnout. Consequently, psychological health initiatives are essential to support nurses during a pandemic. This project aims to investigate the stress levels and identify the Coping Strategies of Nurses during the COVID-19 Epidemic in Sharjah Primary Health Center, as they are always at the front line of this epidemic. The nature of their work, they are mainly infected and spread the virus amongst colleagues and family. The target population is nurses working in Sharjah primary health centers, and the number sample is 230. The researcher sent the survey through the link. And in this research, we used two instruments which include the Expanded Nursing Stress Scale and The Coping Strategies Scale (CSS). This study shows that the most stressful factor is related to workload, especially related to unpredictable staffing and scheduling. On the other hand, the most coping strategies were those that were associated with meaning-focused Coping Strategies, especially believing that valuable lessons can learn from undesirable experiences.

Evaluation of copper removal efficiency using water treatment sludge

Large quantities of sludge are produced during water treatment processes. Recently, sludge has been treated as waste and disposed of in landfills, which increases the environmental burdens and the operational cost. Therefore, sludge reuse has become a significant environmental issue. In this study, adsorption of copper ions (Cu^2+) onto calcined sludge was investigated under various operational conditions (with varying temperature, Cu^2+ initial concentration, pH, and sludge dosage). The prepared sludge material was characterized with transmission electron microscopy (TEm), X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area. The sorption capacity of sludge was directly proportional to the initial Cu^2+ concentration and inversely proportional to the sludge dosage. The optimum operational pH and solution temperature were 6.6 and 80℃, respectively. The experimental results followed a Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-first-order adsorption kinetics. Thermodynamic parameters such as activation energy, change in free energy, enthalpy, and entropy were calculated. Thermodynamic analyses indicated that the sorption of copper ions onto the calcined sludge was driven by a physical adsorption process. The prepared sludge was proven to be an excellent adsorbent material for the removal of Cu^2+ from an aqueous solution under optimum conditions.

Optical properties and radiative rates of Nd^(3+) doped zinc-sodium phosphate glasses

Preparation using melt quenching technique and optical characterizations of Nd^(3+) doped Zn-Na phosphate glasses are presented. The structure of the present glasses was studied using X-ray diffraction and FT-IR spectroscopy. UV-vis spectra of the present glasses were analyzed at different concentrations of Nd_2 O_3. The effect of neodymium concentration on the density and energy band gap was investigated. The density of the present glasses slightly increases with the increasing of Nd_2 O_3. A small variation of energy band gap with the increasing of neodymium content is observed as well, while E_g values decrease with the increase of Nd_2 O_3 content. The E_g values lie between 4.36 and 4.69 eV. Based on the measured optical spectra, Judd-Ofelt theory was used to determine the optical parameters such as line strengths, optical intensity parameters(Ω_t), transition probabilities, and transition lifetimes. Hypersensitive transitions were identified in the absorption spectrum, the greatest line strengths are recorded at the transitions^2 G_(7/2)+ ~4 G_(5/2), ~4 S_(3/2) + ~4 F_(7/2) and ~4 D_(1/2) + ~4 D_(3/2)+ ~4 D_(5/2) + ~2 I_(11/2) with wavelengths of 580, 475 and 355 nm,respectively. Lifetimes of the important ~4 F_(3/2) laser-level were determined; which show decreasing trend with the increasing of Nd_2 O_3 content and are found to be between 0.838 and 1.595 ms. The uncertainty of the present results was estimated. The RmS deviations were determined, which show lower values than those in the literature.

The Vibrational motion of a Dynamical System Using Homotopy Perturbation Technique

This paper outlines the vibrational motion of a nonlinear system with a spring of linear stiffness. Homotopy perturbation technique (HPT) is used to obtain the asymptotic solution of the governing equation of motion. The numerical solution of this equation is obtained using the fourth order Runge-Kutta method (RKm). The comparison between both solutions reveals high consistency between them which confirms that, the accuracy of the obtained solution using aforementioned perturbation technique. The time history of the attained solution is represented through some plots to reveal the good effect of the different parameters of the considered system on the motion at any instant. The conditions of the stability of the attained solution are presented and discussed.

Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles Protect against Oxaliplatin Induced Testicular Damage: Biochemical, Histological, Immunohistochemical, and Genotoxic Study

Oxaliplatin is a chemotherapeutic drug used for colorectal cancer treatment. The testicular toxic effect is one of its recorded toxicities which resulted in a few studies. Oxidative stress could be a direct cause of this testicular toxicity. Cerium oxide nanoparticles (CONPs) are optimistic antioxidants for applications in medicine. The aim of the work is to study the protective effect of CONPs on testicular toxicity induced by oxaliplatin in rats. Forty adult male albino rats were divided into 4 groups: Control group, CONPs group (60 mg/kg, 5 times/week), Oxaliplatin group (4 mg/kg, twice/week), and Oxaliplatin & CONPs group, for 4 weeks. Seventy-two hours after the last administration, blood samples were taken for hormonal levels and testes were used for both histopathology and immunohistochemical microscopic examination. Sperm smears were also performed and their results were statistically analyzed to detect any sperm abnormalities. Oxaliplatin increased mDA levels. SOD and GPx activity was decreased. GSH levels were decreased. Also, it decreased the sperm cell count and serum testosterone, and anti-müllerian hormon. In the testicular sections, significant histopathology changes were seen and immunohistochemical examination confirmed these results. Upon supplementation of CONPs with oxaliplatin decreased mDA levels. SOD and GPx activity was increased, and GSH did not change. In testicular sections, normal morphology was seen. Also, there was an increase in the sperm cell count and serum testosterone anti-müllerian with significant improvement of testicular architecture, and immunohistochemical examination confirmed these results. The utilization of CONPs produced significant protection against all of the above-mentioned changes.

利用葫芦巴种子提取物作为绿色腐蚀抑制剂,采用失重法和电化学方法研究锌在2.0 mol/L硫酸和2.0 mol/L盐酸中的腐蚀行为。扫描电子显微镜结果表明添加抑制剂后,锌的表面腐蚀得到减缓。光电子能谱分析表明腐蚀产物为Zn O,验证了抑制剂的吸收机理。当添加200 m L/L葫芦巴提取物时,在硫酸溶液中腐蚀1 h和盐酸溶液中腐蚀0.5 h可得到最大抑制率,分别为90.7%和66.6%。在HCl溶液中添加I-离子时,由于协同作用可大幅度提高葫芦巴种子提取物对锌腐蚀的抑制率。动电位极化和EIS分析表明葫芦巴种子提取物对锌在盐酸中的腐蚀有抑制作用。添加葫芦巴种子提取物可降低腐蚀电流,增加电荷转移电阻。
