Observing quantum coherence from photons scattered in free-space

Quantum channels in free-space,an essential prerequisite for fundamental tests of quantum mechanics and quantum technologies in open space,have so far been based on direct line-of-sight because the predominant approaches for photon-encoding,including polarization and spatial modes,are not compatible with randomly scattered *** we demonstrate a novel approach to transfer and recover quantum coherence from scattered,non-line-of-sight photons analyzed in a multimode and imaging interferometer for time-bins,combined with photon detection based on a 8×8 *** observed time-bin visibility for scattered photons remained at a high 95%over a wide scattering angle range of−45^(0) to+45^(0),while the individual pixels in the detector array resolve or track an image in its field of view of ca.0.5°.Using our method,we demonstrate the viability of two novel ***,using scattered photons as an indirect channel for quantum communication thereby enabling non-line-of-sight quantum communication with background suppression,and secondly,using the combined arrival time and quantum coherence to enhance the contrast of low-light imaging and laser ranging under high background *** believe our method will instigate new lines for research and development on applying photon coherence from scattered signals to quantum sensing,imaging,and communication in free-space environments.

Osmotic distillation(OD) was found to be a coupled process in membrane absorption(MA) for the treatment of high strength ammonia wastewater. As a result, ammonia could not be concentrated in absorption solution(AS) as expected. The inhibition of the coupled OD in MA process was investigated as well as various factors affecting the inhibition. The results indicated that the coupled OD can be effectively inhibited by heating concentrated solution and cooling dilute solution. It was also found that experimental minimum inhibition temperature difference(MITD) between concentrated and dilute solutions was different when using polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) and polypropylene(PP) membranes respectively, which could be ascribed to material properties, such as OD and membrane distillation(MD) coefficients of the membranes. Experimental MITDs were found to be higher than theoretical MITDs which were calculated using a simplified method.

The debris produced in vibration cavitation tests of three kinds of carbon steel were *** geometric features were analyzed quantitatively and observed respectively by a profilometer and a scanning electronic microscope(SEM) with reference to the investigation of the cavitation damaged surface by SEM and X-ray diffraction(XRD) .It was found that among the debris produced in all cavitation erosion stages,more than 45%were platelets because of the occurrence of dislocation and cleavage fracture,and only less than 25%were *** number of granule was small in the first cavitation erosion stage and increased rapidly to the number comparable with that of platelets in the next stage,and then reduced in the third *** sphericity values of the debris varied in accordance with the stages of cavitation damage,which were 0.3―0.4 in the incubation stage,0.5―0.7 in the acceleration stage and not less than 0.5 in the maximum rate stage,although a slight decrease occurred in the third stage.

Surface defects with abundant localized electrons on bismuth oxyhalide catalysts are proved to have the capability to capture and activate CO_(2).However,bismuth oxyhalide materials are susceptible to photocorrosion,making the surface defects easily deactivated and therefore losing their function as active *** of deactivation-resistant surface defects on catalyst is essential for stable CO_(2)photoreduction,but is a universal *** this work,the Bi_(5)O_(7)I nanotubes with surface tensile strain are synthesized,which are favorable for the visible light-induced dynamic I defects *** CO_(2)molecules absorbed on I defects are constantly reduced by the incoming photogenerated electrons from I-deficient Bi_(5)O_(7)I nanotubes and the successive protonation of CO_(2)molecules is thus highly promoted,realizing the selective CO_(2)conversion process via the route of CO_(2)-COOH^(-)-*** efficient and stable photoreduction of CO_(2)into CO with 100%selectivity can be achieved even under visible light(>420 nm)irradiation benefited from the dynamic I defects as active *** results presented herein demonstrate the unique action mechanism of light-induced dynamic defects during CO_(2)photoreduction process and provide a new strategy into rational design of deactivation-resistant catalysts for selective CO_(2)photoreduction.

Electrocatalytic conversion of waste nitrogen oxide(NO_(x))into value-added nitrogenous chemicals,especially amino acid,is an emerging strategy to alleviate NO_(x)***,this process suffers from the coexistence of multiple competitive reactions leading to complex product distribution and low efficiency,and thus the rational design and modulation of efficient catalysts remains a formidable ***,well-designed Co nanoparticles encapsulated in hollow carbon nanofiber(CoHCNF)were constructed to promote the amino acid electrosynthesis via dealing waste NO_(x)coupling with biomass-derived keto *** to the rapid reactant diffusion,electron transport and efficient contact with abundant accessible Co catalytic sites stemmed from the unique hollow nanotubular structure,Co-HCNF manifested impressive glycine synthesis performance in one-pot adopting NO as the nitrogen source with Faradaic efficiency(FE)of 41.7%and a corresponding yield rate of 222.3μmol h^(-1)as well as 120 h robust ***,it also demonstrates an excellent performance with the FE of 42.8%for NO_(3)~-solution as the nitrogen ***,this strategy displays a broad universality for the synthesis of other amino *** work not only highlights the importance of hollow-structuring electrocatalyst towards upgrading wasted NO_(x)species into amino acids,but also promotes the further development of electrosynthetic systems for high-valued N-containing organic chemicals.

Effect of roughness and wettability of silicon wafer in cavitation erosion

Material damage of silicon wafer with different roughness and wettability was investigated by using the self-made vibration cavitation apparatus in de-ionized water. Various roughness and wettability of sili- con wafer were achieved by changing their morphology and depositing Au, diamond-like carbon films (DLC films) on them. Surface morphology was observed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a surface profilometer, and wettability was characterized by the contact angle measurement. The cavitation erosion results showed that many tiny pits and cracks appeared on the wafer surface as a result of brittle fractures; the number and size of the pits and cracks increased with experiment time, which made material flake away finally; cavitation occurred more easily on the silicon wafer surface with the augment of roughness or contact angle by changing surface morphology or depositing Au, DLC thin film on it, which consequently aggravated cavitation damage.

Supply Chain Finance(SCF)refers to the financial service in which banks rely on core enterprises to manage the capital flow and logistics of upstream and downstream *** adopts a self-testing and closed-loop credit model to control funds and *** key factor in a successful SCF service is the deployment of SCF businessoriented information systems that allow businesses to form partnerships efficiently and expedite cash flows throughout the supply *** Technology(BCT),featuring decentralization,tamper-proofing,traceability,which is usually paired with the Internet of Things(IoT)in real-world contexts,has been widely adopted in the field of finance and is perfectly positioned to facilitate innovative collaborations among participants in supply chain *** this paper,we propose a BCT and IoT-based information management framework(named BC4Regu),which works as the regulatory to improve the information transparency in the business process of *** BC4Regu,the operation cost of the whole supply chain can be significantly reduced through the coordination and integration of capital flow,information flow,logistics and trade flow in the supply *** contributions in this paper include:(1)proposing a novel information management framework which leverages Blockchain and IoT to solve the problem of information asymmetry in the trade of SCF;(2)proposing the technical design of BC4Regu,including the Blockchain infrastructure,distributed ledger-based integrated data flow service,and reshaped SCF process;and(3)applying BC4Regu to a group of scenarios and conducting theoretical analysis by introducing the principal-agent model to validate the BC4Regu.
