Analysis of Differences in Inductance of Ni-Cu-Zn Ferrite Chip Inductors during the Plating Process

Although plating is a necessary process for SMT components, it alters the magnetic characteristics and inductance level of Ni-Cu-Zn ferrite components. The results of this work show that the following three factors in plating affect these components, and the effects are different for Ni- and Sn-plating：（1） Plating layers exert stresses and react with the residual stress of components to change the inductance level, and the effect of the tin layer is greater than that of the nickel one; （2） The plating current induces a magnetic field inside the components directly and indirectly, and this remains as remanence inside the components and reduces the inductance level, and the effect level of Ni-plating is greater than that of Sn-plating; （3） The plating solution corrodes the interface of the termination and ferrite core of the components to release the residual stress, and causes an increase in inductance, and the effect of Sn-plating is greater than that of Ni-plating. In addition, the inductance level is the result of the net effect of these three factors, and if the sintering temperature is increased to change in the type of residual stress, the net effect will be changed.

BACKGROUND Vibrio pararhaemolyticus(***),a pathogen that commonly causes gastroenteritis,could potentially lead to a pandemic in *** pathogenesis and molecular mechanisms vary,and the severity of illness can be diverse,ranging from mild gastroenteritis,requiring only supportive care,to *** SUMMARY We outline a case of a 71-year-old female who experienced an acute onset of severe abdominal tenderness after two days of vomiting and diarrhea prior to her emergency department visit.A small bowel perforation was diagnosed using computed *** ascites cultured revealed infection due to *** CONCLUSION Our case is the first reported case of ***-induced gastroenteritis resulting in small bowel perforation.

A Review of Predictive and Contrastive Self-supervised Learning for Medical Images

Over the last decade, supervised deep learning on manually annotated big data has been progressing significantly on computer vision tasks. But, the application of deep learning in medical image analysis is limited by the scarcity of high-quality annotated medical imaging data. An emerging solution is self-supervised learning (SSL), among which contrastive SSL is the most successful approach to rivalling or outperforming supervised learning. This review investigates several state-of-the-art contrastive SSL algorithms originally on natural images as well as their adaptations for medical images, and concludes by discussing recent advances, current limitations, and future directions in applying contrastive SSL in the medical domain.

Efficacy and Safety of Herbal Medicine Yun-Cai Tea in the Treatment of Hyperlipidemia:A Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial

Objective： Animal studies have demonstrated a lipid-modulating effect of yun-cai tea. However, little is known about the lipid-lowering effect in *** aim of this study was to evaluate the lipid lowering effects and safety of yun-cai tea in patients with elevated lipid levels in a human clinical trial. Methods： This was a 12-week, randomly assigned, parallel-group, double-blind, and placebo-controlled pilot clinical study. Sixty primary hyperlipidemia patients were included and randomly assigned to the yun-cai tea group （30 patients） and the placebo group （30 patients）, for 8 weeks of treatment and 4 weeks of follow-up. The primary endpoint was changes in plasma low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol （LDL-C） at 8 weeks. The secondary endpoints included total cholesterol （TC） and triglycerides （TG）. Results： Our results revealed no statistically significant differences in LDL-C and TC between the two groups. Despite the lack of a statistically significant difference in the level of TG between the two groups, a declining trend was noted. A significant reduction of TG was observed in the yun-cai tea group at week 8, compared to baseline （P=0.048）. The incidence of stomach discomfort, gastroesophageal reflux, diarrhea, and constipation was slightly higher in the yun-cai tea group. No other significant adverse events were found. Conclusions： It is unlikely that yun-cai tea used had a blood lipid reduction effect. Further larger scale clinical trials with a longer duration and larger dose are necessary.

Effect of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation through acupoints of Pucan (BL 61) and Shenmai (BL 62) on intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma： a randomized controlled trial

OBJECTIVE： To investigate the effects of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation （TENS） through acupoints on the intraocular pressure （lOP） in patients with glaucoma. METHODS： A single-blinded, randomized experimental design study was conducted. Patients from the North of Taipei Ophthalmology outpatient department diagnosed with intraocular hypertension were selected and were further enrolled if they met the research subject criteria. The patients who met all criteria, and who met no exclusion criteria became the participants. Participants were randomly assigned into the treated group, wherein the TENS electrodes （Qing Ming Medical Device Co., Ltd., New Taipei City, China） were applied with direct current （DC） on the acupoints Pucan （BL 61） and Shenmai （BL 62） for 20 min. The control group received no TENS electrode treatments. Measurements of lOP were taken four times using a pneumotonometer （Clinico Co., Ltd., New Taipei City, China）, before, immediately after, 30 min after, and 60 min after TENS electrode treatments. RESULTS： Eighty-two participants completed the experiment, lOP decreased more in the group treated with DC （P 〈 0.01） than in the control *** lOPs were not affected by the age of the patients and their usage of medications. CONCLUSION： TENS of acupoints of Pucan （BL 61） and Shenmai （BL 62） could significantly reduce the lOP in patients with glaucoma.

Polar-coded forward error correction for MLC NAND flash memory

With the ever-growing storage density, high-speed, and low-cost data access, flash memory has inevitably become popular. Multi-level cell(MLC) NAND flash memory, which can well balance the data density and memory stability, has occupied the largest market share of flash memory. With the aggressive memory scaling, however, the reliability decays sharply owing to multiple interferences. Therefore, the control system should be embedded with a suitable error correction code(ECC) to guarantee the data integrity and accuracy. We proposed the pre-check scheme which is a multi-strategy polar code scheme to strike a balance between reasonable frame error rate(FER) and decoding latency. Three decoders namely binaryinput, quantized-soft, and pure-soft decoders are embedded in this scheme. Since the calculation of soft loglikelihood ratio(LLR) inputs needs multiple sensing operations and optional quantization boundaries, a 2-bit quantized hard-decision decoder is proposed to outperform the hard-decoded LDPC bit-flipping decoder with fewer sensing operations. We notice that polar codes have much lower computational complexity compared with LDPC codes. The stepwise maximum mutual information(SMMI) scheme is also proposed to obtain overlapped boundaries without exhausting search. The mapping scheme using Gray code is employed and proved to achieve better raw error performance compared with other alternatives. Hardware architectures are also given in this paper.

In recent years, studies on evaluation of the therapeutic and toxic activity of herbal medicinal products became available and popular. The advances in modern biotechnology have led to discovery of many new active constituents. However, it is a constant challenge to establish the pharmacological basis for efficacy and safety of herbal medicinal products. A better understanding of the effects and bioavailability of phytopharmaceuticals can help in discovering suitable and rational therapies. In this review, we present the bioavailability studies in immune system that has been conducted for some of the more important or widely used phytopharmaceuticals. Furthermore, various new drug targets worthy of using for drug development in immunomodulating herbal medicine area and their regulatory mechanisms are also discussed. Adverse effects, drug interactions, and contraindications are also discussed which show that caution should be exercised when combining phytopharmaceuticals with chemically derived pharmaceutical components. The Immune Response Induced by Hepatitis B Virus Principal Antigens

Hepatitis B virus （HBV） infection occurs primarily in hepatocytes in the liver with release of infectious virions and non-infectious empty surface antigen particles into the bloodstream. HBV replication is non-cytopathic. Transient infections run a course of several months, and chronic infections are often life-long. Chronic infections can lead to liver failure with cirrhosis and hepatocellniar carcinoma. It is generally accepted that neutralizing anti-HBs antibodies plays a key role in recovery from HBV infection by containing the spread of infection in the infected host and facilitating the removal and destruction of viral particles. However, the immune response initiated by the T-cell response to viral antigens is also important for viral clearance and disease pathogenesis in HBV infection. The three structural forms of the viral proteins, the HBsAg, the particulate HBcAg, and the nonparticulate HBeAg, may preferentially elicit different Th cell subsets. The different IgG subclass profiles of anti-HBs, anti-HBc, and anti-HBe in different HBV infection status were revealed. Moreover, the different IgG subclass profiles in chronic carriers did not change with different ALT and AST levels and may reflect the difference between stimulating antigens, immune response, and the stages of viral disease and provide the basis for the use of vaccines and prophylactic treatments for individuals at high risk of human HBV infection. This review elucidates the detailed understanding of the immune responses induced during transient and persistent infection, and the development of immunotherapy and immunodiagnosis in patients with HBV infection, and possible means of reducing the liver damage.
