Establishment and evaluation of animal models of sepsis-associated encephalopathy

BACKGROUND:Sepsis-associated encephalopathy(SAE) is a critical disease caused by sepsis.In addition to high mortality,SAE can also adversely aff ect life quality and lead to significant socioeconomic costs.This review aims to explore the development of evaluation animal models of SAE,giving insight into the direction of future research in terms of its pathophysiology and therapy.METHODS:We performed a literature search from January 1,2000,to December 31,2022,in MEDLINE,PubMed,EMBASE,and Web of Science using related keywords.Two independent researchers screened all the accessible articles based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria and collected the relevant data of the studies.RESULTS:The animal models for sepsis are commonly induced through cecal ligation and puncture(CLP) or lipopolysaccharide(LPS) injection.SAE can be evaluated using nervous reflex scores and sepsis evaluation during the acute phase,or through Morris water maze(MWM),openfield test,fear condition(FC) test,inhibitory avoidance,and other tests during the late phase.CONCLUSION:CLP and LPS injection are the most common methods for establishing SAE animal models.Nervous reflexs cores,MWM,FC test,and inhibitory avoidance are widely used in SAE model analysis.Future research should focus on establishing a standardized system for SAE development and analysis.

Long-term nonunion of bone defects has always been a major problem in orthopedic treatment.Artificial bone graft materials such as Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)/β-tricalcium phosphate(PLGA/β-TCP)scaffolds are expected to solve this problem due to their suitable degradation rate and good osteoconductivity.However,insufficient mechanical properties,lack of osteoinductivity and infections after implanted limit its large-scale clinical application.Hence,we proposed a novel bone repair bioscaffold by adding zinc submicron particles to PLGA/β-TCP using low temperature rapid prototyping 3D printing technology.We first screened the scaffolds with 1 wt%Zn that had good biocompatibility and could stably release a safe dose of zinc ions within 16 weeks to ensure long-term non-toxicity.As designed,the scaffold had a multi-level porous structure of biomimetic cancellous bone,and the Young’s modulus(63.41±1.89 MPa)and compressive strength(2.887±0.025 MPa)of the scaffold were close to those of cancellous bone.In addition,after a series of in vitro and in vivo experiments,the scaffolds proved to have no adverse effects on the viability of BMSCs and promoted their adhesion and osteogenic differentiation,as well as exhibiting higher osteogenic and anti-inflammatory properties than PLGA/β-TCP scaffold without zinc particles.We also found that this osteogenic and anti-inflammatory effect might be related to Wnt/β-catenin,P38 MAPK and NFkB pathways.This study lay a foundation for the follow-up study of bone regeneration mechanism of Zn-containing biomaterials.We envision that this scaffold may become a new strategy for clinical treatment of bone defects.

Temporal variations in aerosol composition at Lanzhou City, Northwestern China

Although LanTAaou is one of the most heavily polluted cities in China, the composition of its air pollutants have not yet been studied in detail. The data of four months on the concentrations and compositions of ions from daily air-filter samples in the winter and spring during 2007-2008 were analyzed to investigate temporal trends and their possible causes. The results indicate that mean concentrations of almost all the aerosol components are greater in winter than in spring due to stronger emissions in winter and weaker localized dispersion. Spring dust storms are the major cause of the highest peak PM10 concentrations recorded during the study period; however, these elevated levels were transient. Ion concentrations related to coal combustion show the greatest reduction from winter to spring, while the concentrations of strong crustal components show a less-pronounced reduction. Strong cycles in the levels of particulate matter （PM） and all ions are also observed during the winter months due to meteorological conditions. Depending on the season, nine different ions accounted for 20%-50% of the PM concentration. The particle size of polluting ions was constant at times of increasing PM concentrations （particularly during winter）, whereas the particle size of crustal ions in- creased dramatically during spring dust storms. Local meteorological conditions （especially wind speed） have a strong influence on the levels of pollutants. Four dust storms were noted, including one during winter. In summary, the regional transport of desert dust from the Gobi can significantly affect air quality and the chemical composition of aerosols in Lanzhou. The dust storms can strongly increase concentration of crustal ions, which are characteristics of deserts in northwestern China. This observation is in agreement with back-trajectories, which show reduced levels of pollutant ions during dust storms. Data on nitrate：sulfate ratios indicate that stationary point sources are the main source of ions rather than mobile sources.

The incentive mechanism of federated learning has been a hot topic,but little research has been done on the compensation of privacy loss.To this end,this study uses the Local SGD federal learning framework and gives a theoretical analysis under the use of differential privacy protection.Based on the analysis,a multi‐attribute reverse auction model is proposed to be used for user selection as well as payment calculation for participation in federal learning.The model uses a mixture of economic and non‐economic attributes in making choices for users and is transformed into an optimisation equation to solve the user choice problem.In addition,a post‐auction negotiation model that uses the Rubinstein bargaining model as well as optimisation equations to describe the negotiation process and theoretically demonstrate the improvement of social welfare is proposed.In the experimental part,the authors find that their algorithm improves both the model accuracy and the F1‐score values relative to the comparison algorithms to varying degrees.

Federated learning is a widely used distributed learning approach in recent years,however,despite model training from collecting data become to gathering parameters,privacy violations may occur when publishing and sharing models.A dynamic approach is pro-posed to add Gaussian noise more effectively and apply differential privacy to federal deep learning.Concretely,it is abandoning the traditional way of equally distributing the privacy budget e and adjusting the privacy budget to accommodate gradient descent federation learning dynamically,where the parameters depend on computation derived to avoid the impact on the algorithm that hyperparameters are created manually.It also incorporates adaptive threshold cropping to control the sensitivity,and finally,moments accountant is used to counting the∈consumed on the privacy‐preserving,and learning is stopped only if the∈_(total)by clients setting is reached,this allows the privacy budget to be adequately explored for model training.The experimental results on real datasets show that the method training has almost the same effect as the model learning of non‐privacy,which is significantly better than the differential privacy method used by TensorFlow.

Study on the Safety and Prevention Technology of Coal Mining under the River in Xingyuan Coal Mine

Coal mining-induced surface subsidence poses significant ecological and infrastructural challenges, necessitating a comprehensive study to ensure safe mining practices, particularly in underwater conditions. This project aims to address the extensive impact of coal mining on the environment, infrastructure, and overall safety, focusing on the shigong River area above the working face. The study employs qualitative and quantitative analyses, along with on-site engineering measurements, to gather data on crucial parameters such as coal seam characteristics, roof rock lithology, thickness, water resistance, and structural damage degree. The research encompasses a multidisciplinary approach, involving mining, geology, hydrogeology, geophysical exploration, rock mechanics, mine surveying, and computational mathematics. The importance of effective safety measures and prevention techniques is emphasized, laying the foundation for research focused on the Xingyun coal mine. The brief concludes by highlighting the potential economic and social benefits of this project and its contribution to valuable experience for future subsea coal mining.

Optimal operation of cold–heat–electricity multi-energy collaborative system based on price demand response

In a multi-energy collaboration system, cooling, heating, electricity, and other energy components are coupled to complement each other. Through multi-energy coordination and cooperation, they can significantly improve their individual operating efficiency and overall economic benefits. Demand response, as a multi-energy supply and demand balance method, can further improve system flexibility and economy. Therefore, a multi-energy cooperative system optimization model has been proposed, which is driven by price-based demand response to determine the impact of power-demand response on the optimal operating mode of a multi-energy cooperative system. The main components of the multi-energy collaborative system have been analyzed. The multi-energy coupling characteristics have been identified based on the energy hub model. Using market elasticity as a basis, a price-based demand response model has been built. The model has been optimized to minimize daily operating cost of the multi-energy collaborative system. Using data from an actual situation, the model has been verified, and we have shown that the adoption of price-based demand response measures can significantly improve the economy of multi-energy collaborative systems.

为了探明气温与呼吸系统疾病住院人数的关系,合理实施辽宁省县域城市疾病预防预警,基于2016—2018年辽宁省北票市和西丰县两县域城市的逐日气象观测资料和呼吸系统疾病住院病例资料,分析当地呼吸系统疾病住院就诊人数的季节分布特征及其年龄分布特征。在此基础上,采用广义相加模型(Generalized Additive Model,GAM)和分布滞后非线性模型(the Distributed Lag Non-linear Model,DLNM)探究了气温对呼吸系统疾病住院人数的影响,并按性别、年龄分层建模,使用归因分值(Attributable Fraction,AF)量化了暴露在特定气温(极端低温、中度低温、中度高温、极端高温)范围内的患病风险。结果表明,两地呼吸系统疾病住院人数全年峰值出现在冬春季,患病人群以少儿和老年人群居多。北票市、西丰县人群的最适宜气温分别为26.2、22.2℃;气温对呼吸系统疾病患病的影响以低温滞后效应为主,高温存在即时效应但并不显著。北票市和西丰县分别有27.0%(95%置信区间为20.3%~32.9%)和29.0%(95%置信区间为22.1%~35.0%)的呼吸系统住院人数归因于气温,且患病风险主要以中度低温为主,北票市和西丰县患病归因于中度低温分别占25.9%(95%置信区间为19.5%~31.5%)和28.1%(95%置信区间为21.5%~33.9%)。就年龄分布而言,与成年组相比,少儿组和老年组中归因于中度低温的患病百分比均较高,此外老年组对极端低温也较敏感。就性别而言,女性比男性更容易受低温影响。辽宁省两县域城市的气温对不同人群的影响不同,气温对女性与老年居民造成的发病风险较大。

This paper presents a robot with double tracks, composed of two segments connected with a joint in mechanical structure. The robot can work like a four-tracked robot for moving on many terrains. Moving posture during robot stairs climbing is discussed, this is a typical case and is useful for designing the robot platform. Static stability analysis of the robot performance on rough terrains is complicated, due to the complexity of the terrains and posture of the robot itself. Therefore, three typical rough terrains are chosen to be analyzed in this paper, namely, the common rugged terrain, the slope terrain, and the stairs. The corresponding experiments’ results demonstrate that the robot can perform with satisfactory on the rough terrains.

A two-wheeled robot with a movable seat is proposed in this paper, which can turn with zero-radius and whose seat can move up and down, front and back. Firstly, the overall structure and the control system of the robot is introduced;secondly, a new filtering method called RC and Kalman filtering method is designed to get the posture of the robot;then, the robot’s dynamics model is established by Lagrange’s function method and locally linearized;finally, the LQR controller is developed to make the robot walk straight on the flat ground and verified in MATLAB/Simulink. Simulation results show that the dynamic model and the LQR controller are effective.
