New approach to resolve the amount of Quaternary uplift and associated denudation of the mountain ranges in the Japanese Islands

Low-temperature thermochronology is a widely used tool for revealing denudation histories of mountain ranges. Although this technique has been applied mainly to continental orogens, such as the European Alps, Himalayas, and Andes, recent technological development of low-temperature thermochronology has made it applicable to a wider variety of mountain ranges with various sizes and tectonic histories. The Japanese Islands comprise young and active island arcs, where an early stage of mountain range formation is observed. Numerous attempts have been made to constrain the uplift and denudation histories of the mountains in the Japanese Islands using geologic, geomorphologic, or geodetic methods. However, the number of thermochronometric attempts has been limited primarily due to the small amount of total denudation since the initiation of the uplift. In this review paper, we introduce the tectonic and geomorphic settings of the mountain ranges in the Japanese Islands, and discuss previous attempts to estimate uplift or denudation of the Japanese mountains using methods other than ther- mochronology. Furthermore, we discuss problems of the thermochronometric applications in revealing denudation histories of the Japanese mountains. Finally, we present a case study of the Kiso Range in central Japan and discuss the current effectiveness and applicability of low-temperature thermochronology to the Japanese mountainous areas.

基于低温热年代学特征的构造重建（或解译）与浅部地表过程模型在诠释盆-山结构与演化过程中受到越来越广泛的重视与应用．青藏高原东缘米仓山一川北前陆盆山系统楔人冲断构造模型与浅部地貌建造（非）耦合的检验校正为米仓山造山带构造变形及其动力学模型研究提供了契机．基于稳态楔入冲断构造低温热年代学模型研究表明，米仓山-川北前陆盆-山结构带盆山地貌的建造和低温热年代学（磷灰石裂变径迹和（U-Th）／He）特征具有明显的耦合性，二者统一于（盆地向）具～4°古地貌斜坡的楔入冲断构造模型．现今米仓山地区低温热年代学不具有明显的海拔高程和年龄线性关系，但当古地貌具有～4。坡度时低温热年代学与古地貌具有明显的线性相关性，揭示晚白垩世米仓山东西段具有一致（或相似）的稳态抬升剥露特征，东西段剥露速率分别为0.05mm／a和0.03mm／a．古地貌坡度与古地温梯度具有较好的相关性（R2=5％～98％），相关古地温梯度（25～35℃／km）符合米仓山稳态剥露地质结构特征．米仓山造山带楔人冲断构造模型的发育可能受控于多套滑脱层系（尤其是深部和浅部滑脱层系）和扬子板块能干性基底对造山带盆地向扩展变形过程的阻挡作用．

An Experimental Study of Carbon Dioxide Condensation in Mini Channels

In this study, the local characteristics of pressure drop and heat transfer were investigated experimentally for carbon dioxide condensation in a multi-port extruded aluminum test section, which had 10 circular channels each with 1.31 mm inner diameter. The CO2 was cooled with cooling water flow inside the copper blocks that were attached at both sides of the test section. The temperatures at the outer surface of the test section were measured with 24 K-type thermocouples embedded in the upper and lower surfaces along the length. Local heat fluxes were measured with 12 heat flux sensors to estimate the local enthalpies, temperatures and heat transfer coefficients. Bulk mean temperatures of CO2 at the inlet and outlet of the test section were measured with 2 K-type thermocouples. The measurements were performed for the pressure ranged from 6.48 to 7.3 MPa, inlet temperature of CO2 from 21.63 to 31.33℃, heat flux from 1.10 to 8.12 kW/m2, mass velocity from 123.2 to 315.2 kg/m2s, and vapor quality from 0 to 1. The results indicate that pressure drop is very small along the test section, heat transfer coefficient in the two-phase region is higher than that in the single-phase, and mass velocity has important effect on condensation heat transfer characteristics. In addition, experimental data were compared with previous correlations and large discrepancies were observed.

In this paper,we shall give a complete structural description of generalizations of the classical Eisenstein formula that expresses the first periodic Bernoulli polynomial as a finite combination of cotangent values,as a relation between two bases of the vector space of periodic Dirichlet *** shall also determine the limiting behavior of them,giving rise to Gauss' famous closed formula for the values of the digamma function at rational points on the one hand and elucidation of Eisenstein-Wang's formulas in the context of Kubert functions on the other.W shall reveal that most of the relevant previous results are the combinations of the generalized Eisenstein formula and the functional equation.

Annular Supersonic Swirling Flows with Heterogeneous Condensation

Application of Simple Adaptive Control to Water Hydraulic Servo Cylinder System

Although conventional model reference adaptive control （MRAC） achieves good tracking performance for cylinder control, the controller structure is much more complicated and has less robustness to disturbance in real applications. This paper discusses the use of simple adaptive control （SAC） for positioning a water hydraulic servo cylinder system. Compared with MRAC, SAC has a simpler and lower order structure, i.e., higher feasibility. The control performance of SAC is examined and evaluated on a water hydraulic servo cylinder system. With the recent increased concerns over global environmental problems, the water hydraulic technique using pure tap water as a pressure medium has become a new drive source comparable to electric, oil hydraulic, and pneumatic drive systems. This technique is also preferred because of its high power density, high safety against fire hazards in production plants, and easy availability. However, the main problems for precise control in a water hydraulic system are steady state errors and overshoot due to its large friction torque and considerable leakage flow. MRAC has been already applied to compensate for these effects, and better control performances have been obtained. However, there have been no reports on the application of SAC for water hydraulics. To make clear the merits of SAC, the tracking control performance and robustness are discussed based on experimental results. SAC is confirmed to give better tracking performance compared with PI control, and a control precision comparable to MRAC （within 10 μm of the reference position） and higher robustness to parameter change, despite the simple controller. The research results ensure a wider application of simple adaptive control in real mechanical systems.
