The safety and toxicity of chemicals given first to animals and finally to humans are generally estimated with a method of safe coefficient, which is scientifically a way lack of grounds. To make a change of the old method, we designed a Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetics Medel for the estimate of safety and toxicity of chemicais. As an example,p-nitrophenol sodium (PNP-Na) is used in the research work. Studies of the PNP-Na pharmacokinetics in bodies of rat as well as humans are made, and possibilities of making use of the Model in the estimate of safety and toxicity of chemicals are discussed.

We describe a polarization rotator based on a parallel-core structure consisting of a silicon nanowire waveguide and a silicon-nitride *** 60-μm-long rotator provides a polarization extinction ratio of more than 10 dB with excess loss of less than 1 *** addition,the extremely wide bandwidth of more than 150 nm expected from calculations is confirmed in experiments.A study of the fabrication tolerance of our rotator indicates that fabrication error of around 25 nm is allowable.

In this study, the inhomogeneous dealloying phenomenon during the liquid metal dealloying(LMD) was investigated using FeNi+Mg and(FeCo)Ni+Mg systems. For the FeNi+Mg system, the inhomogeneous dealloying and wetting of Mg melt occurred along triple junction(TJ) and grain boundary(GB).Temperature increase enhances the inhomogeneous dealloying kinetics and leads to the formation of the plate-shaped abnormal ligaments at the GB region. The energy banlance between a GB energy(γGB)and solid-liquid interface energies(γsl) is the key factor governing the inhomogeneous dealloying and wetting. Particularly, the low-energy twin boundaries were unaffected by the inhomogeneous ***, precursor microstructure is an important factor determining the final morphology of dealloyed material as well as its physical properties. In the case of the(FeCo)Niprecursor, all TJ and GB were stable against the preferred penetration of Mg melt from 600 ℃ to 800 ℃. It was concluded that a minor addition of alloying elements(VorCr) changes GB characteristics as well as γslof the precursor ***, this significantly influences dealloying mechanisms and final morphology of the dealloyed material. The current findings demonstrate the importance of GB engineering in the precursor materials for the technological application of liquid metal dealloying for the synthesis of advanced structural and functional materials.

To reduce the energy demand and operation cost for circular electron positron collider(CEPC), the high efficiency klystrons are being developed at Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. A 800-k W continuous wave(CW) klystron operating at frequency of 650-MHz has been designed. The results of beam–wave interaction simulation with several different codes are presented. The efficiency is optimized to be 65% with a second harmonic cavity in three-dimensional(3D) particle-in-cell code CST. The effect of cavity frequency error and mismatch load on efficiency of klystron have been investigated. The design and cold test of reentrant cavities are described, which meet the requirements of RF section design. So far, the manufacturing and high-power test of the first klystron prototype have been *** the gun operated at DC voltage of 80 k V and current of 15.4 A, the klystron peak power reached 804 k W with output efficiency of about 65.3% at 40% duty cycle. The 1-d B bandwidth is ±0.8 MHZ. Due to the crack of ceramic window, the CW power achieved about 700 kW. The high-power test results are in good agreement with 3D simulation.

Improvement of a Real Gas-Sensor for the Origin of Methane Selectivity Degradation by l-XAFS Investigation

We have directly investigated the chemical state of the Pd species in a real l-gas sensor device by examining the l-fluorescence X-ray absorption fine structure. The l-gas sensor device was heavily damaged by a heating process in which the temperature was ill-controlled, resulting in decrease of methane selectivity. We found that the Pd O in the fresh l-gas sensor was reduced to Pd metal particles as the methane selectivity decreased. Based on the investigation results, we modified the device structure so as to heat up homogeneously. The lifetime of the sensor was then successfully increased by more than 5 years.

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics of advanced colorectal cancer which was 30 mm or smaller in diameter. Methods Retrospective analysis documented 80 patients with small advanced colorectal cancer from May 1985 to May 2002. According to the diameter of tumors, all patients were divided into three groups: Group A (10 mm or less), Group B (11-20 mm), Group C (21-30 mm). Considering the number of patients in Group A was smaller, we combined Group A with Group B as Group D. Then various clinicopathological characteristics were compared between Group C and Group D. Results The most common site of small advanced colorectal cancer was sigmoid colon and rectum that accounted for 36.2% and 35.0% of all cases. The average diameter of total tumors was 23.3 mm. Type 2 was the most common macroscopic type (63.7%) and the moderate differentiation was seen in 77.5% of cases. Thirty-eight (47.5%) cases had lymph node metastasis. Three (3.8%) cases had liver metastasis and three (3.8%) cases had peritoneal metastasis. The frequency of lymph node metastasis was found significantly different between Group C and Group D (54.2% vs. 28.6%, P<0.05), as well as between the groups with different depth of invasion (P<0.05). Curability A resection was performed in 69 (86.2%) cases. Conclusions Tumor size and depth of invasion are related to lymph node metastasis in small advanced colorectal cancer. However, the small size of tumor may not always be *** parameter for estimating the risk of lymph node metastasis. Small colorectal cancers also do not always mean the early stage. Surgeons should be aware of the features of small advanced colorectal cancers to select ideal management and perform perfect resection.

Gastric sarcoidosis with noncaseating granuloma is rare. Although corticosteroid produces a dramatic clinical response, it is unknown whether azathioprine show efficacy in prednisolone-dependent cases. Here, we report a case of gastric sarcoidosis in a 25-year-old man with severe epigastlargia. Gastroendoscopy revealed multiple map-like ulcerations. Histological examination showed multiple noncaseating granulomatous lesions in gastric mucosa, which were incompatible with diagnoses of Crohn's disease or tuberculosis. He was started on prednisolone at 30 mg/d, and his symptoms improved within 7-d. The prednisolone was gradually tapered by 5 mg every 2-wk, but oral azathioprine at 50 mg was added after symptoms recurred at tapered dose of 10 mg. Endoscopy 4-wk later showed healing ulcers, and, lymphocytic infiltration was absent. The efficacy of additional azathioprine in gastric sarcoidosis is not well defined. Here, we report a case of prednisolone-dependent gastric sarcoidosis that improved after additional azathioprine, and also review the literature concerning the treatment, especially for prednisolone-dependent cases.

A DFT Method for Single-Control Testability of RTL Data Paths for BIST

This paper presents a new BIST method for RTL data paths based on single-control testability, a new concept of testability. The BIST method adopts hierarchical test. Test pattern generators are placed only on primary inputs and test patterns are propagated to and fed into each module. Test responses are similarly propagated to response analyzers placed only on primary outputs. For the propagation of test patterns and test responses paths existing in the data path are utilized. The DFT method for the single-control testability is also proposed. The advantages of the proposed method are high fault coverage (for single Stuck-at faults), low hardware overhead and capability of at-speed test. Moreover, test patterns generated by test pattern generators can be fed into each module at consecutive system clocks, and thus, the BIST can also detect some faults of other fault models (e.g., transition faults and delay faults) that require consecutive application of test patterns at speed of system clock.
