A spatial template is important to study nearby supernova remnants(SNRs).For SNR G332.5-5.6,we report a Gaussian disk with a radius of about 1°.06 to be a potential good spatial model in the γ-ray band.Employing this new Gaussian disk,its GeV lightcurve shows a significant variability of about seven sigma.The γ-ray observations of this SNR could be explained well either by a leptonic model or a hadronic model,in which a flat spectrum for the ejected electrons/protons is required.

1 Introduction The release of the most recent volume of Congenital Heart Disease(CHD)(Issue 19,Volume 1,2024)coincides with my assumption of the role of Co-Editor-In-Chief for CHD.I would like to express my appreciation to CHD for providing me with the opportunity to use the Editorial page.I took on this responsibility on November 18,2023.I would like to take this opportunity to share reflections and convey my appreciation.Founded in 2006,CHD stands as the pioneering professional periodical exclusively dedicated to the exploration and treatment of congenital cardiac abnormalities across all age groups.Its paramount goal is to elevate the scholarly and educational dimension of CHD,driven by an unwavering commitment to provide optimal,holistic cardiac care to patients spanning infancy to adulthood.This commitment remains steadfast,with a focus on community service,research,and education quality,regardless of the patient’s financial situation.

Polarization upconversion luminescence（PUCL） of lanthanide ions (Ln3+) has been widely used in single particle tracking,microfluidics detection,three-dimensional displays,and so on.However,no effective strategy has been developed for modulating PUCL.Here we report a strategy to regulate PUCL in Ho3+-doped NaYF4single nanorods based on the number of upconversion photons.By constructing a multiphoton upconversion system for Ho3+,we regulate the degree of polarization （DOP） of PUCL from 0.590 for two-photon luminescence to 0.929 for three-photon upconversion luminescence （UCL）.Furthermore,our strategy is verified from cross-relaxation between Ho3+and Yb3+,excitation wavelength,excitation power density,and local site symmetry.And this regulation strategy of PUCL has also been achieved in Tm3+,with the DOP ranging from 0.233 for two-photon luminescence to 0.925 for four-photon UCL Besides,multi-dimensional anti-counterfeiting display has been explored with PUCL.This work provides an effective strategy for regulating PUCL and also provides more opportunities for the development of polarization display optical encoding,anti-counterfeiting,and integrated optical devices.

TOPK Inhibition Enhances the Sensitivity of Colorectal Cancer Cells to Radiotherapy by Reducing the DNA Damage Response

Objective Abnormal expression of T-lymphokine-activated killer cell-originated protein kinase(TOPK)was reported to be closely related to the resistance of prostate cancer to radiotherapy and to targeted drug resistance in lung cancer.However,the role of TOPK inhibition in enhancing radiosensitivity of colorectal cancer(CRC)cells is unclear.This study aimed to evaluate the radiosensitization of TOPK knockdown in CRC cells.Methods The expression of TOPK was detected in CRC tissues by immunohistochemistry,and the effect of TOPK knockdown was detected in CRC cells by Western blotting.CCK-8 and clonogenic assays were used to detect the growth and clonogenic ability of CRC cells after TOPK knockdown combined with radiotherapy in CRC cells.Furthermore,proteomic analysis showed that the phosphorylation of TOPK downstream proteins changed after radiotherapy.DNA damage was detected by the comet assay.Changes in the DNA damage response signaling pathway were analyzed by Western blotting,and apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry.Results The expression of TOPK was significantly greater in CRC tissues at grades 2–4 than in those at grade 1.After irradiation,CRC cells with genetically silenced TOPK had shorter comet tails and reduced expression levels of DNA damage response-associated proteins,including phospho-cyclin-dependent kinase 1(p-CDK1),phospho-ataxia telangiectasia-mutated(p-ATM),poly ADP-ribose polymerase(PARP),and meiotic recombination 11 homolog 1(MRE11).Conclusions TOPK was overexpressed in patients with moderately to poorly differentiated CRC.moreover,TOPK knockdown significantly enhanced the radiosensitivity of CRC cells by reducing the DNA damage response.

This study focuses on finding a solution to the sharp decline in mechanical properties of Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloys due to rapid coarsening of traditional intermediate phases at high temperature.A new type of modified al oy,to be used in automobile engines at high temperatures,was prepared by adding Zr and mo into Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloy.The synergistic effects of Zr and mo on the microstructure evolution and high-temperature mechanical properties were studied.Results show that the addition of Zr and mo generates a series of intermetallic phases dispersed in the alloy.They can improve the strength of the alloy by hindering dislocation movement and crack propagation.In addition,some nano-strengthened phases show coherent interfaces with the matrix and improve grain refinement.The addition of mo greatly improves the heat resistance of the alloy.The extremely low diffusivity of mo enables it to improve the thermal stability of the intermetallic phases,inhibit precipitation during aging,reduce the size of the precipitates,and improve the heat resistance of the alloy.

Background Tetralogy of Fallot(TOF)is the most common cyanotic congenital heart disease.Children with TOF would be confronted with neurological impairment across their lifetime.Our study aimed to identify the risk factors for cerebral morphology changes and cognition in postoperative preschool-aged children with TOF.Methods We used mass spectrometry(MS)technology to assess the levels of serum metabolites,Wechsler preschool and primary scale of intelligence-Fourth edition(WPPSI-Ⅳ)index scores to evaluate neurodevelopmental levels and multimodal magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)to detect cortical morphological changes.Results Multiple linear regression showed that preoperative levels of serum cortisone were positively correlated with the gyrification index of the left inferior parietal gyrus in children with TOF and negatively related to their lower visual spaces index and nonverbal index.Meanwhile,preoperative SpO_(2) was negatively correlated with levels of serum cortisone after adjusting for all covariates.Furthermore,after intervening levels of cortisone in chronic hypoxic model mice,total brain volumes were reduced at both postnatal(P)11.5 and P30 days.Conclusions Our results suggest that preoperative serum cortisone levels could be used as a biomarker of neurodevelopmental impairment in children with TOF.Our study findings emphasized that preoperative levels of cortisone could influence cerebral development and cognition abilities in children with TOF.

Manganese cobaltite(MnCo_(2)_(4))is a promising electrode material because of its attractive redox chemistry and excellent charge storage capability.Our previous work demonstrated that the octahedrally-coordinated Mn are prone to react with the hydroxyl ions in alkaline electrolyte upon electrochemical cycling and separates on the surface of spinel to reconstruct into d-MnO_(2) nanosheets irreversibly,thus results in a change of the reaction mechanism with Kþion intercalation.However,the low capacity has greatly limited its practical application.Herein,we found that the tetrahedrally-coordinated Co_(2) þions were leached when MnCo_(2)_(4) was equilibrated in 1 mol L^(-1) HCl solution,leading to the formation of layered CoOOH on MnCo_(2)_(4) surface which is originated from the covalency competition induced selective breakage of the CoT–O bond in CoT–O–CoO and subsequent rearrangement of free Co_(6) octahedra.The as-formed CoOOH is stable upon cycling in alkaline electrolyte,exhibits conversion reaction mechanism with facile proton diffusion and is free of massive structural evolution,thus enables utilization of the bulk electrode material and realizes enhanced speciﬁc capacity as well as facilitated charge transfer and ion diffusion.In general,our work not only offers a feasible approach to deliberate modiﬁcation of MnCo_(2)_(4)'s surface structure,but also provides an in-depth understanding of its charge storage mechanism,which enables rational design of the spinel oxides with promising charge storage properties.

The multiple metal catalyst as a promising nanomaterial has shown excellent activity in the peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation for pollutant degradation.However,the role of special sites and in-depth understanding of the PMS activation mechanism are not fully studied.In this study,a Cu-doped CoFe_(2)O_(4)nanocatalyst(0.5CCF)was synthesized by a sol-gel and calcination method,and used for PMS activation to remove Rhodamine B(RhB).The results showed that the Cu doping obviously enhanced the catalytic performance of CoFe_(2)O_(4),with 99.70%of RhB removed by 0.5CCF while 74.91%in the CoFe_(2)O_(4)within 15 min.Based on the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electrochemical analysis,this could be ascribed to the more low valence of Co and Fe species generated on the 0.5CCF and faster electron transfers occurred in the 0.5CCF due to the Cu doping.In addition,Cu doping could provide more reaction sites for the 0.5CCF to activate PMS for RhB removal.The metal species and the surface hydroxyl were the reaction sites of PMS activation,and the surface hydroxyl played an important role in surface-bound reactive species generation.During the PMS activation,the Cu not only activated PMS to produce reactive oxygen species(ROS),but also regenerated Co^(2+)and Fe^(2+)to accelerate the PMS activation.The non-radical of ^(1)O_(2)was the main ROS with a 99.35%of contribution rate,and the SO_(5)^(·–)self-reaction was its major source.This study provides a new insight to enhance the PMS activation performance of multiple metal catalysts by Cu doping in wastewater treatment.

BACKGROUND The role of Sm-like 5(LSM5)in colon cancer has not been determined.In this study,we investigated the role of LSM5 in progression of colon cancer and the potential underlying mechanism involved.AIM To determine the role of LSM5 in the progression of colon cancer and the potential underlying mechanism involved.METHODS The Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis database and the Human Protein Atlas website were used for LSM5 expression analysis and prognosis analysis.Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting were utilized to detect the expression of mRNAs and proteins.A lentivirus targeting LSM5 was constructed and transfected into colon cancer cells to silence LSM5 expression.Proliferation and apoptosis assays were also conducted to evaluate the growth of the colon cancer cells.Human GeneChip assay and bioinformatics analysis were performed to identify the potential underlying mechanism of LSM5 in colon cancer.RESULTS LSM5 was highly expressed in tumor tissue and colon cancer cells.A high expression level of LSM5 was related to poor prognosis in patients with colon cancer.Knockdown of LSM5 suppressed proliferation and promoted apoptosis in colon cancer cells.Silencing of LSM5 also facilitates the expression of p53,cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1A(CDKN1A)and tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily 10B(TNFRSF10B).The inhibitory effect of LSM5 knockdown on the growth of colon cancer cells was associated with the upregulation of p53,CDKN1A and TNFRSF10B.CONCLUSION LSM5 knockdown inhibited the proliferation and facilitated the apoptosis of colon cancer cells by upregulating p53,CDKN1A and TNFRSF10B.
