Simple instruments facilitating achievement of transanal total mesorectal excision in male patients

AIM To assess the efficacy of a modified approach with transanal total mesorectal excision(ta TME) using simple customized instruments in male patients with low rectal *** A total of 115 male patients with low rectal cancer from December 2006 to August 2015 were retrospectively studied. All patients had a bulky tumor(tumor diameter ≥ 40 mm). Forty-one patients(group A) underwent a classical approach of transabdominal total mesorectal excision(TME) and transanal intersphincteric resection(ISR), and the other 74 patients(group B) underwent a modified approach with transabdominal TME,transanal ISR, and ta TME. Some simple instruments including modified retractors and an anal dilator with a papilionaceous fixture were used to perform ta TME. The operative time, quality of mesorectal excision, circumferential resection margin, local recurrence, and postoperative survival were *** All 115 patients had successful sphincter preservation. The operative time in group B(240 min, range: 160-330 min) was significantly shorter than that in group A(280 min, range: 200-360 min; P = 0.000). Co m pa r e d w it h g r o up A, m o r e c o m p le t e d is t a l mesorectum and total mesorectum were achieved in group B(100% vs 75.6%, P = 0.000; 90.5% vs 70.7%, P = 0.008, respectively). After 46.1 ± 25.6 mo followup, group B had a lower local recurrence rate and higher disease-free survival rate compared with group A, but these differences were not statistically significant(5.4% vs 14.6%, P = 0.093; 79.5% vs 65.1%, P = 0.130). CONCLUSION Retrograde ta TME with simple customized instruments can achieve high-quality TME, and it might be an effective and economical alternative for male patients with bulky tumors.

Metal-organic frameworks with dinuclear metal centers for synergistically boosting CO2 photoreduction

Dinuclear metal synergistic catalysis （DMSC） has been proved powerful in boosting CO2reduction,while this has not been achieved in heterogeneous catalysts with long-range order *** this study,we,by introduction of metal catalytic centers into an indium-based metal-organic framework （MOF）,obtained a series of isostructural In-MOFs,including three MOFs with mononuclear metal catalytic center （M-In）,three MOFs with dinuclear homometallic catalytic centers （MM-In）,and three MOFs with dinuclear heterometallic catalytic centers (MM’-In,M/M’=Co（II）,ni（II）,Zn（II）).It was found that all these MOFs can serve as catalysts for photochemical CO2reduction to *** with M-In,the catalytic activities of MM-In were obviously enhanced,and that of MM’-In was further significantly *** example,the CO yield of Co Zn-In reaches a record value of 12,700μmol g-1h-1,which is 4.0,8.1,9.4,and 18.6-fold higher than that of Co Co-In,Zn Zn-In,Co-In,and Zn-In,***,the catalytic activities of Co ni-In and ni Zn-In also show different fold increase than those of corresponding dinuclear homometallic and mononuclear metallic *** results of control experiments and theoretical calculation reveal that the higher catalytic activities of MM-In over M-In can be ascribed to the DMSC effect,and the higher catalytic activity of MM’-In over MM-In can be ascribed to the strengthened DMSC *** work reveals the relationship between DMSC effect and bimetal centers in CO2reduction,which provides new insights into the DMSC and paves a new way to design highly active catalysts for photochemical CO2reduction.

Grid-Connected/Islanded Switching Control Strategy for Photovoltaic Storage Hybrid Inverters Based on Modified Chimpanzee Optimization Algorithm

Uneven power distribution,transient voltage,and frequency deviations are observed in the photovoltaic storage hybrid inverter during the switching between grid-connected and island *** response to these issues,this paper proposes a grid-connected/island switching control strategy for photovoltaic storage hybrid inverters based on the modified chimpanzee optimization *** proposed strategy incorporates coupling compensation and power differentiation elements based on the traditional droop ***,it combines the angular frequency and voltage amplitude adjustments provided by the phase-locked loop-free pre-synchronization control *** pre-synchronization is achieved by regulating the virtual current to zero and aligning the photovoltaic storage hybrid inverter with the grid ***,two novel operators,learning and emotional behaviors are introduced to enhance the optimization precision of the chimpanzee *** operators ensure high-precision and high-reliability optimization of the droop control parameters for photovoltaic storage hybrid inverters.A Simulink model was constructed for simulation analysis,which validated the optimized control strategy’s ability to evenly distribute power under load *** strategy effectively mitigated transient voltage and current surges during mode ***,seamless and efficient switching between gridconnected and island modes was achieved for the photovoltaic storage hybrid *** enhanced energy utilization efficiency,in turn,offers robust technical support for grid stability.

Background:Rosa chinensis *** Rosa rugosa *** not only of ornamental value,but also edible flowers and the flower buds have been listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia as traditional *** two plants have some differences in efficacy,but the flower buds are easily confused for similar *** addition,large-scale cultivation of ornamental rose flowers may lead to a decrease in the effective components of medicinal ***,it is necessary to study the chemical composition and make quality evaluation of Rosae Chinensis Flos(Yueji)and Rosae Rugosae Flos(Meigui).Methods:In this study,40 batches of samples including Meigui and Yueji from different regions in China were collected to establish high-performance liquid chromatography ***,the fingerprints data was analyzed using principal component analysis,hierarchical cluster analysis,and partial least squares discriminant analysis analysis chemometrics to obtain information on intergroup differences,and non-targeted metabolomic techniques were applied to identify and compare chemical compositions of samples which were chosen from groups with large *** compounds were screened by orthogonal partial least-squares discriminant analysis and S-plot,and finally multi-component quantification was performed to comprehensively evaluate the quality of Yueji and ***:The similarity between the fingerprints of 40 batches roses and the reference print R was 0.73 to 0.93,indicating that there were similarities and differences between the *** principal component analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis of fingerprints data,the samples from different origins and varieties were intuitively divided into four *** least-squares discriminant analysis analysis showed that Meigui and Yueji cluster into two categories and the model was reliable.A total of 89 compounds were identified by high resolution mass spectrometry,mainly were flavonoids and flavon

Nano high-entropy oxide cathode with enhanced stability for direct borohydride fuel cells

High-entropy materials have become high-activity electrocatalysis owing to their high-entropy effect and multiple active ***,we synthesize a series of carbon-supported nano high-entropy oxides（HEOs/C）,specifically （PtFeConiCu）O/C,using a carbothermal shock （CTS） method for application as a cathode catalyst in direct borohydride fuel cells （DBFCs）.The microstructure of the prepared catalysts was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray absorption fine structure,and transmission electron *** prepared （PtFeConiCu）O/C,with particle sizes ranging from 2 to 4 nm,demonstrates 3.94 transferred electrons towards the oxygen reduction reaction in an alkaline environment,resulting in a minimal H2O2yield of 2.6%.Additionally,it exhibits a Tafel slope of 61 mV dec-1,surpassing that of commercial Pt/C (82 mV dec-1).Furthermore,after 40,000 cycles of cyclic voltammetry（CV） testing,the half-wave potential of （PtFeConiCu）O/C shows a positive shift of 3 mV,with no notable decline in the limiting current *** （PtFeConiCu）O/C is used as a cathode catalyst in DBFCs,the DBFC achieves a maximum power density of 441 mW cm-2at 60°C and sustains a cell voltage of approximately 0.73 V after 52 h at 30°*** findings confirm that HEO/C is a promising cathode catalyst for DBFCs.

Formation and evolution of supercritical geofluid

In this work, we provide a comprehensive review on the formation, evolution, properties, and effects of supercritical geofluid. In Earth's interior, enhanced miscibility between H2O and silicate by the addition of special components or by the increase of pressure and temperature gives rise to supercritical geofluid with a significant amount of both H2O and silicate *** formation of supercritical geofluid in magmatic-hydrothermal systems, typified by pegmatite system, is governed by meltfluid critical curve. The formation of supercritical geofluid in metamorphic systems, typified by subducted slab, is governed by the second critical end point. Experimental results suggest that the presence of boron and fluorine in pegmatite system makes it possible to form supercritical geofluid at crustal depths, but the release of supercritical geofluid from subducted slab is withheld until almost 100 km depth. A major presence of both H2O and depolymerized structural units（monomers, dimers, etc.） endows supercritical geofluid with unique physical properties including low density, low elastic moduli, low viscosity, high diffusivity,and high electrical conductivity. Supercritical geofluid can effectively mobilize a variety of elements even including high field strength elements and heavy rare earth elements. The chemical signatures of supercritical geofluid can be inherited by metasomatized mantle and mantle-derived melts, and this could give an explanation of the oxidation of arc magmas. Phase separation of supercritical geofluid through the mechanism of spinodal decomposition leads to formation of a melt network. Multiphase fluid inclusions recovered from subduction zone rocks and pegmatites are possible relics of supercritical geofluid. Supercritical geofluid can cause electrical anomaly and low seismic velocity near the top of subducted slab, and can be linked with intermediate-focus earthquakes. Effect of SiC Location on the Ablation of C/C-SiC Composites in Two Heat Fluxes

How layer-segregated distribution of SiC affects the ablation of C/C-SiC composites was studied in the present work.A certain amount of SiC particles was deposited at the non-woven（C/C—SiC-1） and web（C/C-SiC-2） layer of 2D needle-punched carbon fibre fabric reinforced pyrocarbon composites,*** under oxyacetylene torch demonstrated that the two composites have similar ablation rates in heat flux of 2.38 MW/m2whereas ablation rates of C/C-SiC-2 were much higher than those of C/C—SiC-1 when heat flux was 4.18 MW/***2covered partially the defective surface of both composites in the lower heat *** different SiC locations induced distinct defects and then led to the two composites’ dissimilar ablation rates in the higher heat flux.

An SPH wave-current flume using open boundary conditions

In this paper, a novel numerical wave-current flume is implemented based on the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method. The proposed flume is more stable and computationally efficient than conventional ones because it cancels wave paddles or sponge layers while using a non-reflective open boundary condition to simultaneously generate and absorb waves and currents. Numerical tests of nonlinear regular waves interacting with steady currents in the same/opposite directions indicate that the wave-current interactions mainly affect the horizontal velocity distributions in the water body, with little influence on the vertical movements. Water particle trajectories are stretched, and the mass transportation effects are enhanced when the waves and currents are in the same direction. When the directions are opposed, the trajectories, as well as the mass transportation, are compressed, suppressed and even reversed. The applications of solitary wave-current interaction over a submerged bump further show that the relative direction between the wave and the current has remarkable influence on the wave breaking pattern over an underwater obstacle.
