Recently, functional molecules such as Polydopamine(PDA), Hyaluronic Acid(HA) and heparin have been widely studied in the field of surface modification of magnesium(Mg) alloy stents for better degradation behavior and biocompatibility, but their further application is limited by undesirable anticoagulant function, uncontrollable degradation and easy bleeding, respectively.Regarding to this consideration, a magnesium Fluoride/Polydopamine/Sulphonated hyaluronic acid(Mg F2/PDA/S-HA) composite coating was successfully prepared by applying S-HA with sulfur content of 9.71 wt% on the surface of ZE21B alloy in this study. The results showed that the composite coating with a unique mesh structure not only inherited the anticoagulant effect of sulfonic acid group and the excellent cyto-compatibility of S-HA with high sulfur content, but also significantly improved the corrosion performance of ZE21B alloy.These results indicate a great application potential of the composite coating in the field of cardiovascular biomaterials.

Future changes in tropical cyclone(TC)activity over the western North Pacific(WNP)under the representative concentration pathway RCP4.5 are investigated based on a set of 21 st century climate change simulations over East Asia with the regional climate model RegCM4 driven by five global models.The RegCM4 reproduces the major features of the observed TC activity over the region in the present-day period of 1986-2005,although with the underestimation of the number of TC genesis and intensity.A low number of TCs making landfall over China is also simulated.By the end of the 21st century(2079-98),the annual mean frequency of TC genesis and occurrence is projected to increase over the WNP by16%and 10%,respectively.The increase in frequency of TC occurrence is in good agreement among the simulations,with the largest increase over the ocean surrounding Taiwan Island and to the south of Japan.The TCs tend to be stronger in the future compared to the present-day period of 1986-2005,with a large increase in the frequency of strong TCs.In addition,more TCs landings are projected over most of the China coast,with an increase of~18%over the whole Chinese territory.

Friction stir spot welding was successfully applied to the 1.2-mm-thick DH590 dual-phase steel plates by using a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride rotating tool.During welding,the rotation speed ranged from 600 to 1000 r/min and the penetration depth ranged from 0.1 to 0.3 mm.In the spot joints,the size of the stir zone increased with the increase in rotation speed as well as the penetration depth of the tool.Comparing with the banded ferrite and martensite structure of the base metal,a mixed microstructure of ferrite and tempered martensite,refined bainite structure and coarse martensite structure were found in the heat-affected zone,thermomechanically affected zone and stir zone of the joints,respectively.Two kinds of interfacial shapes were formed between the upper and lower steel plates,and the formation of the bonded interface was dominated mainly by the penetration depth of the rotating tool rather than the rotation speed.It was revealed that the joints with straight interfaces showed higher shear tensile loads comparing with those with hook-like interfaces.Shear tensile tests showed that the maximum shear tensile load reached about 15.56 kN when the rotation speed and penetration depth were set as 800 r/min and 0.3 mm,respectively.The specimen was fractured through plug failure mode with a total elongation of about 5.6 mm.

Early human embryogenesis is a very sophisticated process due to its unique gene regulatory network.Autophagy has been suggested to play an important role in mediating the development of early embryonic cells in mammals.However,evidence showing how autophagy regulates early human embryogenesis remains to be further explored.In this study,we systematically investigated the human transcriptome and methylome patterns of autophagy-related(ATG)genes in early embryonic cells at single-cell resolution.We analyzed the transcriptomic data of 365 cells and methylome data of 265 cells.The results showed that most ATG genes remained epigenetically active and were expressed stably throughout early embryogenesis,whereas the dynamics varied among different developmental stages.This evidence indicated that the autophagy pathway was constitutively activated and exerted a fundamental role in early human embryo development.Our work,for the first time,comprehensively reveals the features of autophagy during early human embryo development.

Cutaneous metastasis from esophageal squamous cell carcinoma:A case report

BACKGROUND Esophageal cancer is a common cause of cancer-related death worldwide.Cutaneous metastasis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is rare,particularly in diffuse skin metastasis.CASE SUMMARY In this case report,we describe an 82-year-old male who was diagnosed with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.The tumor was staged as T4N3M1(Stage IVB).The pathological findings revealed poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus.Four months after diagnosis,the patient began chemotherapy,and symptoms were relieved after four cycles of chemotherapy.After that,the patient returned home without a systematic physical examination.One year after diagnosis,the patient realized that the skin of the abdominal wall was hard and rough without pain,and the color became darker than normal skin.Thirteen months after diagnosis,a biopsy of the patient’s abdominal lesion revealed that the skin metastasis was derived from the esophagus.Then the patient received two cycles of apatinib combined with docetaxel,but the abdominal lesion worsened.Two cycles of nivolumab were administered,but the patient eventually died of multiple organ failure.CONCLUSION This report highlights cutaneous metastasis as a late and untreatable metastasis of esophageal cancer.

Accurately and directly characterizing the thermal properties of graphene and thin-graphite films(GFs)is of fundamental importance for understanding the heat transport mechanism and of practical interest in possible applications of thermal management.However,due to the lack of experiment data,the mechanism of the thickness dependence of GFs thermal properties has not been fully understood yet.In this study,a 90-nm-thick GF is characterized by the time-domain thermoreflectance method,and the obtained GFs in-plane thermal conductivity and interfacial thermal conductance between GFs and gold are(1354±297)W/(m·K)and(38±6)MW/(m^(2)·K),respectively.Two theoretical models are also applied for comparison and discussion,and we conclude that the influence from the surface perturbation by supporting materials on the phonon transport of graphite nano-films will beyond the near surface layers to the more inner ones.This work not only provides a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of the thermal transport size effect in GFs,but also facilitates the possible applications of GFs as heat spreaders in the future.

Cavity magnomechanics has recently become a new platform for studying macroscopic quantum phenomena.The magnetostriction induced vibration mode of a large-size ferromagnet or ferrimagnet reaching its ground state represents a genuine macroscopic quantum state.Here we study the ground-state cooling of the mechanical vibration mode in a cavity magnomechanical system,and focus on the role of magnon squeezing in improving the cooling efficiency.The magnon squeezing is obtained by exploiting the magnon self-Kerr nonlinearity.We find that the magnon squeezing can significantly and even completely suppress the magnomechanical Stokes scattering.It thus becomes particularly useful in realizing ground-state cooling in the unresolved-sideband regime,where the conventional sideband cooling protocols become inefficient.We also find that the coupling to the microwave cavity plays only an adverse effect in mechanical cooling.This makes essentially the two-mode magnomechanical system(without involving the microwave cavity)a preferred system for cooling the mechanical motion,in which the magnon mode is established by a uniform bias magnetic field and a microwave drive field.

BACKGROUND Breast cancer patients have a high skin metastasis rate.However,reports on treatment of cutaneous metastases of breast cancer are scarce.CASE SUMMARY We report the treatment process for one breast cancer case with bone,lung,and skin metastases.The patient was a 43-year-old woman with advanced breast cancer and skin metastasis.She underwent pathological diagnosis by needle biopsy to guide the treatment.When the disease progressed,a new pathological diagnosis was determined by needle biopsy to guide the treatment.The patient received chemotherapy,endocrine therapy,and photodynamic dynamic therapy,followed by sonodynamic therapy.CONCLUSION Repeated puncture should be performed for advanced breast cancer with skin metastasis,in order to obtain the pathology and directly determine diagnosis when the disease progresses.The treatment should focus on controlling the systemic metastasis,rather than the local disease.

Sandwich Structure Design of a Cooling Fin for Battery Modules Against Impact Loads

Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)are widely employed in electric vehicles owing to their high power density,long cycle life,and environmental friendliness.However,LIBs are hazardous in the event of a crash,leading to thermal runaway.In this study,the basic structure of a battery module is analyzed to improve the crashworthiness of LIBs.A simplified finite element model of the battery module structure,which is a battery unit composed of two pouch cells and a cooling fin,is set up and verified by conducting module-level simulations.The simulation results reveal that the cooling fin in the battery module has the potential to absorb energy.Six sandwich configurations are introduced to modify the cooling fin.With a unidirection-ally stiffened double hull USDH structure serving as an example,a parametric analysis is conducted,demonstrating that the sandwich height does not influence the areal density;a small height of 3 mm can make the material work sufficiently while avoiding early buckling of the structure.Further,the crashworthiness of different sandwich configurations with the same areal density and height is compared,leading to three deformation modes.USDH and circular core structures are found to be able to effectively reduce the peak force and improve the energy absorption ability.
