The genome-wide meiotic recombination landscape in ciliates and its implications for crossover regulation and genome evolution

Meiotic recombination is essential for sexual reproduction and its regulation has been extensively studied in many ***,genome-wide recombination landscape has not been reported in ciliates and it remains unknown how it is affected by the unique features of ciliates:the synaptonemal complex(SC)-independent meiosis and the nuclear ***,we show the recombination landscape in the model ciliate Tetrahymena thermophila by analyzing single-nucleotide polymorphism datasets from 38 hybrid *** detect 1021 crossover(CO)events(35.8 per meiosis),corresponding to an overall CO rate of 9.9 cM/***,gene conversion by non-crossover is rare(1.03 per meiosis)and not biased towards G or C *** with the reported roles of SC in CO interference,we find no obvious sign of CO *** tends to occur within germ-soma common genomic regions and many of the 44 identified CO hotspots localize at the centromeric or subtelomeric *** ontology analyses show that CO hotspots are strongly associated with genes responding to environmental *** discuss these results with respect to how nuclear dimorphism has potentially driven the formation of the observed recombination landscape to facilitate environmental adaptation and the sharing of machinery among meiotic and somatic recombination.

Dynamic thermo-mechanical responses of road-soft ground system under vehicle load and daily temperature variation

A complete road-soft ground model is established in this paper to study the dynamic responses caused by vehicle loads and/or daily temperature variation.A dynamic thermo-elastic model is applied to capturing the behavior of the rigid pavement,the base course,and the subgrade,while the soft ground is characterized using a dynamic thermo-poroelastic *** to the road-soft ground system are derived in the Laplace-Hankel transform *** time domain solutions are obtained using an integration *** temperature,thermal stress,pore water pressure,and displacement responses caused by the vehicle load and the daily temperature variation are *** show that obvious temperature change mainly exists within 0.3 m of the road when subjected to the daily temperature variation,whereas the stress responses can still be found in deeper places because of the thermal swelling/shrinkage deformation within the upper road ***,it is important to consider the coupling effects of the vehicle load and the daily temperature variation when calculating the dynamic responses inside the road-soft ground system.

Neural-field-assisted transport-of-intensity phase microscopy: partially coherent quantitative phase imaging under unknown defocus distance

The transport-of-intensity equation(TIE) enables quantitative phase imaging(QPI) under partially coherent illumination by measuring the through-focus intensities combined with a linearized inverse reconstruction algorithm. However, overcoming its sensitivity to imaging settings remains a challenging problem because of the difficulty in tuning the optical parameters of the imaging system accurately and because of the instability to long-time measurements. To address these limitations, we propose and experimentally validate a solution called neural-field-assisted transport-of-intensity phase microscopy(NFTPM) by introducing a tunable defocus parameter into neural field. Without weak object approximation, NFTPM incorporates the physical prior of partially coherent image formation to constrain the neural field and learns the continuous representation of phase object without the need for training. Simulation and experimental results of He La cells demonstrate that NFTPM can achieve accurate, partially coherent QPI under unknown defocus distances, providing new possibilities for extending applications in live cell biology.

Effect of perioperative chemotherapy on resection of isolated pulmonary metastases from colorectal cancer:A single center experience

Lightweight and high-security laser-based cotton tip pruning robot

Considering the current environmental pollution caused by chemical topping,plant damage caused by mechanical topping,and the high cost of manual topping,a laser-based cotton-tip pruning robot for field cotton was designed in this *** main advantages of this robot include its safety,light weight,low cost,and environmental ***,the structural design,measurement,and corresponding control system design of the robot were ***,a precise laser control method based on Yolov5 cotton top identification and the inverse kinematic solution of parallel robot rapid positioning were ***,the optimal laser irradiation wavelength and duration were ***,a laser-topping experiment was conducted,and the overall accuracy and recall rates for cotton identification were 98.3%and 99.3%,*** AP and mAP at the threshold value of 0.5 reached 99.3%and 78.8%,*** maximum positioning error of the jacking system is 2.6 mm,and the repeated positioning error is within±1.2 cm,which meets the accuracy requirements of laser ***-purple laser irradiation at 15 W and 405 nm for 22 s was the best topping *** the effects of cotton topping with and without manual topping,it can be seen that laser topping significantly improved the yield and *** with the photothermal response of the cotton topping,the feasibility of laser topping was verified both theoretically and *** laser-topping scheme proposed in this study exhibits high efficiency,environmental protection,and safety,as well as good application prospects.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease accompanied by persistent multiarticular synovitis and cartilage degradation. The present clinical treatments are limited to disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and aims to relieve pain and control the inflammation of RA. Despite considerable advances in the research of RA, the employment of current clinical procedure is enormous, hindered by systemic side effect, frequent administration, tolerance from long-lasting administration, and high costs. Emerging immunoengineering-based strategies, such as multiple immune-active nanotechnologies via mechanism-based immunology approaches, have been developed to improve specific targeting and to reduce adverse reactions for RA treatments. Here, we review recent studies in immunoengineering for the treatment of RA. The prospect of future immunoengineering treatment for RA has also been discussed.

Photocatalytic in situ H_(2)O_(2) production and activation for enhanced ciprofloxacin degradation over CeO_(2)-Co_(3)O_(4)/g-C_(3)N_(4):key role of CeO_(2)

The abused ciprofloxacin antibiotics have caused significant environmental *** oxidative degradation of ciprofloxacin exhibits promising efficacy,it often entails excessive energy ***,it is necessary to explore an effective and ecologically sustainable degradation ***,we demonstrated that g-C_(3)N_(4) decorated with the coordinated CeO_(2)and Co_(3)O_(4)(CeO_(2)-Co_(3)O_(4)/CN)exhibited effective ciprofloxacin photodegradation via in situ H_(2)O_(2) production and activation *** indicate that the introduced CeO_(2) enhances the transference of photogenerated electrons to O_(2) by adjusting the oxygen vacancy of photocatalyst,thereby increasing the generation of superoxide radicals,which in turn generate H_(2)O_(2),resulting in a 22.4-fold increase in H_(2)O_(2) generation over g-C_(3)N_(4).Moreover,the in situ H_(2)O_(2)generation facilitated by CeO_(2) is confirmed to be essential for ciprofloxacin degradation via CeO_(2)-Co_(3)O_(4)/CN,as it provides enough oxidant for Co_(3)O_(4) to activate into hydroxyl radicals for the pollutants ***,CeO_(2)-Co_(3)O_(4)/CN achieves a ciprofloxacin degradation ratio of 97.7%within 80 *** study introduces a novel approach that combines H_(2)O_(2) generation and activation,offering an innovative perspective for achieving clean and efficient purification of antibiotic-contaminated water.

Ferroelectric perovskite PbTiO3for advanced photocatalysis

The ferroelectric semiconductor material PbTiO3exhibits remarkable spontaneous polarization and photoelectric properties, positioning it as a promising polar photocatalyst. The internal electric field of ferroelectrics can separate photocarriers and enhance the catalytic performance of photocatalysts. Moreover, when combined with other semiconductors, PbTiO3contributes to the construction of a depolarization field, extending the catalytic applications of PbTiO3catalysts. PbTiO3exhibits optical absorption, semiconductor, and piezoelectric properties. Its piezoelectric polarization field enhances charge separation, modulates band structure, surface charge conduction, and heterojunction interface charge conduction,thereby amplifying photocatalytic activity. This paper begins by examining the structure, properties, and preparation methods of PbTiO3. Subsequently, it delves into the optimization of PbTiO3's structure and performance,exploring applications in photocatalysis as a ferroelectric photocatalyst. Emphasis is placed on the detailed discussion of surface modification, heterostructure formation, and ferroelectric polarization of PbTiO3ferroelectrics. These aspects are thoroughly explored for their role in regulating activity and optimizing the performance of photocatalysis and photopiezoelectric catalysis. In conclusion, the paper addresses the current research status of PbTiO3ferroelectric materials and highlights the challenges that lie *** intention is to provide valuable references for the ongoing research in PbTiO3ferroelectric materials.

Modelling and validation of flash flood inundation in drylands

In the context of climate change and human activities,flood disasters in arid mountainous areas have become increasingly frequent,and seriously threatened the safety of people's lives and *** and accurate flash flood inundation modelling is an essential foundational research area,which can aid in the reduction of casualties and the minimization of disaster losses;however,this modelling is also very difficult,and models need to be urgently developed to address flash flood forecasting and *** objective of this study is to construct a numerical modelling method for flash floods in *** on a 2D high-resolution flood numerical model(Flood Map-Hydro Inundation2D),we hindcasted the dynamic process of flash flooding and show the spatio-temporal characteristics of flash flood inundation for the“8·18”flash flood disaster that occurred in Datong county,Qinghai *** results showed that the model output effectively agreed with the observed inundation after the event in terms of both spatial extent and temporal *** flooding mainly occurred between 00:00 and 01:00 on August 18,***,Hejiazhuang and Longwo villages were affected most *** further conducted model sensitivity analysis and found that the model was highly sensitive to both roughness and hydraulic conductivity in drylands,and the effect of hydraulic conductivity was more *** study confirmed the good performance of our model for the simulation of flash flooding in arid areas and provides a potential method for flash flood assessment and management in arid areas.
