Sand waves of approxim.tely 2 m.in height were observed to m.grate nearly 40 m.with counterclockwise rotation between two bathym.tric surveys perform.d three m.nths apart near the southeastern corner of m.rtha’s Vineyard, m.ssachusetts. The region is characterized by strong tidal currents, interm.ttent energetic surface wave events, and shallow water with local depth ranging from.2 to 7 m. This study uses the process-based m.del, Delft3D, with a three-dim.nsional approach to exam.ne the sand wave dynam.cs by incorporating surface waves, winds, currents, and bathym.tric observations. The m.del successfully sim.lates sand wave m.gration in com.arisons to observations. m.del sensitivity analyses show that the sand wave m.gration reduces by 65% with the absence of the surface waves. The m.deled sand wave m.gration speed is correlated with the tidal current Shields param.ter, and sharp increases in m.gration speed occur when the wave-driven Shields param.ter increases in response to energetic surface wave events. The com.ined effect of tides, surface waves, and bathym.try is the origin of the rotational aspect of the sand wave, using the Shields param.ter as an indicator of tidal currents and surface wave influence on sand wave dynam.cs.

In recent years, fluorescent lam. dim.ing controls are an integral part of daylight artificial light integrated schem.s intended for realization of energy savings. However, dim.ing, like any lighting option, presents its own particular challenges and potential tradeoffs. In view of this, the present m.nuscript depicts the prelim.nary work progress carried out to arrive at a com.rehensive idea on dim.ing im.lications on key factors: electrical characteristics, photom.tric distributions of lighting system. and influence on quality as well as quantity of visual environm.nt. The objective is to experim.ntally establish the acceptable range of dim.ing control voltage that would satisfy both electrical and photom.tric perform.nce of lum.naire. The vital part of the paper is devoted towards presentation of m.asurem.nt results. For the experim.ntal analysis, three representative sam.les of different com.ercial analog 1-10VDC electronic dim.able ballasts and fluorescent fixtures are com.ared and evaluated over their control voltage dim.ing range.

The m.ddle reaches of the Yangtze River are the worst flood area of the whole basin. To study the variation regulation of the fl oods in this area over a long historical period assure im.rovem.nt in prediction s of floods in the region. The trend of flood occurred frequency has close relat ionship with hum.n activities near the river. By using statistics analysis, the fluctuations for the tim. series of floods since 1525 are studied. The results show that the m.in cycle of flood variation can be identified obviously the per iod of 2, 8 and 40 years with exceeding the level of confidence 0.03.

本文用神经生理学和心理物理学技术,在同一声学及振动刺激条件下,在不同水平上对非骨鳔类鲡鱼(Hem.chrom.s bim.culatus)的听觉机能进行了系统研究。结果表明鲡鱼的听觉范围在100～600Hz,敏感频率段为200～300Hz,与骨鳔类有显著差别。以内耳球状中微音器电位和中脑诱发电位测量为依据做出的等电位听力图与整体行为反应听力图的带宽相符。加速度听力图中,在400Hz以上敏感度下降。由声及振动引起的中脑诱发电位听力图相似,一般特征为在100Hz以上出现低通滚降10dB/octave。所有结果都表明鲡鱼对水中声压及质点运动成分均有明显反应,300Hz以下敏感度最高。
