Ranking parameters in urban energy models for various building forms and climates using sensitivity analysis

Urban Building Energy Modelling(UBEM)allows us to simulate buildings’energy performances at a larger ***,creating a reliable urban-scale energy model of new or existing urban areas can be difficult since the model requires overly detailed input data,which is not necessarily publicly *** calibration is a necessary step to reduce the uncertainties and simulation results in order to develop a reliable and accurate *** to the concerns over computational resources and the time needed for calibration,a sensitivity analysis is often required to identify the key parameters with the most substantial impact before the calibration is deployed in ***,we study the sensitivity of uncertain input parameters that affect the annual heating and cooling energy demand by employing an urban-scale energy model,*** goal is to determine the relative influence of each set of input parameters and their interactions on heating and cooling loads for various building forms under different ***,we conduct a global sensitivity analysis for annual cooling and heating consumption under different climate *** upon this,we investigate the changes in input sensitivity to different building forms,focusing on the indices with the largest Total-order ***,we determine First-order indices and Total-order effects of each input parameter included in the urban building energy *** also provide tables,showing the important parameters on the annual cooling and heating demand for each climate and each building *** find that if the desired calibration process require to decrease the number of the inputs to save the computational time and cost,calibrating 5 parameters;temperature set-point,infiltration rate,floor U-value,*** U-value and roof U-value would impact the results over 55%for any climate and any building form.

Deformable quadrotors can manipulate their specific structure for specialized tasks or excellent flight performance under diverse *** added deformation mechanism,the quadrotor exhibits higher flexibility;however,this is accompanied by difficulties in modeling analysis and controller design,which are crucial ***,a novel deformable quadrotor that can alter its arm's length is designed by combining the crank-slider mechanism and *** dynamics,including the attitude and position systems,are analyzed and the former is further described as switched linear parameter varying(SLPV)systems from a control-oriented *** addition,a combined SLPV/proportion-integration-differentiation(PID)attitude controller is developed to handle different deformable quadrotor modes,which guarantees the stability of the closed-loop attitude system during the deformation process and achieves attitude ***,together with the cascade PID position controller,the entire flight controller is constructed whose feasibility is verified via fixed-point hovering and trajectory tracking experiments.

xCCL:A Survey of Industry-Led Collective Communication Libraries for Deep Learning

Machine learning techniques have become ubiquitous both in industry and academic *** model sizes and training data volumes necessitate fast and efficient distributed training *** communications greatly simplify inter-and intra-node data transfer and are an essential part of the distributed training process as information such as gradients must be shared between processing *** this paper,we survey the current state-of-the-art collective communication libraries(namely xCCL,including NCCL,oneCCL,RCCL,MSCCL,ACCL,and Gloo),with a focus on the industry-led ones for deep learning *** investigate the design features of these xCCLs,discuss their use cases in the industry deep learning workloads,compare their performance with industry-made benchmarks(i.e.,NCCL Tests and PARAM),and discuss key take-aways and interesting *** believe our survey sheds light on potential research directions of future designs for xCCLs.

An Efficient Stacked-LSTM Based User Clustering for 5G NOMA Systems

Non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA)has been a key enabling technology for the fifth generation(5G)cellular *** on the NOMA principle,a traditional neural network has been implemented for user clustering(UC)to maximize the NOMA system’s throughput performance by considering that each sample is independent of the prior and the subsequent ***,the prediction of UC for the future ones is based on the current clustering information,which is never used again due to the lack of memory of the ***,to relate the input features of NOMA users and capture the dependency in the clustering information,time-series methods can assist us in gaining a helpful insight into the *** its mathematical complexity,the essence of time series comes down to examining past behavior and extending that information into the ***,in this paper,we propose a novel and effective stacked long short term memory(S-LSTM)to predict the UC formation of NOMA users to enhance the throughput performance of the 5G-based NOMA *** the proposed strategy,the S-LSTM is modelled to handle the time-series input data to improve the predicting accuracy of UC of the NOMA users by implementing multiple LSTM layers with hidden *** implemented LSTM layers have feedback connections that help to capture the dependency in the clustering information as it propagates between the ***,we develop,train,validate and test the proposed model to predict the UC formation for the futures ones by capturing the dependency in the clustering information based on the time-series *** results demonstrate that the proposed scheme effectively predicts UC and thereby attaining near-optimal throughput performance of 98.94%compared to the exhaustive search method.

In petroleum domain,optimizing hydrocarbon production is essential because it does not only ensure the economic prospects of the petroleum companies,but also fulfills the increasing global demand of ***,applying numerical reservoir simulation(NRS)to optimize production can induce high computational *** models are suggested to alleviate this challenge because they are computationally less demanding and able to yield reasonably accurate *** this paper,we demonstrated how a machine learning technique,namely long short-term memory(LSTM),was applied to develop proxies of a 3D reservoir *** techniques were employed to create numerous simulation cases which served as the training database to establish the *** blind validating the trained proxies,we coupled these proxies with particle swarm optimization to conduct production *** training and blind validation results illustrated that the proxies had been excellently developed with coefficient of determination,R2 of *** also compared the optimization results produced by NRS and the *** comparison recorded a good level of accuracy that was within 3%*** proxies were also computationally 3 times faster than ***,the proxies have served their practical purposes in this study.

Predicting wax deposition using robust machine learning techniques

Accurate prediction of wax deposition is of vital interest in digitalized systems to avoid many issues that interrupt the flow assurance during production of hydrocarbon *** present investigation aims at establishing rigorous intelligent schemes for predicting wax deposition under extensive production *** do so,multilayer perceptron(MLP)optimized with Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm(MLPLMA)and Bayesian Regularization algorithm(MLP-BR)were taught using 88 experimental *** latter were described by some independent variables,namely temperature(in K),specific gravity,and compositions of C1eC3,C4eC7,C8eC15,C16eC22,C23eC29 and C30þ.The obtained results showed that MLP-LMA achieved the best performance with an overall root mean square error of 0.2198 and a coefficient of determination(R2)of *** performance comparison revealed that MLP-LMA outperforms the prior approaches in the literature.

目的探讨腰大池置管引流术联合万古霉素鞘内注射治疗开颅术后颅内感染的临床效果。方法选取2017年1月至2023年1月我院收治的80例开颅术后颅内感染患者,随机分为两组各40例。对照组采用盐酸万古霉素静脉滴注治疗,观察组采用腰大池置管引流术联合万古霉素鞘内注射治疗。比较两组的治疗效果、颅内压与脑脊液相关指标。结果观察组的治疗总有效率为95.00%,显著高于对照组的77.50%(P<0.05)。治疗后,观察组的颅内压以及脑脊液中白细胞计数、蛋白质水平均显著低于对照组,脑脊液中葡萄糖水平显著高于对照组(P<0.05)。结论腰大池置管引流术联合万古霉素鞘内注射治疗开颅术后颅内感染效果显著,可明显降低患者颅内压,改善患者的脑脊液指标。

Incorporating geotechnical and geophysical investigations for underground obstruction detection:A case study

Determining the location and boundary of underground obstructions and/or anomalies is a common problem and often a great chal-lenge for tunneling and underground *** this study,geotechnical investigations(penetration tests and borehole drilling/sam-pling)and geophysical investigations(surface wave method and cross-hole seismic method)were conducted with the aim of identifying the location and boundary of rock obstructions in Changi East,*** surface wave method is frequently used in the sites with lateral homogeneity in previous studies,but its application in the sites with rock obstructions is *** experimental results of this study indicate that the surface wave method is also able to determine the upper surface of rock obstructions,but difficult to identify the lateral and bottom boundaries of rock *** improve the precision of detection,the full waveform inversion(FWI)method was used to process the data from the cross-hole seismic *** results indicate that the inversion precision of P-wave is higher than that of *** horizontal and vertical ranges of rock obstructions in the P-wave inversion results are 14–26 m and 7.5–11.0 m respectively,roughly consistent with the results of penetration tests(about 15–25 m)and borehole log(8.85–10.80 m).This result proves that the sequential application of first-arrival time analysis and FWI can effectively delineate the boundary of rock ***,the results of various detection methods were analyzed and compared in this *** the advantages of various methods,we propose a cost-effective and high-precision workflow containing both geotechnical and geophysical investigations.

CO_(2)capture and conversion has been prospected as an auspicious technology to simultaneously tackle the rise in global CO_(2)emission and produce valueadded fuels with the goal of accomplishing carbon neutrality.A sustainable route to achieve this is via the utilization of solar energy,thereby harnessing the abundant and nonexhaustive resource to shift our reliance away from rapidly depleting fossil *** carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))and its allotrope have earned its rank as a fascinating metal-free photocatalyst due to its superior stability,high surface-area-to-volume ratio,and tunable surface *** leveraging these properties,robust carbon nitride-based nanostructures are engineered for photocatalytic CO_(2)conversion to energy-rich C_(1)-C_(2) product,which is indispensable in the chemical ***,this review presents the latest panorama of experimental and computational research on tuning the local electronic,surface chemical coordination environment,charge dynamics and optical properties of low-dimensional carbon nitride and its allotropes toward highly selective and efficient CO_(2)*** name a few,structural engineering,point-defect engineering,heterojunction construction,and cocatalyst *** advance this frontier,critical insights are elucidated to establish the structure-performance relationship and unravel primary factors dictating the selectivity of C_(1)-C_(2) molecules from CO_(2)***-field assisted photocatalysis such as with electric(photoelectro-)and heat(photothermal)is discussed to uncover the synergistic contributions that drive the development in ***,future challenges and prospects are outlined for the potential application of solar-driven CO_(2)conversion,along with the scale-up strategy from the economic viewpoint toward the rational development of high-efficiency carbon nitride catalysts.

Microplastics(MPs)have been widely detected in drinking water sources and tap water,raising the concern of the effectiveness of drinking water treatment plants(DWTPs)in protecting the public from exposure to MPs through drinking *** collected and analyzed the available research articles up to August 2021 on MPs in drinking water treatment(DWT),including laboratory-and full-scale *** article summarizes the major MP compositions(materials,sizes,shapes,and concentrations)in drinking water sources,and critically reviews the removal efficiency and impacts of MPs in various drinking water treatment *** discussed drinking water treatment processes include coagulation-flocculation(CF),membrane filtration,sand filtration,and granular activated carbon(GAC)*** DWT processes that are purposed for particle removal are generally effective in reducing MPs in *** influential factors to MP removal are discussed,such as coagulant type and dose,MP material,shape and size,and water *** is anticipated that better MP removal can be achieved by optimizing the treatment ***,the article framed the major challenges and future research directions on MPs and nanoplastics(NPs)in DWT.
