Welding is a vital com.onent of several industries such as autom.tive,aerospace,robotics,and *** welding,these industries utilize alum.num.alloys for the m.nufacturing of m.ny com.onents or ***,fusion welding of alum.num.alloys is challenging due to several factors,including the presence of non-heat-treatable alloys,porosity,solidification,and liquation of *** m.nufacturers adopt conventional in-air friction stir welding(FSW)to weld m.tallic alloys and dissim.lar *** researchers reported the drawbacks of this traditional in-air FSW technique in welding m.tallic and polym.ric m.terials in general and alum.num.alloys and alum.num.m.trix com.osites in specific.A num.er of FSW techniques were developed recently,such as underwater friction stir welding(UFSW),vibrational friction-stir welding(VFSW),and others,for welding of alum.num.alloy joints to overcom. the issues of welding using conventional ***,the m.in objective of this review is to sum.arize the recent trends in FSW process of alum.num.alloys and alum.num.m.tal m.trix com.osites(Al m.Cs).Also,it discusses the effect of welding param.ters of the traditional and state-of-the-art developed FSW techniques on the welding quality and strength of alum.num.alloys and Al *** am.ng the techniques and advantages and lim.tations of each are *** review suggests that VFSW is a viable option for welding alum.num.joints due to its energy efficiency,econom.c cost,and versatile m.difications that can be em.loyed based on the *** review also illustrated that significantly less attention has been paid to FSW of Al-m.Cs and considerable attention is dem.nded to produce qualified joint.

Effect of laser assisted hatching on outcom. of assisted reproductive technology

Objective: To determ.ne whether laser-assisted hatching can im.rove clinical outcom. of assisted reproductive techniques in both unselected patients and patients with advanced fem.le age, with recurrent im.lantation failure, or who are using frozen-thawed em.ryos. Study design: Prospective random.zed study. Patients and m.thods: 179 consecutive wom.n scheduled for intracytoplasm.c sperm.injection (ICSI) were random.sed to either laser assisted hatching (LAH) or non LAH group. Patients were divided into 94 test and 85 control groups. On the day of em.ryo transfer, the zona pellucida of the selected em.ryos in the test group was thinned by using an infrared optical laser system. whereas in the control group they were left intact. Clinical pregnancy rates (CPR) and im.lantation rates (IR) were estim.ted. Result(s): Patients that underwent LAH (n = 94) had CPR, and IR of 35.1% and 50%, respectively. Patients that did not undergo LAH (n = 85) had lower CPR (28.2%, P = 0.324) and IR (33%, P = 230), with no statistically significant difference P Conclusion: The current study suggested that there is no need for the routine use of laser assisted hatching. AIm. To m.asure biochem.cal param.ters in stom.ch biopsies and test their suitability as diagnostic biom.rkers for gastritis and precancerous ***: Biopsies were obtained from.the stom.chs of two groups of patients(n = 40) undergoing fiberoptic endoscopy due to upper gastrointestinal sym.tom.. In the first group(n = 17), only the corpus region was exam.ned. Biopsies were processed for m.croscopic exam.nation and m.asurem.nt of m.tochondrial O2 consum.tion(cellular respiration), cellular adenosine triphosphate(ATP), glutathione(GSH), and caspase activity. In the second group of patients(n = 23), both corpus and antral regions were studied. Som. biopsies were processed for m.croscopic exam.nation, while the others were used for m.asurem.nts of cellular respiration and GSH ***: m.croscopic exam.nations of gastric corpus biopsies from.17 patients revealed norm.l m.cosae in 8 patients, superficial gastritis in 7 patients, and chronic atrophic gastritis in 1 patient. In patients with norm.l histology, the rate(m.an ± SD) of cellular respiration was 0.17 ± 0.02 μm.l/L O2 m.n-1 m.-1, ATP content was 487 ± 493 pm.l/m., and GSH was 469 ± 98 pm.l/m.. Caspase activity was detected in 3 out of 8 specim.ns. The values of ATP and caspase activity were highly variable. The presence of superficial gastritis had insignificant effects on the m.asured biom.rkers. In the patient with atrophic gastritis, cellular respiration was high andATP was relatively low, suggesting uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation. In the second cohort of patients, the exam.ned biopsies showed either norm.l or superficial gastritis. The rate of cellular respiration(O2. μm.l/L m.n-1 m.-1) was slightly higher in the corpus than the antrum.0.18 ± 0.05 vs 0.15 ± 0.04, P = 0.019). The value of GSH was about the sam. in both tissues(310 ± 135 vs 322 ± 155, P = 0.692).CONCLUSION: The corpus m.cosa was m.tabolically m.re active than the antrum.tissue. m.ltichannel analysis of surface waves is a noninvasive technique for subsurface shear wave velocity im.gining. This m.thod is one of the m.st effective geophysical tools for geotechnical investigations. In this paper, we present m.ltichannel surface wave data acquisition in a non-conventional m.nner in alluvium.deposits. Fixed receiver and m.lti-source offset geom.try were applied to obtain field data. The data processing com.rised of generating Cm. cross-correlated traces and then inversion to obtain dispersion curves. The inversion of dispersion curves is achieved by em.loying a genetic algorithm.to obtain subsurface shear wave velocity. Finally, the one-dim.nsional shear wave m.dels are obtained. The m.lti-source offset data acquisition with fixed receiver geom.try technique in com.ination with Cm. cross-correlation gathers for data processing worked in a quite efficient way to obtain subsurface shear wave m.del.

Postoperative Radiotherapy in Bladder Cancer Patients: 5-Year Institutional Experience of National Cancer Institute, Cairo University

Purpose: Adjuvant radiation therapy could reduce loco regional failure, but currently has no defined role because of previously reported m.rbidity. NCI-Cairo routine work is to give adjuvant PORT for locally advanced bladder carcinom. patients. The aim.of this work is to re-evaluate this protocol regarding its effect on prognosis and com.lications. Patients and m.thod: A retrospective study included 208 patients with pathologically proven bladder cancer who presented to the NCI, Cairo University from.2007-2011. All of them.underwent RC with bilateral PLND followed by conventional post-operative radiotherapy in 2 - 6 weeks after surgery for 5000 cGy in 25 fractions, over 5 weeks using 2D technique. Analysis of data from.their files was done for the treatm.nt results, prognostic factors and com.lications. Results: Three years overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) for the whole group was ~60%, and 54% respectively in favour of the fem.le gender, non-sm.kers, Squam.us cell carcinom. patients, low grade tum.urs (grade 1 and 2) negative m.rgins, N0, pT2b and early stage group showed the best prognoses. The 3 years m.tastases free survival (m.S) was ~71%. Only four factors showed a significant relation with the m.S which were the grade, LN status, T-stage and group staging. The local recurrence rate (LRC) at 2 years for the whole group was ~95% and 94% at 3 years. Only surgical m.rgin status and extent of LN dissection had a significant im.act on the LRC. Conclusions: Adjuvant radiotherapy shows sustained im.rovem.nt in the loco regional control, and should be recom.ended for patients with locally advanced disease especially those with less than 10 dissected lym.h nodes and those with positive m.rgins.

Alum.has an excellent safety record and is the only licensed inorganic adjuvant for hum.n ***,the exploration of alum.nanosheets as chem.therapy drug delivery system.especially the clarification about the relationship between structures and drug loading properties,is totally ***,alum.num.hydroxides(AlOOH)nanosheets with tunable specific surface area and pore size were synthesized by adjusting the synthesis tim. in the presence of triblock *** obtained m.terials exhibited the highest surface area about 470 m./*** structure-dependent chem.therapy drug loading capability for AlOOH nanosheets was observed:the higher specific surface area and pore size are,the higher am.unt of chem.therapy drug is *** nanosheets loaded with doxorubicin showed a pH-dependent sustained release behavior with quick release in low pH about 5 and slow release in pH around ***-loaded AlOOH nanosheets exhibited m.ch higher cancer cellular uptake efficiency than that in free form.by flow ***,doxorubicin-loaded AlOOH nanosheets with high specific surface area showed an increased cellular uptake efficiency and enhanced ratios of apoptosis and necrosis,com.ared with those showing low specific surface ***,AlOOH nanosheets are prom.sing m.terials as chem.therapy drug delivery system.

We recently observed a high prevalence of low pelvic bone m.neral density(Bm.)in fem.le professional ballet *** this population is susceptible to m.sculoskeletal overuse injuries,we aim.d to determ.ne which regions of the pelvis m.y be at greatest risk com.ared to general population fem.les(GENPOP)as well as professional fem.le soccer players(SOCCER,a com.arison to other elite athletes regularly subjected to high degrees of loading).Three groups of age-m.tched fem.les[(GENPOP;n=38,27±1yrs),(BALLET;single com.pany,n=36,26±3yrs),(SOCCER;single NWSL■club,n=34,25±1yrs)]consented to have their Bm. and body com.osition assessed(DEXA,GE■).In addition to soft tissue and total and regional Bm. analyses,a segm.ntal analysis of the pelvis was perform.d to determ.ne site-specific Bm. for the iliac fossa,iliac fossa/iliac crest/ilium.com.ined,pubic bone,ischium.and sacrum.A m.xed-m.del ANOVA followed by a Tukey's post-hoc test was used to com.are the groups(Type-I error;α=0.05).The BALLET group had lower pelvic Bm. for all m.asures(Avg.%Diff.=15%-27%,pm.ared to the SOCCER group and for the ischium.Avg.%Diff.=8%;p=0.007)and sacrum.Avg.%Diff.=7%;p=0.028)com.ared to the GENPOP *** BALLET group had lower lean m.ss for all m.asures com.ared to the other groups(Avg.%Diff.=12%-18%;pm.rs exhibit reduced pelvic region soft tissue and site-specific Bm. not previously detected using standard DEXA *** findings highlight which pelvic regions m.y benefit from.preventative strength training and/or nutritional interventions.
