Ba.kground: Polycystic ova.ia. syndrome (PCOS) is considered the commonest endocrinologica. disorder a.fecting reproductive a.ed women. PCOS compromises fertility through va.ious pa.hwa.s. These pa.hwa.s include hypera.drogenism, insulin resista.ce a.d impeda.ce of the uterine a.d endometria. blood flow. Metformin improves the blood flow to the endometrium. It a.ts by reducing a.drogen level a.d correction of insulin resista.ce. Endometria. va.cula. indices were eva.ua.ed in this study to eva.ua.e endometria. receptivity in a.ovula.ory pa.ients with PCOS. a.m of the Work: To eva.ua.e the outcome of metformin a.ministra.ion in a.ovula.ory pa.ients with PCOS a.d its effect on the endometrium. This included its role in ovula.ion a.d improvement of pregna.cy ra.es. Pa.ients a.d Methods: This study included 85 pa.ients from a.n Sha.s University outpa.ient infertility clinics from 1st of Ja.ua.y, 2018 till 30th of June, 2018. We investiga.ed these pa.ients before trea.ment with ultra.ound on da. 14, 21. We eva.ua.ed endometria. thickness, uterine a.tery flow pa.tern, endometria. a.d subendometria. flow pa.terns. The pa.ients received metformin 500 mg three times per da. for three months. a.ter this dura.ion, we reeva.ua.ed them by ultra.ound a. da.s 14, 21. Results: Metformin thera.y resulted in a.significa.t increa.e of endometria. thickness a.d ha. a.significa.t decrea.e on uterine, endometria. a.d subendometria. resista.ce index (R.I) a.d pulsa.ility index (P.I) a. da. 14, 21 compa.ed to pre-trea.ment va.ues indica.ing better blood flow. Conclusion: Metformin thera.y resulted in improvement of endometria. flow pa.terns. a.so, it resulted in increa.e in endometria. thickness a.d improvement of uterine a.tery flow.

Objective: Studying sub endometria. va.cula.ity a.d blood flow in ca.es using intra.terine contra.eptive devices for contra.eption with a.d without menorrha.ia.compa.ed to ca.es not using intra.terine contra.eptive devices. Methods: Three hundred a.d fifteen women a.tending gynecology a.d fa.ily pla.ning outpa.ient clinics in the ma.ernity hospita., a.n Sha.s University were included in the study. They were cla.sified into three groups, 105 women using IUCD with menorrha.ia.(group I), 105 women using IUCD without menorrha.ia.(group II), a.d 105 norma. controls not using IUCD (group III). a.ter excluding loca. ca.ses for bleeding, blood disea.e or a.y medica. disorders, tra.sva.ina. ultra.ound including three dimensiona. power Doppler (3DPD) ultra.ound wa. done for a.l women. Right a.d left uterine a.tery pulsa.ility index (PI) a.d resista.ce index (RI) were ca.cula.ed, subednometria. blood flow RI a.d PI were obta.ned then 3DPD Va.cula. indices (VI, FI a.d VFI) of subendometria. blood flow were obta.ned for a.l ca.es. Sta.istica. a.a.ysis wa. done to compa.e between the three groups. Results: a.significa.t sta.istica. difference wa. found a. rega.ds subendometria. va.cula.ity indices, while there wa. no difference a. rega.ds bila.era. uterine a.teries Doppler indices in the three groups. Conclusion: Subendometria. va.cula.ity in ca.es of menorrha.ia.with IUCD wa. ma.kedly higher tha. in ca.es without menorrha.ia.a.d ca.es with no IUCD. 3DPD ma. be used for selection of ca.es prior to insertion of IUCD.
