Cotton leaf worm. Spodoptera littoralis, is considered one of the m.st com.on arthropod pests that contribute to crop devastation of cotton. Previously, agricultural pests were controlled through the application of chem.cal insecticides. However, insecticide-resistant insect populations em.rgence, as well as increasing concerns about the environm.ntal and hum.n health risks. Venom.us anim.ls introduce valuable sources of bioactive com.ounds which are em.loyed for defence. Som. of these toxins have high phyletic specificity, m.king them.appropriate for use in IPm.program.. This study aim. to test the insecticidal effects of Polistes dom.nulus and Apis m.llifera venom.. Crude venom. were exam.ned for their insecticidal effect against cotton leaf worm. by four different application m.thods including: leaf dipping, integum.nt dropping, spraying, and injection. The data dem.nstrated a strong response to purified (Polistes dom.nulus) venom.at an initial tim. than that of honey bee (Apis m.llifera) which increases response with increasing the dose and the tim. interval. A dosage of 0.015 - 0.16 m. of both venom. had notably varied in LD50 values on Spodoptera littoralis that showed higher wasp venom.toxicity. Cotton leaf worm. showed m.re susceptibility and m.rtality to the Polistes sp. venom.than that of honey bees.

AIm. To analyze childhood glaucom. regarding its dem.graphics, presentations, different causes and surgical m.dalities used am.ng patients in Dakahelia and to apply the Childhood Glaucom. Research Network（CGRN） classification retrospectively to evaluate its ***： A retrospective study in which the m.dical files of all glaucom. patients 〈16 years old presented to m.nsoura Ophthalm.c Center, m.nsoura University from.2014 to 2017, were retrieved and analyzed. Collected data included： age, gender, laterality, visual acuity（VA）, refraction, intraocular pressure（IOP）, corneal diam.ter, cup-disc ratio, types and num.er of surgeries and antiglaucom.tous drugs（AGD） at the first and last visit. Prevalence of different subtypes was calculated and m.ans of clinical features were ***： A total of 305 eyes of 207 patients were included classified into 6 groups： prim.ry congenital glaucom.（PCG）, juvenile open angle glaucom.（JOAG）, glaucom. associated with system.c disease, glaucom. associated with ocular anom.lies, acquired glaucom. and glaucom. following cataract surgery. PCG was the predom.nant type（55.1%） followed by acquired glaucom.（29.5%）. m.les represented 63.8% of the whole studied patients. Glaucom. associated with ocular anom.ly group showed the youngest age at diagnosis（21.9±30.0 m.）. The shortest corneal diam.ter was recorded in post cataract group（10.4±0.5 m.）. Highest cup-disc ratio was found in the PCG group（P〈0.0005）. Glaucom. associated with system.c disease presented with the highest baseline IOP（34.5±5.0 m. Hg）. All the cases with PCG were treated surgically with 21.8% required m.re than one surgery. The m.jority of the patients（74.2%） in the acquired group were treated m.dically. Com.ined trabeculotom.-trabeculectom. was the m.st frequent operation done, accounting for 34.5% of all prim.ry surgeries. Ahm.d valve im.lantation com.rised 87% of the secondary surgeries. m.st of sleep disorders are diagnosed based on the sleep scoring and assessm.nts. The purpose of this study is to com.ine detrended fluctuation analysis features and spectral features of single electroencephalograph (EEG) channel for the purpose of building an autom.ted sleep staging system.based on the hybrid prediction engine m.del. The testing results of the m.del were prom.sing as the classification accuracies were 98.85%, 92.26%, 94.4%, 95.16% and 93.68% for the wake, non-rapid eye m.vem.nt S1, non-rapid eye m.vem.nt S2, non-rapid eye m.vem.nt S3 and rapid eye m.vem.nt sleep stages, respectively. The overall classification accuracy was 85.18%. We concluded that it m.ght be possible to em.loy this approach to build an industrial sleep assessm.nt system.that reduced the num.er of channels that affected the sleep quality and the effort excreted by sleep specialists through the process of the sleep scoring.

Bacterial infections post-living-donor liver transplantation in Egyptian hepatitis C virus-cirrhotic patients: A singlecenter study

AIm.To determ.ne risk factors, causative organism. and antim.crobial resistance of bacterial infections following living-donor liver transplantation(LDLT) in cirrhotic *** This prospective study included 45 patients with hepatitis C virus-related end-stage liver disease who underwent LDLT at Ain Sham. Center for Organ Transplant, Cairo, Egypt from.January 2014 to Novem.er 2015. Patients were followed-up for the first 3 m. after LDLT for detection of bacterial infections. All patients were exam.ned for the possible risk factors suggestive of acquiring infection pre-, intra-and post-operatively. Positive cultures based on clinical suspicion and patterns of antim.crobial resistance were identified. RESULTS Thirty-three patients(73.3%) suffered from.bacterial infections; 21 of them.had a single infection episode, and 12 had repeated infection episodes. Bile was the m.st com.on site for both single and repeated episodes of infection(28.6% and 27.8%, respectively). The m.st com.on isolated organism. were gram.egative bacteria. Acinetobacter baum.nnii was the m.st com.on organism.isolated from.both single and repeated infection episodes(19% and 33.3%, respectively), followed by Escherichia coli for repeated infections(11.1%), and Pseudom.nas aeruginosa for single infections(19%). Levofloxacin showed high sensitivity against repeated infection episodes(P = 0.03). Klebsiella, Acinetobacter and Pseudom.nas were m.lti-drug resistant(m.R). Pre-transplant hepatocellular carcinom.(HCC) and duration of drain insertion(in days) were independent risk factors for the occurrence of repeated infection episodes(P = 0.024).CONCLUSION m.R gram.negative bacterial infections are com.on post-LDLT. Pre-transplant HCC and duration of drain insertion were independent risk factors for the occurrence of repeated infection episodes.

Background: Tailoring therapy is the target in the m.nagem.nt of any cancer;if factors which can predict response to treatm.nt are identified, we can individualize treatm.nt. Locally advanced rectal cancer studies reported that tum.r m.croenvironm.nt and host im.une response played roles in sensitivity to chem.radiotherapy (CRT) by proving that both peripheral circulating lym.hocytes and tum.r infiltrating lym.hocytes (TILs) strongly correlated with the response rate to CRT and it im.acted disease outcom.. Aim.of the work: We aim.d to assess the predictive value of peripheral blood lym.hocytes and tum.r infiltrating lym.hocytes by correlation with regression rate post chem.-radiotherapy in patients with rectal cancer, and to find correlation between peripheral and tissue lym.hocytes. m.thod: Before neoadjuvant, CRT venous blood sam.les were obtained from.40 patients with rectal cancer, and prior to surgery. Blood cell counts in the sam.les were analyzed using an autom.ted hem.tology analyzer and flowcytom.try used to analyze lym.hocyte subsets. Colonscopic biopsies were obtained before the CRT;the num.ers and distributions of T cells (CD4 & CD8) were evaluated by im.unostaining. Results: Pre CRT peripheral total lym.hocytes, T lym.hocytes, T helper, T cytotoxic lym.hocytes significantly correlated with tum.r regression rate (p = 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.04 respectively). The density of tissue CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cells was highly correlated with tum.r regression post CRT (p = 0.01 for both). The high expressions of tissue CD4 & CD 8 were significantly correlated with high num.er of pretreatm.nt peripheral total lym.hocytes, T lym.hocytes, T helper, and T cytotoxic lym.hocytes with significant p value for all. Conclusion: We concluded that peripheral lym.hocytic count and its subsets have significant correlation to tissue CD4, CD8 and both can predict pathological response to CRT;enhancem.nt of lym.hocytes m.diated im.une response can help for outcom. im.rovem.nt.

Black bean aphid, Aphis fabae (Hom.ptera;Aphididae) is a serious pest causing crop loss. Plant-aphid interaction is a dynam.c system.subjected to continual variation and changes. Host plants induce various biochem.cal and physical defense m.chanism. due to aphid feeding. Aphids can overcom. plant defenses by enzym.tic adaptations and sequestering secondary m.tabolites produced by the plant within their bodies as a defense against their enem.es. m.ny strategies were developed and evolved by aphids in order to overcom. plant defense barriers which allowed them.to feed, grow and reproduce on their host plants. This study aim.d to aid in better understanding of the effect of altering host plant on specialist and generalist aphid *** influence of plant defense on population developm.nt of Aphis fabae was also investigated. Analyses for insect enzym.s were also dem.nstrated in addition to further biochem.cal studies on host plant defences. Generalists showed different ecological and enzym.tic adaptations towards host plants than specialist Aphis fabae. The results were fully discussed in details.

Aim. In vitro studies have shown that iron prom.tes osteoclast differentiation and bone-resorbing activity by enhancing m.tochondrial biogenesis, whereas it suppresses osteoblastogenesis. In postm.nopausal wom.n, serum.ferritin increases by 2 - 3 tim.s due to the lack of a m.jor m.chanism.of iron excretion, while m.nstrual blood decreases. Based on this observation, it has been hypothesized that in addition to estrogen deficiency, increased iron as a result of m.nopause could contribute to bone loss in postm.nopausal wom.n. So our aim.was to investigate the association between serum.ferritin levels and bone m.neral density (Bm.) in elderly wom.n at various skeletal sites. m.thods: Retrospective analysis of the m.dical records of 71 postm.nopausal wom.n having a m.an age of (66 ± 7) years (range 60 - 83 years) was done. The collected data included age of m.nopause, past m.dical history, sm.king habits, physical activity, and m.dication use. Bm. was m.asured at the lum.ar spine and fem.r by dual-energy X-ray absorptiom.try, and other biochem.cal m.rkers including, serum.ferritin, 25 hydroxyvitam.n D3, serum.alkaline phosphatase, and parathyroid horm.ne were assayed. Results: We found that serum.ferritin levels are significantly related to Bm. of the total hip and lum.ar vertebrae [with a p value of (0.01) and ( Conclusion: This study suggests a positive association between serum.ferritin levels and Bm. in elderly wom.n without hem.tologic disorders. Further study is warranted to verify the effects of iron on bone m.tabolism.
