Right coronary occlusion following transcatheter aortic valve implantation： two case reports

This paper discusses two male patients with severe aortic stenosis, whose right coronary arteries （RCA） were completely occluded during transcatheter aortic valve implantation （TAVI）, leading to fatal hemodynamic disorder. Occlusions of RCA complicated by TAVI are rare. In addition, emergency cardiopulmonary bypass （CPB） played a critical role in rescuing our second patient. Both patients were admitted for ＂severe aortic stenosis,＂ and TAVIs were performed. The first patient＇s blood pressure immediately dropped to 70/40 mmHg after the balloon expansion and did not increase much after the administration of aramine or fluid therapy. He did not receive emergency surgery and died after 1.5 h of resuscitation. The second patient＇s blood pressure fluctuated greatly for several minutes after the valve implantation, ranging from 170/100 mmHg to 60/40 mmHg. Angiography revealed a total occlusion of RCA. Thoracic surgery with CPB was performed, and the patient survived.

An ultra-thin and broadband absorber which consists of periodic rings with gaps is proposed in this paper. The periodic rings are printed on the middle metallic layers in a four-layer substrate of total thickness is only 3.4 mm. Simulation results, which are gotten by using finite element method(FEM) and finite-difference time-domain(FDTD), show that the absorption is higher than 90% cover the frequencies range from 7.8 GHz to 22.2 GHz. The measurement results of the absorption agree with simulated ones very well. We also discuss the working mechanism according to the anti-reflection theory in the paper.

Acupuncture has recently gained popularity in many countries as an alternative and complementary therapeutic intervention. Previous studies have shown that changes in genes, proteins, and their metabolites were measureable during acupuncture for treatment of cerebral ischemia. Through the use of in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry, the present study confirmed that electroacupuncture increased insulin-like growth factor-1 mRNA and protein expression in the corpus stfiatum following cerebral ischemia, reduced brain edema following middle cerebral artery occlusion reperfusion, and decreased infarct volume. Results suggested that electroacupuncture is effective in the relief of cerebral ischemia by increasing endogenous insulin-like growth factor-1 expression.

The structures of the nuclei on the alpha-decay chain of ^194Rn are investigated in the deformed relativistic mean-field theory with the effective interaction TMA. We put an emphasis on the ground state properties of ^194Rn. The calculated alpha-decay energies and lifetimes are both very close to the experimental data for ^186Pb and ^190Po. For ^194Rn, the deviations are a little large on both the alpha-decay energy and the lifetime. We also calculate the alpha-decay energies for the isotopes 192～208^Rn. The tendency for the change of the alpha-decay energies with neutron number is correctly reproduced in the relativistic mean-field theory （RMF）. In general, the RMF theory can give a good description of the alpha decay chain of ^194Rn.

Peptide (Gly-Asp-Ala-Lys-Gly)(2)>Lys-OH was liberated with high yield(92.1%) and excellent purity(91.6%) from its protected peptidyl nitro-resin precursor by a new orthorgonal protocol: 1) Hi-TFMSA, 2) 0.2N NaOH/90% EtOH.

A novel electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensing approach was developed for glucose detection based on crosslinking Ru(bpy)3Cl2-doped silica nanoparticles (RuSiNPs) with glucose dehydrogenase on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Glutaral- dehyde and aminopropyltrimethoxysilane were used as linking agents, and chitosan was used to immobilize the composites onto the GCE surface. The ECL sensor presented good characteristics in terms of stability and reproducibility. Under opti- mized conditions, the linear response of ECL intensity to glucose concentration was valid in the range of 0.2 to 20 mmol/L (R2 = 0.9962). The application results indicated that the proposed approach is with great potential in the determination of glucose.
