Cascade two-stage tumor re-oxygenation and immune re-sensitization mediated by self-assembled albumin-sorafenib nanoparticles for enhanced photodynamic immunotherapy

As a promising modality for cancer therapy, photodynamic therapy(PDT) still acquired limited success in clinical nowadays due to the extremely serious hypoxia and immunosuppression tumor microenvironment. To ameliorate such a situation, we rationally designed and prepared cascade two-stage re-oxygenation and immune re-sensitization BSA-MHI148@SRF nanoparticles via hydrophilic and hydrophobic self-assembly strategy by using near-infrared photodynamic dye MHI148 chemically modified bovine serum albumin(BSA-MHI148) and multi-kinase inhibitor Sorafenib(SRF) as a novel tumor oxygen and immune microenvironment regulation drug. Benefiting from the accumulation of SRF in tumors, BSA-MHI148@SRF nanoparticles dramatically enhanced the PDT efficacy by promoting cascade two-stage tumor re-oxygenation mechanisms:(i) SRF decreased tumor oxygen consumption via inhibiting mitochondria respiratory.(ii) SRF increased the oxygen supply via inducing tumor vessel normalization. Meanwhile, the immunosuppression micro-environment was also obviously reversed by two-stage immune re-sensitization as follows:(i) Enhanced immunogenic cell death(ICD) production amplified by BSA-MHI148@SRF induced reactive oxygen species(ROS) generation enhanced T cell infiltration and improve its tumor cell killing ability.(ii) BSA-MHI148@SRF amplified tumor vessel normalization by VEGF inhibition also obviously reversed the tumor immune-suppression microenvironment. Finally, the growth of solid tumors was significantly depressed by such well-designed BSAMHI148@SRF nanoparticles, which could be potential for clinical cancer therapy.

Enhanced sampling in molecular dynamics simulations and their latest applications--A review

Molecular dynamics(MD)simulations are capable of reproducing dynamic evolution at the molecular scale,but are limited by temporal scales.Enhanced sampling has emerged as a powerful tool to improve sampling efficiency,thereby extending the simulation timescales of a range of simulation studies in materials,chemistry,biology,nanoscience,and related fields.Here,we provide a systematic overview of established enhanced sampling methods and clarify the principles and interconnections between these methods.Furthermore,we categorically elaborate on the state-of-the-art applications of enhanced sampling in the last five years.Through these exemplified applications,we discuss the unique advantages of this technique,showing the prospects and challenges for its future development.This review could help researchers in different fields gain a comprehensive understanding of the enhanced sampling technique,and jointly facilitate its application and advancement.

1 Introducti on Spray and combustion characteristics of an oxidantcentered liquid oxygen/liquid methane(LOX/LCH_(4))pintle injector under different momentum ratio control modes are studied by numerical simulation.Results show a high total momentum ratio(TMR)can be good for boosting overall combustion efficiency.Either an increase in LOX injection pressure drop or a reduction in LCH_(4) pressure drop can increase the TMR and promote the diffusion of the high-temperature zone along the length direction of the combustion chamber.

Scaling Behaviors of Polymers on Lipid Membranes:Coupling of Polymer Chain Dynamics and Surface Thermal Fluctuations

Despite extensive researches on the motion of polymer chains on lipid membranes,the effect of membrane fluctuations on polymer chain dynamics remains poorly understood.Here we report single molecule tracking experiments that allow for comparable measurements of polymer chain diffusion dynamics on nanotubular and planar phospholipid membranes.We observe a super-diffusion behavior and no apparent chain-length-dependent mobility of polymer chains on nanotubular membranes,while a Brownian motion and apparent chain-lengthdependent mobility of polymer chains on planar membranes.We suggest the super-diffusion nature of polymer chains may be due to the thermal-fluctuations of lipid nanotubes,which can be described from a statistical thermodynamic phenomenon coupling of polymer chain dynamics and surface thermal fluctuations.We suggest that the existence of surface environment fluctuations should influence the dynamics of the adsorbed polymer chains.This study provides previously uncharacterized insights into polymer diffusion dynamics on thermal-fluctuating flexible surfaces,which is essential to understanding the effect of environment fluctuations on polymer chain behaviors.

Research Progress on Bionic Water Strider Robots

Biological water striders have advantages such as flexible movement,low disturbance to the water surface,and low noise.Researchers have developed a large number of biomimetic water strider robots based on their movement mechanism,which have broad application prospects in water quality testing,water surface reconnaissance,and search.This article mainly reviews the research progress of biomimetic water strider robots.First,the biological and kinematic characteristics of water striders are outlined,and some mechanical parameters of biological water striders are summarized.The basic equations of water strider movement are then described.Next,an overview is given of the past and current work on skating and jumping movements of biomimetic water strider robots based on surface tension and water pressure dominance.Based on the current research status of biomimetic water strider robots,the shortcomings of current research on biomimetic water striders are summarized,and the future development of biomimetic water strider robots is discussed.This article provides new insights for the design of biomimetic water strider robots.

In this paper,we consider the derivatives of intersection local time for two independent d-dimensional symmetricα-stable processes X^(α) and X^(α)with respective indices α and α.We first study the sufficient condition for the existence of the derivatives,which makes us obtain the exponential integrability and H?lder continuity.Then we show that this condition is also necessary for the existence of derivatives of intersection local time at the origin.Moreover,we also study the power variation of the derivatives.

Liquid Crystalline Polymers

History of Liquid Crystalline PolymersThe liquid crystalline(LC)state was first observed by Austrian botanist and chemist F.Reinitzer more than a century ago,and it was then confirmed in 1888 by German physicist O.Lehmann who named such a state of matter as"liquid crystal"in 1900.While low molecular mass(LMM)liquid crystals were successfully used in LC displays(LCDs),the development of LC polymers(LCPs)followed an independent path.Conceptually,LCPs are prepared with the incorporation of mesogenic groups that are responsible for the formation of LC mesophases,such as rod-like(calamitic)and discotic ones,into polymer chains.Depending on where the mesogens are attached,traditionally there are three major categories of LCPs.Main-chain LCPs(MCLCPs)have mesogens in the polymer backbone,while mesogens of side-chain LCPs(SCLCPs)are incorporated as side groups in a polymer with a relatively flexible main chain.In main-chain/side-chain combined LCPs(MCSCLCPs),mesogens are in both the backbone and side chains.Other classes of LCPs include mesogenjacketed LCPs(MJLCPs),dendronized LCPs,and LC networks(LCNs).

Consecutive narrow and broad quasi-periodic fast-propagating wave trains associated with a flare

The excitation mechanism of coronal quasi-period fast-propagating(QFP)wave trains remains unresolved.Using Atmospheric Imaging Assembly onboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory observations,we study a narrow and a broad QFP wave trains excited one after another during the successive eruptions of filaments hosted within a fan-spine magnetic system on October 20,2013.The consecutive occurrence of these two types of QFP wave trains in the same event provides an excellent opportunity to explore their excitation mechanisms and compare their physical parameters.Our observational results reveal that narrow and broad QFP wave trains exhibit distinct speeds,periods,energy fluxes,and relative intensity amplitudes,although originating from the same active region and being associated with the same GOES C2.9 flare.Using wavelet analysis,we find that the narrow QFP wave train shares a similar period with the flare itself,suggesting its possible excitation through the pulsed energy release in the magnetic reconnection process that generated the accompanying flare.On the other hand,the broad QFP wave train appears to be associated with the energy pulses released by the successive expansion and unwinding of filament threads.Additionally,it is plausible that the broad QFP wave train was also excited by the sequential stretching of closed magnetic field lines driven by the erupting filament.These findings shed light on the different excitation mechanisms and origins of the QFP wave trains.
