Systematic screening procedure and innovative energy-saving design for ionic liquid-based extractive distillation process

In the traditional extractive distillation process,organic solvents are often used as entrainers.However,environmental influence and high energy-consumption are significant problems in industrial application.In this study,a systematic screening strategy and innovative energy-saving design for ionic liquid-based extractive distillation process was proposed.The innovative energy-saving design focused on the binary minimum azeotrope mixtures isopropanol and water.Miscibility,environmental impact and physical properties(e.g.,melting point and viscosity)of 30 ionic liquids were investigated.1-Ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium dicyanamide and 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium dicyanamide were selected as candidate entrainers.Feasibility analysis of these two ionic liquids was further performed via residue curve maps,isovolatility line and temperature profiles.An innovative ionic liquid-based extractive distillation process combining distillation column and stripping column was designed and optimized with the objective function of minimizing the total annualized cost.The results demonstrate that the total annualized cost was reduced by 19.9%with 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium dicyanamide as the entrainer and by 24.3%with 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium dicyanamide,compared with that of dimethyl sulfoxide.The method proposed in this study is conducive to the green and sustainable development of extractive distillation process.

Endoscopic therapy for inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)or IBD surgery-associated complications or namely interventional IBD has become the main treatment modality for Crohn’s disease,bridging medical and surgical treatments.Currently,the main applications of interventional IBD are(i)strictures;(ii)fistulas and abscesses;(iii)bleeding lesions,bezoars,foreign bodies,and polyps;(iv)post-operative complications such as acute and chronic anastomotic leaks;and(v)colitis-associated neoplasia.The endoscopic treatment modalities include balloon dilation,stricturotomy,strictureplasty,fistulotomy,incision and drainage(of fistula and abscess),sinusotomy,septectomy,banding ligation,clipping,polypectomy,endoscopic mucosal resection,and endoscopic submucosal dissection.The field of interventional IBD is evolving with a better understanding of the underlying disease process,advances in endoscopic technology,and interest and proper training of next-generation IBD interventionalists.

In this paper we study the existence of nontrivial solutions to the well-known Brezis–Nirenberg problem involving the fractional p-Laplace operator in unbounded cylinder type domains.By means of the fractional Poincaréinequality in unbounded cylindrical domains,we first study the asymptotic property of the first eigenvalueλp,s(ωδ)with respect to the domainωδ.Then,by applying the concentration-compactness principle for fractional Sobolev spaces in unbounded domains,we prove the existence results.The present work complements the results of Mosconi–Perera–Squassina–Yang[The Brezis–Nirenberg problem for the fractional p-Laplacian.C alc.Var.Partial Differential Equations,55(4),25 pp.2016]to unbounded domains and extends the classical Brezis–Nirenberg type results of Ramos–Wang–Willem[Positive solutions for elliptic equations with critical growth in unbounded domains.In:Chapman Hall/CRC Press,Boca Raton,2000,192–199]to the fractional p-Laplacian setting.

Retelling extraction is an important branch of Natural Language Processing(NLP),and high-quality retelling resources are very helpful to improve the performance of machine translation.However,traditional methods based on the bilingual parallel corpus often ignore the document background in the process of retelling acquisition and application.In order to solve this problem,we introduce topic model information into the translation mode and propose a topic-based statistical machine translation method to improve the translation performance.In this method,Probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis(PLSA)is used to obtains the co-occurrence relationship between words and documents by the hybrid matrix decomposition.Then we design a decoder to simplify the decoding process.Experiments show that the proposed method can effectively improve the accuracy of translation.

The synergistic pyrolysis has been increasingly used for recycling spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)and organic wastes(hydrogen and carbon sources),which are in-situ transformed into various reducing agents such as H_(2),CO,and char via carbothermal and/or gas thermal reduction.Compared with the conventional roasting methods,this“killing two birds with one stone”strategy can not only reduce the cost and energy consumption,but also realize the valorization of organic wastes.This paper concluded the research progress in synergistic pyrolysis recycling of spent LIBs and organic wastes.On the one hand,valued metals such as Li,Co,Ni,and Mn can be recovered through the pyrolysis of the cathode materials with inherent organic materials(e.g.,separator,electrolyte)or graphite anode.During the pyrolysis process,the organic materials are decomposed into char and gases(e.g.,CO,H_(2),and CH_(4))as reducing agents,while the cathode material is decomposed and then converted into Li_(2)CO_(3) and low-valent transition metals or their oxides via in-situ thermal reduction.The formed Li_(2)CO_(3) can be easily recovered by the water leaching process,while the formed transition metals or their oxides(e.g.,Co,CoO,Ni,MnO,etc.)can be recovered by the reductant-free acid leaching or magnetic separation process.On the other hand,organic wastes(e.g.,biomass,plastics,etc.)as abundant hydrogen and carbon sources can be converted into gas(e.g.,H_(2),CO,etc.)and char via pyrolysis.The cathode materials are decomposed and subsequently reduced by the pyrolysis gas and char.In addition,the pyrolysis oil and gas can be upgraded by catalytic reforming with the active metals derived from cathode material.Finally,great challenges are proposed to promote this promising technology in the industrial applications.

In this paper,we establish a unilateral global bifurcation result from interval for a class problem with mean curvature operator in Minkowski space with non-differentiable nonlinearity.As applications of the above result,we shall prove the existence of one-sign solutions to the following problem{−div(√∇v 1−|∇v|^(2))=α(x)v^(+)+β(x)v^(−)+λa(x)f(v),in B_(R)(0),v(x)=0,on∂B_(R)(0),whereλ≠=0 is a parameter,R is a positive constant and BR(0)={x∈RN:|x|0 for s≠=0,and f_(0)∈[0,∞],where f0=lim_(|s|)→0 f(s)/s.We use unilateral global bifurcation techniques and the approximation of connected components to prove our main results.We also study the asymptotic behaviors of positive radial solutions asλ→+∞.

Non-equilibrium thermodynamics theory is used to analyze the transmembrane heat and moisture transfer process,which can be observed in a membrane-type total heat exchanger(THX).A theoretical model is developed to simulate the coupled heat and mass transfer across a membrane,total coupling equations and the expressions for the four characteristic parameters including the heat transfer coefficient,molardriven heat transfer coefficient,thermal-driven mass transfer coefficient,and mass transfer coefficient are derived and provided,with the Onsager’s reciprocal relation being confirmed to verify the rationality of the model.Calculations are conducted to investigate the effects of the membrane property and air state on the coupling transport process.The results show that the four characteristic parameters directly affect the transmembrane heat and mass fluxes:the heat and mass transfer coefficients are both positive,meaning that the temperature difference has a positive contribution to the heat transfer and the humidity ratio difference has a positive contribution to the mass transfer.The molar-driven heat transfer and thermal-driven mass transfer coefficients are both negative,implying that the humidity ratio difference acts to reduce the heat transfer and the temperature difference works to diminish the mass transfer.The mass transfer affects the heat transfer by 1%–2%while the heat transfer influences the mass transfer by7%–14%.The entropy generation caused by the temperature difference-induced heat transfer is much larger than that by the humidity difference-induced mass transfer.

We study a supply chain in which an original equipment manufacturer(OEM)outsources manufacturing functions to a contract manufacturer(CM)for cost saving.In addition to accepting the OEM's order,the CM can develop self-branded products and enter the end-market.Because of the OEM's well-known brand and long-term good reputation,we take the asymmetric customer loyalty into consideration-a fraction of customers are loyal customers(LCs)who only consider buying the product from the OEM,while other customers in the market are non-loyal customers(NCs)who might switch to purchasing the CM7s product because of the lower selling price.We explore whether the CM will enter the end-market and if so,what is the impact of the market entry on the OEM and the entire supply chain.Counterintuitively,we find that there will be no market entry when the CM is relatively strong,i.e.,the CM is able to provide self-branded products with relatively high acceptance and the CM has a relatively large bargaining power.In addition,when the NC segment is an important profit source for the OEM,i.e.,the NCs7 market size is relatively large and their willingness-to-pay is relatively high,the market entry will not occur,either.The OEM's profit is always hurt by the CM's market entry unless the OEM always only sells the product to the LCs,while the supply chain sometimes can get benefit.Through numerical simulations,we reveal the relationships between the profit change of different parties and the key parameters,such as the relative willingness-to-pay and market sizes of two types of customers,the CMrs bargaining power and the acceptance of the CMrs product,when the market entry becomes an available option for the CM.The impact of production cost difference on the market entry decision and profit changes is also analyzed in the extension when producing the OEM's product is more costly for the CM than producing the self-branded product.

It is extremely dangerous to treat the posterior third of the superior sagittal sinus (PTSSS) surgically, since it is usually not completely ligated. In this report, the authors described the case of a 27-year-old man with a ruptured and defective PTSSS caused by an open depressed skull fracture, which was treated by ligation of the PTSSS and the patient achieved a positive recovery. The patient's occiput was hit by a height-limiting rod and was in a mild coma. A CT scan showed an open depressed skull fracture overlying the PTSSS and a diffuse brain swelling. He underwent emergency surgery. When the skull fragments were removed, a 4 cm segment of the superior sagittal sinus (SSS) and the adjacent dura mater were removed together with bone fragments. Haemorrhage occurred and blood pressure dropped. We completed the operation by ligating the severed ends of the fractured sagittal sinus. One month after the operation, apart from visual field defects, he recovered well. In our opinion, in primary hospitals, when patients with severely injured PTSSS cannot sustain a long-time and complicated operation, e.g., the bypass using venous graft, and face life-threatening conditions, ligation of the PTSSS is another option, which may unexpectedly achieve good results.
