Chronic diabetic wounds confront a significant medical challenge because of increasing prevalence and difficult-healing *** is vital to develop multifunctional hydrogel dressings,with well-designed morphology and structure to enhance flexibility and effectiveness in wound *** achieve these,we propose a self-healing hydrogel dressing based on structural color microspheres for wound *** microsphere comprised a photothermal-responsive inverse opal framework,which was constructed by hyaluronic acid methacryloyl,silk fibroin methacryloyl and black phosphorus quantum dots(BPQDs),and was further re-filled with a dynamic *** dynamic hydrogel filler was formed by Knoevenagel condensation reaction between cyanoacetate and benzaldehyde-functionalized dextran(DEX-CA and DEX-BA).Notably,the composite microspheres can be applied arbitrarily,and they can adhere together upon near-infrared irradiation by leveraging the BPQDs-mediated photothermal effect and the thermoreversible stiffness change of dynamic ***,eumenitin and vascular endothelial growth factor were co-loaded in the microspheres and their release behavior can be regulated by the same ***,effective monitoring of the drug release process can be achieved through visual color *** microsphere system has demonstrated desired capabilities of controllable drug release and efficient wound *** characteristics suggest broad prospects for the proposed composite microspheres in clinical applications.

Solid oral controlled release formulations feature numerous clinical advantages for drug candidates with adequate solubility and dissolution ***,most new chemical entities exhibit poor water solubility,and hence are exempt from such *** combining drug amorphization with controlled release formulation is promising to elevate drug solubility,like other supersaturating systems,the problem of drug recrystallization has yet to be resolved,particularly within the dosage ***,we explored the potential of an emerging,non-leachable terpolymer nanoparticle(TPN)pore former as an internal recrystallization inhibitor within controlled release amorphous solid dispersion(CRASD)beads comprising a poorly soluble drug(celecoxib)reservoir and insoluble polymer(ethylcellulose)*** to conventional pore former,polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP),TPN-containing membranes exhibited superior structural integrity,less crystal formation at the CRASD bead surface,and greater extent of celecoxib ***-atom molecular dynamics analyses revealed that in the presence of TPN,intra-molecular bonding,crystal formation tendency,diffusion coefficient,and molecular flexibility of celecoxib were reduced,while intermolecular H-bonding was increased as compared to *** work suggests that selection of a pore former that promotes prolonged molecular separation within a nanoporous controlled release membrane structure may serve as an effective strategy to enhance amorphicity preservation inside CRASD.

Objectives:To share a concept analysis of social movement aimed at advancing its application to evidence uptake and sustainability in ***:We applied Walker and Avant method to clarify the concept of social movement in the context of knowledge uptake and ***-reviewed and grey literature databases were systematically searched for relevant reports that described how social movement action led to evidence-based practice changes in health and community ***,abstracts and full texts were reviewed independently and in duplicate,resulting in 38 included ***:Social movement action for knowledge uptake and sustainability can be defined as individuals,groups,or organizations that,as voluntary and intrinsically motivated change agents,mobilize around a common cause to improve outcomes through knowledge uptake and *** 10 defining attributes,three antecedents and three consequences that we identified are dynamic and interrelated,often mutually reinforcing each other to fortify various aspects of the social *** of defining attributes include an urgent need for action,collective action and collective *** concept analysis resulted in the development of the Social Movement Action ***:Social movement action can provide a lens through which we view implementation *** action and collective identity e concepts less frequently canvassed in implementation science literature e can lend insight into grassroots approaches to uptake and *** can also inform providers and change leaders on the practicalities of harnessing social movement action for realworld change *** mobilizing individuals,groups,or organizations through social movement approaches,they can engage as powered change agents and teams that impact the individual,organizational and health systems levels to facilitate knowledge uptake and sustainability.

Effects of soil metal(loid)s pollution on microbial activities and environmental risks in an abandoned chemical smelting site

Abandoned chemical smelting sites containing toxic substances can seriously threaten and pose a risk to the surrounding ecological *** samples were collected from different depths(0 to 13 m)and analyzed for metal(loid)s content and fractionation,as well as microbial *** potential ecological risk indices for the different soil depths(ordered from high to low)were:1 m(D-1)>surface(S-0)>5 m(D-5)>13 m(D-13)>9 m(D-9),ranging between 1840.65-13,089.62,and representing extremely high environmental risks,of which Cd(and probably not arsenic)contributed to the highest environmental risk.A modified combined pollution risk index(MCR)combining total content and mobile proportion of metal(loid)s,and relative toxicities,was used to evaluate the degree of contamination and potential environmental *** the near-surface samples(S-0 and D-1 layers),the MCR considered that As,Cd,Pb,Sb,and Zn achieved high and alarming degrees of contamination,whereas Fe,Mn,and Ti were negligible or low to moderate pollution *** microcalorimetry and enzymatic activity measurements of contaminated soil samples were used to assess the microbial metabolic activity *** analysis elucidated the relationship between metal(loid)s exchangeable fraction or content and microbial activity characteristics(plic activity in the D-1 layer was low presumably due to heavy metal *** activity indicators and microcalorimetric growth rate(k)measurements were considered sensitive indicators to reflect the soil microbial activities in abandoned chemical smelting sites.

Numerous studies dated glacial deposits within the Himalayan-Tibetan *** most focus on young deposits,i.e.,younger than the Last Glacial Maximum(LGM or Marine oxygen Isotope Stage(MIS)-2,~20 ka),older moraines such as those from MIS-6(~130–191 ka)are much harder to date and interpret due to the less well-preserved nature of their surfaces and boulders,as well as their scattered and continuous age distribution due to long-lived erosion since ***,we dated with~(10)Be,two imbricated moraines near Yadong in southern Tibet,as MIS-2 and 6,showing that the most extensive,smooth surfaces were abandoned during *** published data from 54 MIS-6 moraines on the Tibetan Plateau reveals that they exist in most regions,dry or *** are particularly well-preserved(sharp crests)in eastern and northern Tibet,while in southern and central Tibet,their crests are rounded to *** both MIS-2 and 6 were equally cold,and because MIS-6 moraines are much more extensive than those from the LGM,we conclude that MIS-6 glacial advances were controlled by more abundant precipitation than during *** would be consistent with the peak in Asian monsoon during MIS-6,revealed by sediments from the South China Sea.

Pheromone 3kPZS evokes context-dependent serotonin sexual dimorphism in the brain of the sea lamprey (Petromyzon marinus)

Mature male sea lampreys(Petromyzon marinus)release a sex pheromone,3-keto-petromyzonol sulfate(3kPZS),that induces sexually dimorphic behavioral responses in ***,the neural mechanism of such responses is mostly *** examined the neurotransmitter serotonin(5-hydroxytryptamine,5-HT)and the expression of 5-HT1A receptors in the forebrain and brainstem of sea lamprey exposed to the vehicle(0.91 ppm methanol)or 10−10 M 3kPZS for 2 h using high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry,immunohistochemistry and real-time quantitative polymerase chain *** to 3kPZS for 2 h increased 5-HT concentration in the forebrain of adult females,whereas 5-HT was not detected in the forebrain of adult *** the contrary,3kPZS exposure decreased 5-HT concentration in the brainstem of adult females and had no effect in adult *** exposure evoked context-dependent sexual dimorphism in brain 5-HT1A receptor immunoreactivity,but had no effect on 5-HT1A mRNA concentrations in the brain with 2 h exposure *** appears that in sea lamprey pheromone 3kPZS affects the 5-HT system in the brain in a context-dependent,sexually dimorphic manner.

Characterization of Water Quality in Xiao Xingkai Lake:Implications for Trophic Status and Management

Increasing cases of lake eutrophication globally have raised concerns among stakeholders,and particularly in *** the causes of eutrophication in waterways is essential for effective pollution prevention and *** Xingkai Lake is part of and connected to Xingkai(Khanka)Lake,a boundary lake between China and *** this study,we investigated the spatio-temporal variabilities in water quality(i.e.,dissolved oxygen(DO),total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorus(TP),chemical oxygen demand(CODMn)and ammonium-nitrogen(NH4+-N))in Xiao Xingkai Lake,from 2012 to 2014,after which a Trophic Level Index was used to evaluate trophic status,in addition to the factors influencing water quality variation in the *** DO,TN,TP,CODMn and NH4+-N concentrations were 0.44-15.57,0.16-5.11,0.01-0.45,0.16-48.31,and 0.19-0.78 mg/L,*** to the Environmental Quality Standards for surface water(GB 3838-2002)in China,the lake transitioned to an oligotrophic status in 2013 and 2014 from a mesotrophic status in 2012,TN and TP concentrations were the key factors influencing water quality of Xiao Xingkai ***-para-metric test results showed that sampling time and sites had significant effects on water *** quality was worse in summer and in tourism and aquaculture areas,followed by agricultural drainage ***,lake water trophic status fluctuated between medium eutrophic and light eutrophic status from September 2012 to September 2014,and was negatively correlated with water *** quality in tourism and aquaculture sites were medium eutrophic,while in agricultural areas were light *** to the results,high water-level fluctuations and anthropogenic activities were the key factor driving variability in physicochemical parameters associated with water quality in Xiao Xingkai Lake.

Complementation and Expression Analysis of SoRablA and SoRab2A in Sugarcane Demonstrates Their Functional Diversification

Mammalian and plant Rabl and Rab2 are small GTPases that regulate vesicle trafficking in the endoplasmic reticulum （ER） to Golgi compartments. little is known about their functional diversification or potential interaction. We cloned sugarcane （Saccharum officinarum L.） Rab1A and Rab2A genes and studied their functional differences by expression and complementation experiments. We found differential expression of the two genes during sugarcane leaf development： SoRab2A expression declined from the dividing base to the maturing tip of the growing leaves, whereas SoRab1A was constitutively expressed, suggesting that SoRab2A is required for cell division and expansion and SoRablA is required for cells at all developmental stages. We used a yeast temperature sensitive ypt1-A 136D mutant strain to further investigate these shared and unique functions. Yptl is a small GTPase that regulates vesicle transport in the same cellular location as Rabl and Rab2. Neither SoRab1A nor SoRab2A alone could restore the growth of the mutant at restrictive temperatures when SoRab1A and SoRab2A were transformed separately. However, SoRab1A transformants maintained normal morphology and viability at non-permissive temperature, and resumed growth when returned to permissive temperature, whereas SoRab2A transformants died at non-permissive temperature, suggesting that SoRablA function is required for a cell＇s viability. Mutant growth was fully restored when SoRab1A and SoRab2A were co-transformed, indicating that SoRablA and SoRab2A complement each other and they both are needed to restore the function of ypt1-A136D. These results demonstrate that SoRab1A and SoRab2A serve distinct but overlapping functions, mostly by regulating the transportation of different sets of proteins.

Hospital inpatient complications and severity of illness

This study evaluated the severity of illness of patients experiencing inpatient hospital complications in two hospitals in the metropolitan area of Syracuse, New York. It involved identification of inpatient complications by All Patients Refined (APR) severity of illness for pneumonia, clostridium difficile colitis, and urinary tract infection. Severity of illness was identified for each patient at the time of admission. The study showed that patients at the two highest levels of severity of illness, Major and Extreme, accounted for 76-93 percent of those with the three complications evaluated. These patients comprised less than 40 percent of the inpatient populations of the hospitals. At the same time, the study showed that only 0-23 percent of patients at Minor or Moderate severity of illness experienced inpatient complications. These low severity of illness categories accounted for 60 percent or more of inpatients in the Syracuse hospitals. Results of the study suggested that efforts to reduce hospital inpatient complications could focus on those patients with high severity of illness. They also suggested that these efforts could largely avoid patients with low severity of illness and, as a result, save clinical and quality assurance resources in hospitals.
