Background Soil-transmitted helminths (STH) affect approximately 1.5 billion people globally. The current STH control strategy is annual or twice-annual preventive chemotherapy, typically school-based deworming targeting children and women of reproductive age. Mathematical modeling suggests that it may be possible to interrupt STH transmission through high-coverage community-wide mass drug administration (cMDA). DeWorm3 is a cluster randomized trial testing cMDA for prevalence reduction and transmission interruption. The purpose of this study is to describe coverage of cMDA in study clusters over time and correlates of coverage at individual and cluster *** From 2018-2020, DeWorm3 delivered six rounds of cMDA with 400 mg albendazole at sites in Benin, India, and Malawi. We report coverage, treatment uptake, and directly observed therapy across all rounds. Factors associated with coverage at the cluster level were identified using binomial generalized estimating equations, while factors associated with non-treatment at the individual level were identified using binomial mixed-effects *** Coverage was high across all clusters and rounds, exceeding the WHO target of 75% in all sites and across all rounds (78% to 95%); cluster-level coverage tended to increase over time. Younger, unmarried, and migratory adults were more likely to be untreated at all sites; adult males were more likely to be untreated in Benin and Malawi. Among children, girls were more likely to be untreated, as were non-school-attending and migratory children. Higher adult education was associated with greater odds of non-treatment among adults, but lower odds among children in the household. Production of carbide-free thin ductile iron castings

The fast cooling rate of thin ductile iron castings requires special consideration to produce carbide-free castings. Extraordinary care was taken to select the charge to produce castings of 100-mm long round bars with 16-mm diameter. The castings show the presence of carbides in the bars. Seven melts were made with different temperatures and with different compositions to get rid of carbides. After chemical analyses,it was found that the extra purity of the charge with less than 0.008wt% sulfur in the castings was the cause of carbides. To remove the carbides from the castings,sulfur should be added to the charge.

In vitro Selection for Fusarium Wilt Resistance in Gladiolus

Cormels pieces of four Fusarium susceptible Gladiolus cultivars （Friendship, Peter Pears, Victor Borge and Novalux） formed friable calli when cultured in vitro on Murashige and Skoog basal medium containing various concentrations of auxin and cytokinin. The friable calli established cell suspensions. Plantlet regeneration was obtained from the control callus, control cell suspension derived callus and in vitro selected Fusarium oxysporum Schlecht. resistant cell-lines of Friendship. The in vitro cormlets showed 85-95% germination after breaking dormancy of 8 weeks at 4℃. Cell suspensions of all four Gladiolus cultivars were found to be highly sensitive to fusaric acid. Gradual increase in fusaric acid concentrations to the cell-suspension cultures decreased cell growth considerably. One albino plant was found from the second generation of the in vitro selected cell line of Friendship. The albino plant was found to be highly susceptible to F. oxysporum. The cormlets of all in vitro selected cell lines of Friendship were inoculated with a conidial suspension of the F. oxysporum before planting and were also sprayed with the same spore suspension for further characterization when the height of plants was about 6cm. The four selected cell lines showed the same response whether or not they were inoculated with conidia of the F. oxysporum. Plantlets of all of the selected cell lines exhibited significant growth as compared with the control after application of conidia of the F. oxysporum.

The hedgehog pathway in breast cancer

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers around the world with approximately 1.6 million new cases and 425 thousand deaths from the disease in 2010 （1）. While early detection methods and treatment have continuously evolved and improved over the years, there is still a strong need to further understand the pathways and mechanisms that lead to and drive this malignancy with the ultimate goal being more personalized, less toxic treatment with improved survival and higher cure rates.

Effect of Lanthanum on Nodule Count and Nodularity of Ductile Iron

The present study aims at finding out the effect of the addition of a single rare earth element, that is, lanthanum on the nodularity and nodule count of ductile iron under controlled conditions. For this purpose, four melts with different compositions were made, using a 28 kg inductotherm medium frequency induction furnace. The temperature was carefully maintained between 1400 and 1450 ℃ for these heats. A good quality charge consisting of Sorel metal, ferrosilicon, Swedish iron, ferrosilicon magnesium, and ferrosilicon lanthanum was used for the production of melts. A vertically parted sand mould was used for casting of 10 test bars made from local silica sand. Standard coin samples were chill-cast to conduct chemical analysis of the ductile iron. Mierostructure study of the samples was conducted using a Leica optical microscope. Nodule count and nodularity of the samples were carried out using an image analyzer. The results obtained indicated that with the increased addition of lanthanum the nodule count of ductile iron increased, thus making it evident that it played a significant role in increasing the mechanical properties. The highest nodule count of 467 was obtained with the addition of 0.03% lanthanum. However, the effect of lanthanum on nodularity was negligible with nodularity ranging from 81% to 83 %.

The analytical lower bound of Spectral Efficiency(SE)of downlink transmission of the Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output(Ma-MIMO)system is *** this paper,we derive some novel and approximate mathematical expressions for the lower bound of the SE of a Ma-MIMO with linear precoding schemes,i.e.,Minimum Mean Square Error(MMSE)and Zero-Forcing(ZF).For simulation analysis of the SE,we consider three joint users and antenna scheduling algorithms,namely,the semi-orthogonal,random,and distance-based user scheduling algorithms,whereas the antennas are selected based on Maximum Signal to Noise Ratio(MSNR)with scheduled *** channel between the user and the transmitter is assumed to have characteristics of Small Scale Fading(SSF)and Large Scale Fading(LSF)with the Rayleigh fading *** investigate the effect of the variation of transmitting SNR,the number of base station antennas(M),and the radius(R)of the cell area on the *** simulate the downlink transmission of Ma-MIMO and compare the simulation and analytical *** is observed that the trends of variation of both results are similar to the variation of identical factors,and the difference between the simulated and analytical lower bounds of the SE is approximately 1-1.5 *** analytical lower bound is smaller than the simulation result.

Synthesizing and characterizing the magnetic EDTA/chitosan/CeZnO nanocomposite for simultaneous treating of chromium and phenol in an aqueous solution

A new magnetic nanocomposite chitosan/EDTA/CeZnO(MEC-CeZnO)is synthesized as an efficient and eco-friendly bio-compound for the removal of chromium Cr(VI)metal ions and phenol organic matters from aqueous *** are characterized using field emission scanning electron microscope,energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,transmission electron microscope,X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,diffuse reflection spectroscopy,and PL *** reduction rate of Cr(VI)ions and phenol degradation is evaluated under various experimental conditions,separately and *** average pore diameter and specific surface of MEC-CeZnO nanocomposite are obtained 50 nm and 210 m^(2)·g^(-1)respectively,which suggest the successful synthesis of the nanocomposite because of the increased surface area and reduced pores in comparison to previous ***,the best Cr(VI)and phenol reduction efficiencies are 98%and 92%at 180 min of retention time,both following the Langmuir-Hinshelwood first-order *** mechanisms of Cr(VI)and phenol removal from aqueous solutions involved Cr(VI)reduction,phenol oxidation,and *** the reusability of MEC-CeZnO showed that both degradation and recovery capacity is stable in 5 cycles.
