Dosimetric Analysis of Three Different Radiotherapy Techniques in Patients with Breast Cancer and Their Impact on Organs at Risk (OAR)

Aim: Dosimetric analysis of three different Radiotherapy techniques in patients with Breast Cancer and their impact on OAR’s. Materials and Methods: 12 patients of Carcinoma Breast who received breast radiotherapy were selected for analysis. Computed tomography (CT) simulation image data sets were retrieved. Planning target Volume (PTV), heart and ipsilateral lung were contoured for planning and analysis of doses. Three different plans using conventional bi-tangential fields were prepared, Plan 1 with SAD full beam with wedge (SAD-FBW), Plan 2 with SSD half beam with wedge (SSD-HBW) and plan 3 with SSD half beam without wedge techniques (SSD-HBO) in CMS Xio TPS. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS version 16.0. Results: The PTV coverage was significantly better in SAD-FBW techniques when compared with the other two techniques i.e. SSD-HBW (mean = 92.33, SD = 4.69, p = 0.005) and SSD-HBO (mean = 75.05, SD = 11.92, p = 0.002). The mean heart doses were significantly better in SAD-FBW compared to SSD-HBW (mean = 3.75, SD = 2.27, p = 0.017) but in SSD-HBO technique mean heart doses were better than SAD-FBW technique (mean = 3.27, SD = 1.94, p = 0.004). Similarly, the left lung V20 values were significantly better in SSD-HBO technique than SAD-FBW technique (mean = 11.75, SD = 4.34, p = 0.004) but there was statistically insignificant difference between the SAD-FBW and SSD-HBW techniques. The treatment monitor units were significantly less in SAD-FBW compared to SSD-HBW but SSD-HBO has less MU compared to SAD-FBW technique. Conclusion: SAD Full Beam with wedge technique is practically better than SSD Half Beam technique with or without wedge without compromising PTV coverage considering other dosimetric parameters. We also recommend that centers treating patient with half beam SSD techniques should shift immediately to SAD techniques.

Viability of a concentrated solar power system in a low sun belt prefecture

Concentrating solar power(CSP)is considered as a comparatively economical,more efficient,and large capacity type of renewable energy ***,CSP generation is found restricted only to high solar radiation belt and installed where high direct normal irradiance is *** paper examines the viability of the adoption of the CSP system in a low sun belt region with a lower direct normal irradiance(DNI).Various critical analyses and plant economics have been evaluated with a lesser DNI *** obtained results out of the designed system,subjected to low DNI are not found below par,but comparable to some extent with the performance results of such CSP plants at a higher *** analysis indicates that incorporation of the thermal energy storage reduces the levelized cost of energy(LCOE)and augments the plant capacity *** capacity factor,the plant efficiency,and the LCOE are found to be 32.50%,17.56%,and 0.1952$/kWh,respectively.

A survey of density based clustering algorithms

Density based clustering algorithms(DBCLAs)rely on the notion of density to identify clusters of arbitrary shapes,sizes with varying *** surveys on DB-CLAs cover only a selected set of *** surveys fail to provide an extensive information about a variety of DBCLAs proposed till date including a taxonomy of the *** this paper we present a comprehensive survey of various DB-CLAS over last two decades along with their *** group the DBCLAs in each of the four categories:density definition,parameter sensitivity,execution mode and nature of*data and further divide them into various classes under each of these *** addition,we compare the DBCLAs through their common features and variations in citation and conceptual *** identify various application areas of DBCLAS in domains such as astronomy,earth sciences,molecular biology,geography,*** survey also identifies probable future directions of DBCLAs where involvement of density based methods may lead to favorable results.

Accumulation of Polyphenolic Compounds and Osmolytes under Dehydration Stress and Their Implication in Redox Regulation in Four Indigenous Aromatic Rice Cultivars

Present work was undertaken to screen some drought tolerant indigenous aromatic rice cultivars(IARCs),commonly cultivated in West Bengal,India,based on their capacity to produce osmolytes,redox-sensitive phenolic acids and flavonoids,as contrivances for redox-regulation under drought *** glycol induced post imbibitional dehydration stress mediated changes in redox regulatory properties of the germinating seeds of the four IARCs(Jamainadu,Tulaipanji,Sitabhog,Badshabhog),which were assessed in terms of changes in prooxidant accumulation(in-situ localization of reactive oxygen species(ROS)by confocal microscopy,DCFDA(2′,7′-dichlorofluorescin diacetate)oxidation,O2-and H2O2 accumulation),cumulative antioxidative defense(radical scavenging property and total thiol content),ROS scavenging phenolic acids(gallic acid,protocatechuic acid,gentisic acid,para-hydroxy benzoic acid,chlorogenic acid,caffeic acid,syringic acid,salicylic acid,sinapic acid and p-coumaric acid)and flavonoids(catechin,naringin,rutin,quercetin,kaempferol,myricetin and apigenin).The capability of germinating seeds to accumulate osmolytes(like glycinebetaine,proline,soluble carbohydrates and K+ion)and polyphenolic compounds was also correlated with their corresponding redox status and redox biomarkers(conjugated diene,hydroperoxide,thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and free carbonyl content)produced under the same *** results in general showed that accumulation of osmolytes along with the redox-sensitive phenolics and flavonoids conferred the ability to maintain the redox homeostasis under drought stress for the tolerant IARCs(Badshabhog and Tulaipanji).

An HESS Based on a Modified MMCC-TSBC Converter Integrating Energy Storages

This paper presents a modified modular multilevel cascaded converter based on a triple star bridge cell(MMCCTSBC)for integrating different types of energy storage to form a hybrid energy storage system(HESS).The proposed HESS comprises battery energy storage,supercapacitor energy storage and a doubly-fed induction machine(DFIM)based variable speed pump storage(VSPS).Different low-rated energy storage units can be intermixed in this converter to form an *** is possible due to the modular structure of the modified converter and provides an advantage in a high-power energy storage *** validate the performance of HESS,real-time power variation data is accumulated from online sources and a weighted median filter(WMF)is employed for generating appropriate references for battery energy storage system(BESS)and supercapacitor storage to mitigate both low frequency and high-frequency power ***,the control approach permits independent regulation of grid current and DFIM current through the modified MMCC-TSBC *** simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the control scheme for the proposed HESS.

High-throughput quantitative approaches to study axon growth behaviors have remained a *** have developed a 1024-chamber microfluidic gradient generator array that enables large-scale investigations of axon guidance and growth dynamics from individual primary mammalian neurons,which are exposed to gradients of diffusible *** microfluidic method(a)generates statistically rich data sets,(b)produces a stable,reproducible gradient with negligible shear stresses on the culture surface,(c)is amenable to the long-term culture of primary neurons without any unconventional protocol,and(d)eliminates the confounding influence of cell-secreted *** this platform,we demonstrate that hippocampal axon guidance in response to a netrin-1 gradient is concentration-dependent—attractive at higher concentrations and repulsive at lower *** also show that the turning of the growth cone depends on the angle of incidence of the *** study highlights the potential of microfluidic devices in producing large amounts of data from morphogen and chemokine gradients that play essential roles not only in axonal navigation but also in stem cell differentiation,cell migration,and immune response.

Modeling and computation by artificial neural network of fracture toughness of low alloy steel to study the effect of alloy composition

The unpredictable structure failures of carbon steel and low alloy steel leading to accidents may be caused by the propagation of a flaw or crack already present in the *** toughness which describes the ability of a material containing a crack to resist fracture is one of the most important material properties for design applications of metallic *** this material property is influenced by several parameters,namely material chemistry,heat treatment,morphology of structure,it requires millions of experiments to be conducted to understand and predict ***,mathematical modeling is one of the solutions to find the effect of these parameters and design future ***–intensity factor(KIC)is a quantitative parameter of fracture toughness determining a maximum value of stress which may be applied to a specimen containing a crack(notch)of a certain *** artificial neural network(ANN)model was developed using over 100 sets of data to study the effect of alloying elements on fracture toughness,KIC for the low alloy steel.20%of data was used for training,60%to develop predictive model and rest of the 20%for *** model can predict the fracture toughness of unknown new data close to 80%accuracy which is good enough for statistical *** details of program code with ANN modeling steps have been *** of fracture toughness by the model with variation of alloy composition as well as yield stress gives interesting and important information which may help in designing alloy which will resist crack propagation in a structure and hence enhance the life of structure to fail.

Performance analysis of 20 nm gate-length In_(0:2)Al_(0:8)N/GaN HEMT with Cu-gate having a remarkable high I_(ON)/I_(OFF)ratio

： We propose a new structure of InxAll-xN/GaN high electron mobility transistor （HEMT） with gate length of 20 nm. The threshold voltage of this HEMT is achieved as -0.472 V. In this device the InA1N barrier layer is intentionally n-doped to boost the ION/IOFF ratio. The InAlN layer acts as donor barrier layer for this HEMT which exhibits an ION = 10-4.3 A and a very low IOFF = 10-14.4 A resulting in an ION/IoFF ratio of 1010.1. We compared our obtained results with the conventional InAlN/GaN HEMT device having undoped barrier and found that the proposed device has almost l0s times better ION/IOFF ratio. Further, the mobility analysis in GaN channel of this proposed HEMT structure along with DC analysis, C-V and conductance characteristics by using small-signal analysis are also presented in this paper. Moreover, the shifts in threshold voltage by DIBL effect and gate leakage current in the proposed HEMT are also discussed. InAlN was chosen as the most preferred barrier layer as a replacement of AlGaN for its excellent thermal conductivity and very good scalability.

Sol-Gel Preparation and Luminescence Properties of BaMgAl_(10)O_(17):Eu^(2+) Phosphors

The synthesis of BaMgAl10O17： Eu^2＋（BAM） phosphors using the sol-gel method and their luminescence properties were reported. The blue-light emitting BAM was synthesized using citric acid and ethylene glycol as chelating materials. Emission of blue-light was obtained from these phosphors. The luminescent intensity increases as the temperature of heat treatment is increased, This study investigated the effects of the molar ratio of ethylene glycol to citric acid （Ф value）, with respect to the phase formation and luminescence properties of BAM. The variation of the Фvalue resulted in the change of the sol-gel reaction mechanism and the microstructures of the resultant powders. An increase in Фvalue leads to an increase in the rate of BAM phase formation. The photoluminescent intensity of the prepared phosphors increases with heating temperatures because of enhanced crystallization.
