Production of hydrogen and biodies.l to indus.rial s.ale with low cos. techniques.can pave way for their efficient us. in engine applications. In view of this. an attempt has.been made to operate a modified dies.l engine on thes. high potential renewable fuel combinations. An experimental s.udy was.carried out to evaluate the performance, combus.ion and emis.ion characteris.ics.of dies.l engine operated in dual fuel (DF) mode fuelled with es.ers.of honne (EHNO), honge (EHO) oils.and hydrogen induction. The s.udy revealed that the brake thermal efficiency increas.d up to 20% hydrogen energy ratio (HER) and then it decreas.d. The emis.ions.s.ch as.hydrocarbon (HC), Carbon monoxide (CO) and s.oke decreas.d with HER while oxides.of nitrogen (NOx) increas.d. The combus.ion parameters.like peak pres.ure, ignition delay and heat releas. rate (HRR) increas.d with HER.

Heat trans.er and entropy generation analys.s.of non-Newtonian fluid flow through vertical microchannel with convective boundary condition

The entropy generation and heat trans.er characteris.ics.of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) third-grade fluid flow through a vertical porous.microchannel with a convective boundary condition are analyzed. Entropy generation due to flow of MHD non-Newtonian third-grade fluid within a microchannel and temperature-dependent vis.os.ty is.s.udied us.ng the entropy generation rate and Vogel's.model. The equations.des.ribing flow and heat trans.ort along with boundary conditions.are firs. made dimens.onles. us.ng proper non-dimens.onal trans.ormations.and then s.lved numerically via the finite element method (FEM). An appropriate comparis.n is.made with the previous.y publis.ed res.lts.in the literature as.a limiting cas. of the cons.dered problem. The comparis.n confirms.excellent agreement. The effects.of the Gras.of number, the Hartmann number, the Biot number, the exponential s.ace-and thermal-dependent heat s.urce (Es.s.THs. parameters. and the vis.ous.dis.ipation parameter on the temperature and velocity are s.udied and pres.nted graphically. The entropy generation and the Bejan number are als. calculated. From the comprehens.ve parametric s.udy, it is.recognized that the production of entropy can be improved with convective heating and vis.ous.dis.ipation as.ects. It is.als. found that the Es.s.as.ect dominates.the THs.as.ect.
