A General Association Test for High-Dimensional Random Vectors

Testing the association of two high-dimensional random vectors is of fundamental importance in the statistical theory and applications. In this paper, we propose a new test statistic based on the Frobenius norm and subtracting bias technique, which is generally applicable to high-dimensional data without restricting the distributional assumptions. The limiting null distribution of the proposed test is shown to be a random variable combining a finite chi-squared-type mixture with a normal approximation. Our proposed test method can also be a normal approximation or a finite chi-squared-type mixtures under additional regularity conditions. To make the test statistic applicable, we introduce a wild bootstrap method and demonstrate its validity. The finite-sample performance of the proposed test via Monte Carlo simulations reveals that it performs better at controlling the empirical size than some existing tests, even when the normal approximation is invalid. Real data analysis is devoted to illustrating the proposed test.

We consider the Ghosh-Peres number rigidity of translation-invariant determinantal point processes on the real line R, whose correlation kernels are induced by the Fourier transform of the indicators of generalized Cantor sets in the unit interval. Our main results show that for any givenθ∈(0, 1), there exists a generalized Cantor set with Lebesgue measure θ, such that the corresponding determinantal point process is Ghosh-Peres number rigid.

OBJECTIVE: To illustrate the effect of add-on therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) on the long-term survival of anemic lower-risk myelodysplastic syndromes(LR-MDS) patients. METHODS: In this study, we conducted a retrospective analysis of the data of patients with LR-MDS who were identified from Shuguang Hospital between January 2006 and June 2020. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate overall survival(OS), while the Cox model was employed to analyze prognostic factors of long-term survival. A total of 162 patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into two groups: the TCM group(n = 78) or the non-TCM group(n = 84). RESULTS: There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics. The cumulative survival rate of the TCM group was significantly higher than that of the non-TCM group [log-rank P = 0.029, hazard ratio(HR) = 0.484, 95% confidence interval(CI)(0.249, 0.942), P x model analysis, the combination of TCM and conventional Western Medicine may be a protective factor affecting the long-term survival of LR-MDS patients [HR = 0.509, 95% CI,(0.261, 0.993), P = 0.048]. The hematologic improvement erythroid response(HI-E) rate of the TCM group was significantly higher than that of the non-TCM group(69.23% vs 52.38%; P = 0.028). However, the duration of HI-E and cases of disease progression after HI-E did not significantly differ from the non-TCM group(P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The integration of TCM and Western Medicine has the potential to extend the OS of LR-MDS patients when compared to the use of Western Medicine alone.

Globalization has resulted in a notable rise in the flow of high-skilled talent from emerging countries to developed nations. Current research on transnational talent flow mainly focuses on the destination countries, with less attention given to the perspective of the sending countries, particularly lacking a dynamic discussion on its impact on technological evolution in the origin countries. Based on the OECD REGPAT database, this paper aims to explore how talent groups migrating to developed countries facilitate the return of knowledge and technology to emerging countries and achieve breakthroughs in their technological evolution paths, while further discussing the potential mechanisms involved. The findings of this paper are as follows:(1) The technological development of emerging countries is a path-dependent process, where countries often branch into new technologies related to their preexisting knowledge base. Consequently, knowledge feedback from high-skilled talents increases the likelihood of sending countries developing unrelated technologies.(2) The mobility of talents across borders fosters more international collaborations and citations for patents that are unrelated to the local knowledge base, thus enriching the technological paths of sending countries.(3) The mobility of high-skilled talents primarily affects complex technologies, which have significant economic effects that encourage imitation by other ***, the effect on novel technologies is less significant due to their strong geographical stickiness. In general, this paper addresses the gaps in existing research on talent outflow and the technological evolution of origin countries, providing empirical evidence for the positive role of transnational talent mobility in the technological catch-up of emerging ***, it offers recommendations for talent export, import, and innovation policy formulation in these countries.

The remaining useful life prediction of rolling bearing is vital in safety and reliability *** engineering scenarios,only a small amount of bearing performance degradation data can be obtained through accelerated life *** the absence of lifetime data,the hidden long-term correlation between performance degradation data is challenging to mine effectively,which is the main factor that restricts the prediction precision and engineering application of the residual life prediction *** address this problem,a novel method based on the multi-layer perception neural network and bidirectional long short-term memory network is ***,a nonlinear health indicator(HI)calculation method based on kernel principal component analysis(KPCA)and exponential weighted moving average(EWMA)is ***,using the raw vibration data and HI,a multi-layer perceptron(MLP)neural network is trained to further calculate the HI of the online bearing in real ***,The bidirectional long short-term memory model(BiLSTM)optimized by particle swarm optimization(PSO)is used to mine the time series features of HI and predict the remaining service *** verification experiments and comparative experiments are carried out on the xJTU-SY bearing open *** research results indicate that this method has an excellent ability to predict future HI and remaining life.

Associations between Rejective Parenting Style and Academic Anxiety among Chinese High School Students:The Chain Mediation Effect of Self-Concept and Positive Coping Style

Background:The phenomenon of academic anxiety has been demonstrated to exert a considerable influence on students’academic engagement,leading to the emergence of a phenomenon known as“learned helplessness”and undermining the selfconfidence and motivation of high school *** acceptance-rejection theory,this study elucidated how a rejective parenting style affects Chinese high school students’academic anxiety and explored the urban-rural heterogeneity of this ***:Data were analyzed using a stratified whole-cluster random sampling *** are a total of 30,000 high school students in the three regions of northern and central China(from Shanxi,Hebei and Henan).A sample of 2286 high school students aged 14–19 years was ultimately selected from 2760 respondents for this investigation,which was conducted at the beginning of the 2023 school *** correlation,ordinary least squares(OLS)regression analysis,path analysis,and Fisher’s permutation test(FPT)were used to examine the effects of rejective parenting style on high school students’academic ***:Results indicated a significant positive predictive effect between rejective parenting style and academic anxiety among high school students(β=0.815,t=116.211,pxiety through these *** study also found that the effect of rejective parenting style on academic anxiety varied by students’residential background and was more pronounced in urban areas(0.226)than in rural areas(0.130).Conclusion:The research underscores the imperative for Chinese families to reexamine their utilization of rejection parenting and to prioritize the cultivation of students’intrinsic *** findings offer a theoretical framework and practical evidence for policymakers and
