Background Despite the increasing focus on strengthening One Health capacity building on global level, challenges remain in devising and implementing real-world interventions particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. Low-cost Free-standing ferroelectric polymer films with high polarization produced via pressing-and-folding

Ferroelectric polymer poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)shows excellent electro-activity and is promising for flexible electronic ***,the processing of PVDF into the favourable ferroelectric structure(β-phase)presents difficulties,while its copolymer with trifluoroethylene(PVDF-TrFE)can directly crystallize into β-phase,but shows limited thermal stability and high-cost *** a result,an easily implementable method,pressing-and-folding(P&F),was used to produce highly compatible blended films of PVDF and PVDF-TrFE without using any hazardous solvent or complex polymer processing ***-pressed PVDF(molecular weight:530 kg/mol)and PVDF-TrFE(molar ratio:51/49)films were firstly stacked before undergoing P&F *** to extrusion-blended films before and after P&F,the P&F stacked films showed isotropic crystalline structure of b-phase,as confirmed using X-ray diffraction and infrared *** ferroelectric remnant polarization of the P&F stacked films is 0.068 c/m^(2),surpassing pure PVDF-TrFE(0.062 c/m^(2))and the simulated value of remnant polarization of pure PVDF(~0.065 c/m^(2)).The above findings promise to provide inspirations for new processing strategy on PVDF-based functional polymers.

Objective: To characterize the bacteriocin-like inhibitory-substances(BLIS) activity of Streptococcus macedonicus mBF10-2 [named BLIS(mBF10-2)], a bacteriocinogenic strain isolated from an Indonesian tofu ***: BLIS(mBF10-2) was obtained by culturing the bacterium, and standard deferred antagonism assays were used to demonstrate its activity. The antibacterial testing of fractions collected by filtration using 3–30 kDa cut-off membrane sizes were carried out by performing well diffusion ***: The growth of micrococcus luteus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Lactococcus lactis,Leuconostoc mesenteroides and Weissella confusa were inhibited by BLIS(mBF10-2).Interestingly, BLIS-containing fractions obtained from sequential application on ultrafiltration membranes indicated that this bacterium Streptococcus macedonicus mBF10-2 could produces at least two antimicrobial peptides activities, one of which is likely to be a lantibiotic peptide. Potential synergistic activity against certain Gram-positive(but not Gram-negative) species when partnered with antibiotics(ampicillin, tetracycline or kanamycin) were ***: combination of some BLIS(mBF10-2) active fractions with antibiotics(ampicillin, tetracycline or kanamycin) could demonstrate synergistic activities against certain Gram-positive species.

Structural evolution-enabled BiFeO3 modulated by strontium doping with enhanced dielectric,optical and superparamagnetic properties by a modified sol-gel method

multiferroic(BFO)nanoparticles doped with strontium with the general formula Bi1-xSrx FeO3(x=0,0.3,0.5,0.7)were synthesized using a modified sol-gel auto-combustion *** structural,electrical,optical,and magnetic properties of the samples are *** structural analysis,carried out using the x-ray powder diffraction technique,shows a structural transition from rhombohedral(R-3c)to cubic(Pm-3m)for the doping amount of strontium(Sr)equal to x=*** analysis of the prepared samples were carried out using scanning electron microscopy(SEm).Frequency-dependent dielectric constant and ac conductivity were *** doped samples,with improved dielectric properties,can be used to fabricate different optoelectronic *** dielectric dispersion and broad relaxation were exhibited by all the ***–cole plots were employed as an effective tool to study the dispersion parameters,namely,the optical dielectric constant,static dielectric constant,relaxation time,and spreading *** activation energy was calculated from the relaxation peaks and cole–cole plots,which were found to be compatible with each *** bandgap of the samples was calculated using diffuse reflectance spectral(DRS)*** and strong photoluminescence in the IR region was observed in the samples,similar to ZnO,which was reported for the first ***-temperature and low-temperature magnetization studies point towards the superparamagnetic nature of the samples,with an improvement in magnetic properties with *** antiferromagnetic behavior of bulk bismuth ferrite transforms to superparamagnetic in nature for both pure and Sr-substituted bismuth ferrite nanoparticles due to the close dimensions of crystallite size with magnetic domains leading to the break-down of the frustrated spin cycloidal moment.

Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) are designed to evaluate all reasonably foreseeable environmental consequences of human activities. Appropriate governmental scientists traditionally produced EIAs for management agencies in many countries. However, many EIAs are now contracted out, often to the lowest bidder without due consideration of expertise. Others suffer from limited agency resources. consequently, many EIAs have become insufficiently researched documents that draw heavily from previous EIAs while being rushed to completion to meet legislative deadlines or avoid delaying projects. Habitual treatment of topics often ignores recent scientific literature, perpetuating previous misconceptions and analytical flaws. common problems in EIAs discussing wildlife include: a focus on lethal takes, with little consideration of non-lethal impacts or habitat degradation;a general dismissal of the possibility that non-significant (to the resource) impacts can, when combined, become significant;and the assumption that behavioral habituation in animals represents an end of impact. Incentive to break the cycle is somewhat lacking in this now often commercially competitive environment, where contracts are increasingly awarded by industry, generating potential conflict of interest. We believe investment in thorough, impartially written, scientifically-based and up-to-date EIAs is important for appropriately representing and managing ecosystems and their resources and avoiding potentially expensive litigation.

Detection of TmPRSS2：ERG fusion gene in circulating prostate cancer cells

Aim： To investigate the existence of TmPRSS2：ERG fusion gene in circulating tumor cells （cTc） from prostate cancer patients and its potential in monitoring tumor metastasis. methods- We analyzed the frequency of TmPRSS2： ERG and TmPRSS2：ETV1 transcripts in 27 prostate cancer biopsies from prostatectomies, and TmPRSS2：ERG transcripts in cTc isolated from 15 patients with advanced androgen independent disease using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction （RT-PcR）. Fluorescence in situ hybridization （FISH） was applied to analyze the genomic truncation of ERG, which is the result of TmPRSS2：ERG fusion in 10 of the 15 cTc samples. Results： TmPRSS2： ERG transcripts were found in 44% of our samples, but we did not detect expression of TmPRSS2：ETV1. Using FISH analysis we detected chromosomal rearrangements affecting the ERG gene in 6 of 10 cTc samples, including 1 case with associated TmPRSS2：ERG fusion at the primary site. However, TmPRSS2：ERG transcripts were not detected in any of the 15 cTc samples, including the 10 cases analyzed by FISH. conclusion： Although further study is required to address the association between TmPRSS2：ERG fusion and prostate cancer metastasis, detection of genomic truncation of the ERG gene by FISH analysis could be useful for monitoring the appearance of cTc and the potential for prostate cancer metastasis.

Objective To examine the resilience of parents of children with congenital heart disease and to investigate socio-demographic factors that may influence parents’*** This is a web-based survey study using a cross-sectional design.A purposive sampling method was utilized to recruit 515 parents who care for children with congenital heart *** was assessed using the Dispositional Resilience Scale-Ⅱ.Based on expert-interviews,a questionnaire was designed to collect socio-demographic *** statistics,factor analysis,and linear regressions were used to analyze *** A total of 413 parents completed the survey *** mean resilience score was 3.75(SD=0.61;range=1.89–4.89)with higher scores indicating higher *** linear regression models demonstrated that parents who had lower education levels and lower gross household income had lower resilience(Pconclusions Parents reported resilience that reflected their ability to cope with stressful events and mitigate stressors associated with having and caring for children with congenital heart *** education levels and lower gross household income are associated with lower *** increase parents’resilience,nursing practice and nurse-led interventions should target screening and providing support for parents at-risk for lower *** lower education level and financial hardship are factors that are difficult to modify through personal efforts,charitable foundations,federal and state governments should consider programs that would provide financial and health literacy support for parents at-risk for lower resilience.
