Investigation on the roles of equilibrium toroidal rotation during edge-localized mode mitigated by resonant magnetic perturbations

The effects of equilibrium toroidal rotation during edge-localized mode(ELM)mitigated by resonant magnetic perturbation(RMP)are studied with the experimental equilibria of the EAST tokamak based on the four-field model in the BOUT++*** the two main parameters to determine the toroidal rotation profiles,the rotation shear and magnitudes were separately scanned to investigate their roles in the impact of RMPs on peeling-ballooning(P-B)*** one hand,the results show that strong toroidal rotation shear is favorable for the enhancement of the self-generated E×B shearing ratewith RMPs,leading to significant ELM mitigation with RMP in the stronger toroidal rotation shear *** the other hand,toroidal rotation magnitudes may affect ELM mitigation by changing the penetration of the RMPs,more precisely the resonant *** can lead to a reduction in the pedestal energy loss by enhancing the multimode coupling in the turbulence transport *** shielding effects on RMPs increase with the toroidal rotation magnitude,leading to the enhancement of the multimode coupling with RMPs to be significantly ***,the reduction in pedestal energy loss by RMPs decreased with the rotation *** brief,the results show that toroidal rotation plays a dual role in ELM mitigation with RMP by changing the shielding effects of plasma by rotation magnitude and affectingby rotation *** the high toroidal rotation region,toroidal rotation shear is usually strong and hence plays a dominant role in the influence of RMP on P-B modes,whereas in the low rotation region,toroidal rotation shear is weak and has negligible impact on P-B modes,and the rotation magnitude plays a dominant role in the influence of RMPs on the P-B modes by changing the field ***,the dual role of toroidal rotation leads to stronger ELM mitigation with RMP,which may be achieved both in the low toroidal rotation region and the relatively high rotation regi

充电机是动车组直流供电系统的核心环节,而直流支撑电容是充电机中的关键元件,如何准确评估直流支撑电容的寿命状态对充电机的故障预测及修程修制的合理安排具有十分重要的意义。针对此问题,对动车组充电机直流支撑电容失效机理进行分析,研究不同失效模式对电容退化程度的影响及对应的失效判据;在此基础上,提出一种基于阿伦尼斯模型的电容双应力加速寿命模型;为验证所提模型的正确性,开展基于不同纹波电流和温度的加速寿命实验,通过加速寿命实验确定电容实际失效时间,其与电容双应力寿命模型计算所得的电容理论失效时间相比,误差小于8.7%,验证了所提电容双应力加速寿命模型的正确性。在此基础上,进一步提出动车组充电机直流支撑电容寿命评估方法,实现动车组充电机直流支撑电容在实际运营工况下寿命的准确评估。

Comparison of copper speciation in the Zhujiang River Estuary between summer and winter: implication for upwelling current

The contents of total copper, total dissolved copper, particulate copper, and free ion copper in the Zhujiang River Estuary were investigated in July 2002 and January 2003 respectively, and the spatial distribution trend of these species of copper were compared in two cruises. It was found that, in summer, the total copper content in the Zhujiang River Estuary increased with salinity, while the content office ion copper decreased with salinity. However, in winter, the contents of total copper and free ion copper both decreased with salinity. So, it could be concluded that, copper content and speciation in the Zhujiang River Estuary were regulated by other factors than runoffdiffusion such as upwelling current. In order to prove the spatial trend of rice ion copper content in the Zhujiang River Estuary, the cultivation of Dunaliella tertiolecta in waters obtained from sampling stations with different salinities was carried out, and the copper uptake by algae cells was measured then. It was found that, the cells＇ uptake of copper increased with rice ion copper, not the content of total copper.

The effect of resonant magnetic perturbation with different poloidal mode numbers on peeling-ballooning modes

The effect of resonant magnetic perturbation(RMP)with different poloidal mode numbers on peeling-ballooning(P-B)modes is simulated with the BOUT++*** order to investigate the physical mechanism of edge-localized mode mitigated by RMP,a series of RMPs with different poloidal mode numbers are applied into the four-field P-B mode simulation module *** results indicate that RMP has a better reducing effect on the energy loss from the pedestal when the resonant position is near the bottom and top of pedestal rather than near the *** RMP could influence P-B modes through the following effects:on the one hand,the E×B shearing rate is significantly stronger when the RMP(resonant surface locates at the top of the pedestal)is added,which can suppress the radial propagation of the negative pressure perturbation and reduce energy loss from the *** the other hand,the coupling of toroidal modes in the nonlinear phase is enhanced when RMPs are added,which motivated the growth of multiple toroidal modes,and the turbulence fluctuation level is weaker with the RMP when the resonant surface is located at the bottom of the pedestal.

Focusing characteristics of the relativistic electron beam transmitting in ion channel

Based on the beam-plasma system model established in this paper,the trajectory of the electron beam in the ion channel is studied quantitatively through the envelope *** different initial system parameters,the focusing transmission conditions of the beam in the ion channel are ***,a series of particle-in-cell simulations are performed,which generally versifies the theoretical results and shows some further details of the focusing behavior of the *** is found that the deceleration of some electrons around the focusing point or the beam-plasma interaction at the ion channel boundary will result in the generation of the residual electrons,which forms the electron return current that leads to the new instabilities influencing the focusing characteristics of the beam.

Behavior of Phrynocephalus frontalis to Avoid Traps

Previous studies have shown that reptiles are capable of spatial learning and learn to locate important environmental resources so that they can return to those locations at a future time, when needed. Lizards improve their adaptability and survival by learning the position of their shelter in a complex environment. This behavior raises the question, whether lizards can sense danger, such as a trap, in their surroundings, by determining the location of the trap and avoiding it. In the present study, we used a pitfall trap to test if steppe toad-headed agama, Phrynocephalus frontalis, can learn to recognize the position of the trap and avoid it. Our results revealed that the percentage of activity time in the trap area was significantly reduced （P 〈 0.001） and the time of drop trap was also significantly reduced （P = 0.00631）. The number of burrows dug by lizards distributed in the trap area was the least. Reduced activity time in the trap area was observed to have no obvious relationship with the drop in the number of burrows. The present study, therefore, demonstrates that P. frontalis are capable of learning the avoidance of a trap by locating its position. The findings offer significant insight in the understanding of reptilian behavior, which is important in the study of the role of reptiles in global ecology, especially because they are often very sensitive to environmental changes.

Temporal and spatial variation of annual mean air temperature in arid and semiarid region in northwest China over a recent 46 year period

We analyzed the 1961-2006 mean surface air temperature data of 138 stations in China’s northwest arid and semi-arid areas(CNASA),to measure climate change in terms of annual mean air temperature *** used methods of linear regression analysis,multinomial fitting,Empirical Or-thogonal Function(EOF),Rotated Empirical Orthogonal Function(REOF),Mann-Kendall,Glide T-examination,wavelet analysis and power spectrum *** results show that(1) the warming rate of the annual mean air temperature in CNASA was 0.35oC/10a during the 1961-2006 study *** places in the west part of Xinjiang and east part of the Qinghai plateau,which is impacted by the terrain of leeward slope,exhibit smaller increasing ***,the majority of region has shown distinct warming in line with general global warming;(2) The standard deviation of the annual mean temperature distribution is *** south Xinjiang and east Qinghai-south Gansu areas show relatively small standard deviations,but the inter-annual variation in annual mean air temperature in the greater part of the region is high;(3) Inner Mongolia,Shaanxi,Gansu,Ningxia and Tarim Basin are the areas where the temperature changes are most sensitive to the *** degree of uniformity in annual mean air temperature increase is higher in the arid and semi-arid *** the early 1970s,the trend in tempera-ture changed from a decrease to an increase,and there was a marked increase in mean temperature in *** that mean temperature went through a period of rapid *** entire area’s 10 hottest years all occurred in or since the 1990s,and 90% of various sub-districts’ hottest years also occurred after *** process of temperature change appears to have a roughly 5-year and a 10-year cycle;(4) An-nual mean air temperature variation has regional *** Inner Mongolia-Xinjiang and Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia-Qinghai areas,the temperature variation in their northern areas was very different fro

Spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of the fog regions in China

The spatial distribution and monthly/annual variation of foggy days in China are analyzed based on the monthly mean fog data collected from 604 observational stations for the period 1961-2000. Results show that there are six fog regions in China： the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, coastal areas, Yunnan-Gulzhou Plateau, eastern Gansu-Shaanxi region, Huaihe River valley, Tianshan mountainous area and northern Xinjiang. On the whole the interannual variation trend of foggy days is descending, especially an obvious decline after the 1980s. The areas where the foggy days have obvious tendency present a southwest-northeast direction. The rising trend regions alternate with descending trend regions, forming a SE-NW directional wave structure. In general, the number of foggy days in autumn and winter is larger than in spring and summer over most fog regions. The monthly variation curves of foggy days are bimodal in the coastal area of the Yellow Sea and northern Xinjiang, and unimodal in other regions.

Marine diatom Thalassirosira weissflogii nutrient drawdown and its physiological status variation challenged to zinc and cadmium exposure

The uptake of zinc and cadmium by a species of marine diatom Thalassirosira weissflogii and the nutrient variation （ phosphorus and silicon） in the culture medium were estimated when exposed to zinc and cadmium stress under controlled laboratory conditions. It was found that low cadmium addition could stimulate the culture to grow with a relatively high rate and exert its toxicity at the elevated concentration. The cellular uptake of zinc and cadmium by the diatom varied in the ranges of 1.21 - 3.75 and 0. 060 - 0. 629 fmol per cell respectively in the whole cultivation period. The mean cellular phosphorus and silicon drawdowns were constant with 0. 26 - 0. 42 and 0. 30 - 0. 46 pmol per cell respectively in those healthy cultures. It is illustrated that the algal cells can adjust some physiological mechanisms to decrease metal accumulation and keep metal homeostasis in the organism. The correlation analysis results further indicate that the cellular cadmium uptake might be closely related with the cellular phosphorus, silicon drawdown and the growth rate of diatom （P 〈0. 05, 0. 001,0. 01 ） ; and the cultures grow better in good conditions, the lower amount of phosphorus, silicon materials are consumed by a single cell to keep a high efficiency of utilization.
