Using machine learning to improve the accuracy of genomic prediction of reproduction traits in pigs

Background:Recently,machine learning(ML)has become attractive in genomic prediction,but its superiority in genomic prediction over conventional(ss)GBLUP methods and the choice of optimal ML methods need to be ***:In this study,2566 Chinese Yorkshire pigs with reproduction trait records were genotyped with the GenoBaits Porcine SNP 50 K and PorcineSNP50 *** ML methods,including support vector regression(SVR),kernel ridge regression(KRR),random forest(RF)and Adaboost.R2 were *** 20 replicates of fivefold cross-validation(CV)and one prediction for younger individuals,the utility of ML methods in genomic prediction was *** CV,compared with genomic BLUP(GBLUP),single-step GBLUP(ssGBLUP)and the Bayesian method BayesHE,ML methods significantly outperformed these conventional *** methods improved the genomic prediction accuracy of GBLUP,ssGBLUP,and BayesHE by 19.3%,15.0% and 20.8%,*** addition,ML methods yielded smaller mean squared error(MSE)and mean absolute error(MAE)in all *** yielded an improvement of 3.8% on average in accuracy compared to that of GBLUP,and the accuracy of BayesHE was close to that of *** genomic prediction of younger individuals,RF and Adaboost.R2_KRR performed better than GBLUP and BayesHE,while ssGBLUP performed comparably with RF,and ssGBLUP yielded slightly higher accuracy and lower MSE than Adaboost.R2_KRR in the prediction of total number of piglets born,while for number of piglets born alive,Adaboost.R2_KRR performed significantly better than *** ML methods,Adaboost.R2_KRR consistently performed well in our *** findings also demonstrated that optimal hyperparameters are useful for ML *** tuning hyperparameters in CV and in predicting genomic outcomes of younger individuals,the average improvement was 14.3% and 21.8% over those using default hyperparameters,***:Our findings demonstrated that ML methods had better

Mechanically robust and dynamic supramolecular polymer networks enabled by[an]daisy chain backbones

Supramolecular polymer networks(SPNs)have garnered significant research interest due to their dynamic ***,while current developments primarily focus on managing supramolecular crosslinks,the role of polymer backbones—equally crucial to SPN properties—has not yet been sufficiently ***,we utilize mechanically interlocked[an]daisy chain as backbone to prepare a class of SPNs,where the force-induced motion of successive mechanical bonds toughens and reinforces the *** specific,the[an]daisy chain backbones connect with polynorbornene chains through quadruple H-bonding in the SPN *** to the control with non-slidable backbone,The representative SPN-2 exhibits a robust feature in tensile tests with high maximum stress(14.7 vs.7.89 MPa)and toughness(83.8 vs.48.6 MJ/m^(3)).Moreover,it also has superior performance in energy dissipation benefitting from the[an]daisy chain backbones as well as supramolecular ***,the SPN-2 displayed exceptional self-healing and reprocessing capabilities due to their dynamic quadrable H-bonding *** findings demonstrate the untapped potential of[an]daisy chain as a polymer skeleton to develop SPNs and open the door to design mechanically robust supramolecular materials with diverse smart functions.

Aluminum hydride is a promising chemical hydrogen storage material that can achieve dehydrogenation under mild conditions as well as high hydrogen storage ***,designing an efficient and cost-effective catalyst,especially a synergistic catalyst,for realizing low-temperature and high-efficiency hydrogen supply remains *** this study,the heterojunction synergistic catalyst of Ti_(3)C_(2)supported PrF_(3)nanosheets considerably improved the dehydrogenation kinetics of AlH_(3)at low temperatures and maintained a high hydrogen storage *** the synergistic catalyst,Pr produced a synergistic coupling interaction through its unique electronic *** sandwich structure with close contact between the two phases enhanced the interaction between species and the synergistic *** initial dehydrogenation temperature of the composite is reduced to 70.2℃,and the dehydrogenation capacity is 8.6 wt.%at 120℃ in 90 min under the kinetic test,which reached 93%of the theoretical hydrogen storage *** catalyst considerably reduced the activation energy of the dehydrogenation ***,the multielectron pairs on the surface of the catalyst promoted electron transfer and accelerated the reaction.

Efficacy and safety of systematic corticosteroids among severe COVID-19 patients:a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

The benefits and harms of corticosteroids for patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)remain *** systematically searched PubMed,Embase,and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from December 31,2019 to October 1,2020 to identify randomized controlled trials(RCTs)that evaluated corticosteroids in severe COVID-19 *** primary outcome was all-cause mortality at the longest *** outcomes included a composite disease progression(progression to intubation,ventilation,extracorporeal membrane oxygenation,ICU transfer,or death among those not ventilated at enrollment)and incidence of serious adverse events.A random-effects model was applied to calculate risk ratio(RR)with 95%confidence intervals(Cis).We used the Grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development,and Evaluation approach to evaluate the certainty of the *** RCTs involving 6250 patients were included,of which the Randomized Evaluation of COVID-19 Therapy(RECOVERY)trial comprised nearly 78%of all included *** showed that corticosteroids were associated with a decreased all-cause mortality(27.3 vs.31.1%;RR:0.85;95%CI:0.73-0.99;P=0.04;low-certainty evidence).Trial sequential analysis suggested that more trials were still required to confirm the ***,such survival benefit was absent if RECOVERY trial was excluded(RR:0.83;95%CI:0.65-1.06;P=0.13).Furthermore,corticosteroids decreased the occurrence of composite disease progression(30.6 vs.33.3%;RR:0.77;95%CI:0.64-0.92;P=0.005),but not increased the incidence of serious'adverse events(3.5 vs.3.4%;RR:1.16;95%CI:0.39-3.43;P=0.79).

Geologic,Fluid Inclusion and Stable Isotope Constraints on Mechanisms of Ore Deposition at the Datuanshan Copper Deposit,Middle-Lower yangtze Valley,Eastern China

The Datuanshan deposit is one of the largest and most representative stratabound copper deposits in the Tongling area,the largest ore district in the Middle-Lower yangtze River metallogenic *** location of the orebodies is controlled by the interlayer-slipping faults between the Triassic and Permian strata,and all the orebodies are distributed in stratiform shape around the Mesozoic quartz monzodiorite *** on field evidence and petrographic observations,four mineralization stages in the Datuanshan deposit have been identified：the skarn,early quartz-sulfide,late quartzsulfide and carbonate *** is the main copper mineral and mainly formed at the late quartz-sulfide *** inclusions at different stages were studied for petrography,microthermometry,laser Raman spectrometry and stable *** types of fluid inclusions,including three-phase fluid inclusions（type 1）,liquid-rich fluid inclusions（type 2）,vapour-rich fluid inclusions（type 3） and pure vapour fluid inclusions（type 4）,were *** minerals from the skarn,early and late quartz-sulfide stages contain all fluid inclusion types,but only type 2 fluid inclusions were observed at the carbonate *** observations suggest that most of the inclusions studied in this paper are likely *** coexistence of different types of fluid inclusions with contrasting homogenization characteristics（to the liquid and vapour phase,respectively） and similar homogenization temperatures（the modes are 440-480℃,380-400℃ and 280-320℃ for the skarn,early and late quartz-sulfide stages,respectively） in the first three stages,strongly suggests that three episodes of fluid boiling occurred during these stages,which is supported by the hydrogen isotope *** Raman spectra identified CH_4 at the skarn and early quartz-sulfide *** with other geological features,the early ore-forming fluids were inferred to be under a relatively reduced *** CO_2 component ha

To tackle the shortcoming of deficient using of feedback information in quantum-inspired evolutionary computing and catastrophe such as quantum mutation, the improved quantum-inspired evolutionary algorithm (IQEA) is proposed. The crossover and mutation operators of genetic algorithm are introduced to the quantum evolution algorithm, at the same time, the better individuals information is applied to the generation of the population applying the probability evaluation model of the estimation of distribution algorithm. Theory analyze and test function simulation experiments show that the improved quantum genetic algorithm is characterized by rapid convergence , excellent robustness and so on.

Fine-scale spatial distribution of soil organic carbon and its fractions after afforestation with Pinus sylvestris and Salix psammophila in a semiarid desert of China

Afforestation is helpful to improve soil functions and increase soil organic carbon(SOC)sequestration in semiarid ***,the fine-scale(around a single plant)spatial distribution of SOC and its liable organic carbon(LOC)fractions after afforestation in semiarid deserts are poorly *** sylvestris and Salix psammophila afforested on shifting sandy land(Sland)were selected to quantify fine-scale(at 20,80,150 and 240 cm away from the trees)spatial distribution of SOC and its LOC fractions in the southeast edge of Mu Us Desert,*** results showed that the afforested *** and *** significantly increased SOC,total nitrogen,dissolved organic carbon,microbial biomass carbon and readily oxidized organic carbon(ROOC).At 20 cm distance,SOC storage of *** was 27.21%higher than *** in 0-100 cm soil layers,and SOC storage of *** at 80 and 150 cm distances was 5.50%and 5.66%higher than ***,*** with Sland,SOC storage under *** and *** significantly increased by 94.90%,39.50%,27.10%and 18.50%at 20,80,150 and 240 cm distance,*** accounted for 14.09%and 18.93%of SOC under *** and ***,*** results suggest that afforestation can promote SOC accumulation at different distances from the plants,and that *** allocates more organic matter to the closer soil compared with ***(<80 cm from the tree).

Covalent organic frameworks/carbon nanotubes composite with cobalt(II)pyrimidine sites for bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysis

With characteristics and advantages of functional composite materials,they are commendably adopted in numerous fields especially in oxygen electrocatalysis,which is due to the significant synergies between various ***,a novel bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst(Co-CNT@COF-Pyr)has been synthesized through in-situ growth of covalent organic frameworks(COFs)layers on the outer surface of highly conductive carbon nanotubes(CNTs)followed by coordination with Co(Ⅱ).For electrocatalytic OER,Co-CNT@COF-Pyr reveals a low overpotential(438 mV)in alkaline electrolyte(1.0 M aqueous solution of KOH)with a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2),which is comparable to most discovered COF-based *** electrocatalytic ORR,CoCNT@COF-Pyr exhibits a low H_(2)O_(2) yield range(9.0%-10.1%)and a reaction pathway close to 4e^(-)(n=3.82-3.80)in alkaline electrolyte(0.1 M aqueous solution of KOH)within the test potential range of 0.1-0.6 V ***,which is superior to most reported COF-based ***,this research could not only offer an innovative insight into the construction of composites,but also facilitate the practical application of renewable fuel cells,closed water cycle,and rechargeable metal-air batteries.

Dehydrogenation behavior and mechanism of LiAlH_(4) adding nano-CeO_(2)with different morphologies

Complex hydride LiAlH_(4),as a hydrogen storage material,possesses high theoretical hydrogen storage capacity(10.5 wt.%).However,highly efficient additives are urgently required to modify its thermal stability and sluggish *** additives exhibit unique morphology-dependent ***,the efficient rare earth oxide nano-CeO_(2)additives with different morphologies(nanoparticles,nanocubes,and nanorods)are prepared by the hydrothermal method,and the intrinsic properties are *** three different morphologies of nano-CeO_(2),which are different in the Ce^(3+)content and specific surface area,are added to LiAlH_(4)to improve the dehydrogenation *** LiAlH_(4)-CeO_(2)-nanorod composite exhibits the optimal dehydrogenation behavior,which begins to desorb hydrogen at 76.6℃ with a hydrogen capacity of 7.17 wt.%,and 3.83 wt.%hydrogen is desorbed within 30 min at 140℃.The dehydrogenation process of the composites demonstrates that hydrogen release is facilitated by the in-situ formed CeH_(2).73 and the facile transition between the oxidation states of Ce^(4+)and Ce^(3+).Combined with density functional theory calculations,the addition of nano-CeO_(2)can weaken the Al-H bond and accelerate the decomposition of[AlH_(4)]^(4-)tetrahedron,which is consistent with the reduction of the decomposition activation energy.
