The development of tellurium(Te)-based semiconductor nanomaterials for efficient light-to-heat conversion may offer an effective means of harvesting sunlight to address global energy concerns.However,the nanosized Te(nano-Te)materials reported to date suffer from a series of drawbacks,including limited light absorption and a lack of surface structures.Herein,we report the preparation of nano-Te by electrochemical exfoliation using an electrolyzable room-temperature ionic liquid.Anions,cations,and their corresponding electrolytic products acting as chemical scissors can precisely intercalate and functionalize bulk Te.The resulting nano-Te has high morphological entropy,rich surface functional groups,and broad light absorption.We also constructed foam hydrogels based on poly(vinyl alcohol)/nano-Te,which achieved an evaporation rate and energy efficiency of 4.11 kg m^(−2)h^(−1)and 128%,respectively,under 1 sun irradiation.Furthermore,the evaporation rate was maintained in the range 2.5-3.0 kg m^(−2)h^(−1)outdoors under 0.5-1.0 sun,providing highly efficient evaporation under low light conditions.

A projected Newton algorithm based on chemically allowed interval for chemical equilibrium computations

The chemical equilibrium equations utilized in reactive transport modeling are complex and nonlinear,and are typically solved using the Newton-Raphson method.Although this algorithm is known for its quadratic convergence near the solution,it is less effective far from the solution,especially for ill-conditioned problems.In such cases,the algorithm may fail to converge or require excessive iterations.To address these limitations,a projected Newton method is introduced to incorporate the concept of projection.This method constrains the Newton step by utilizing a chemically allowed interval that generates feasible descending iterations.Moreover,we utilize the positive continuous fraction method as a preconditioning technique,providing reliable initial values for solving the algorithms.The numerical results are compared with those derived using the regular Newton-Raphson method,the Newton-Raphson method based on chemically allowed interval updating rules,and the bounded variable least squares method in six different test cases.The numerical results highlight the robustness and efficacy of the proposed algorithm.

Changes in the gut microbiota of osteoporosis patients based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing:a systematic review and meta-analysis

Background:Osteoporosis(OP)has become a major public health issue,threatening the bone health of middle-aged and elderly people from all around the world.Changes in the gut microbiota(GM)are correlated with the maintenance of bone mass and bone quality.However,research results in this field remain highly controversial,and no systematic review or meta-analysis of the relationship between GM and OP has been conducted.This paper addresses this shortcoming,focusing on the difference in the GM abundance between OP patients and healthy controls based on previous 16S ribosomal RNA(rRNA)gene sequencing results,in order to provide new clinical reference information for future customized prevention and treatment options of OP.Methods:According to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA),we comprehensively searched the databases of Pub Med,Web of Science,Embase,Cochrane Library,and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI).In addition,we applied the R programming language version 4.0.3 and Stata 15.1 software for data analysis.We also implemented the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale(NOS),funnel plot analysis,sensitivity analysis,Egger’s test,and Begg’s test to assess the risk of bias.Results:This research ultimately considered 12 studies,which included the fecal GM data of 2033 people(604 with OP and 1429 healthy controls).In the included research papers,it was observed that the relative abundance of Lactobacillus and Ruminococcus increased in the OP group,while the relative abundance for Bacteroides of Bacteroidetes increased(except for Ireland).Meanwhile,Firmicutes,Blautia,Alistipes,Megamonas,and Anaerostipes showed reduced relative abundance in Chinese studies.In the linear discriminant analysis Effect Size(LEfSe)analysis,certain bacteria showed statistically significant results consistently across different studies.Conclusions:This observational meta-analysis revealed that changes in the GM were correlated with OP,and variations in some advantageous GM might involve regional differences.

Short-chain fatty acids ameliorate spinal cord injury recovery by regulating the balance of regulatory T cells and effector IL-17^(+) γδ T cells

Spinal cord injury(SCI)causes motor,sensory,and autonomic dysfunctions.The gut microbiome has an important role in SCI,while short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)are one of the main bioactive mediators of microbiota.In the present study,we explored the effects of oral administration of exogenous SCFAs on the recovery of locomotor function and tissue repair in SCI.Allen’s method was utilized to establish an SCI model in Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats.The animals received water containing a mixture of 150 mmol/L SCFAs after SCI.After 21 d of treatment,the Basso,Beattie,and Bresnahan(BBB)score increased,the regularity index improved,and the base of support(BOS)value declined.Spinal cord tissue inflammatory infiltration was alleviated,the spinal cord necrosis cavity was reduced,and the numbers of motor neurons and Nissl bodies were elevated.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR),and immunohistochemistry assay revealed that the expression of interleukin(IL)-10 increased and that of IL-17 decreased in the spinal cord.SCFAs promoted gut homeostasis,induced intestinal T cells to shift toward an anti-inflammatory phenotype,and promoted regulatory T(Treg)cells to secrete IL-10,affecting Treg cells and IL-17^(+)γδT cells in the spinal cord.Furthermore,we observed that Treg cells migrated from the gut to the spinal cord region after SCI.The above findings confirm that SCFAs can regulate Treg cells in the gut and affect the balance of Treg and IL-17^(+)γδT cells in the spinal cord,which inhibits the inflammatory response and promotes the motor function in SCI rats.Our findings suggest that there is a relationship among gut,spinal cord,and immune cells,and the“gut-spinal cord-immune”axis may be one of the mechanisms regulating neural repair after SCI.

Experimental study on the influences of cutter geometry and material on scraper wear during shield TBM tunnelling in abrasive sandy ground

When shield TBM tunnelling in abrasive sandy ground,the rational design of cutter parameters is critical to reduce tool wear and improve tunnelling efficiency.However,the influence mechanism of cutter parameters on scraper wear remains unclear due to the lack of a reliable test method.Geometry and material optimisation are often based on subjective experience,which is unfavourable for improving scraper geological adaptability.In the present study,the newly developed WHU-SAT soil abrasion test was used to evaluate the variation in scraper wear with cutter geometry,material and hardness.The influence mechanism of cutter parameters on scraper wear has been revealed according to the scratch characteristics of the scraper surface.Cutter geometry and material parameters have been optimised to reduce scraper wear.The results indicate that the variation in scraper wear with cutter geometry is related to the cutting resistance,frictional resistance and stress distribution.An appropriate increase in the front angle(or back angle)reduces the cutting resistance(or frictional resistance),while an excessive increase in the front angle(or back angle)reduces the edge angle and causes stress concentration.The optimal front angle,back angle and edge angle for quartz sand samples areα=25°,β=10°andγ=55°,respectively.The wear resistance of the modelled scrapers made of different metal materials is related to the chemical elements and microstructure.The wear resistances of the modelled scrapers made of 45#,06Cr19Ni10,42CrMo4 and 40CrNiMoA are 0.569,0.661,0.691 and 0.728 times those made of WC-Co,respectively.When the alloy hardness is less than 47 HRC(or greater than 58 HRC),scraper wear decreases slowly with increasing alloy hardness as the scratch depth of the particle asperity on the metal surface stabilizes at a high(or low)level.However,when the alloy hardness is between 47 HRC and 58 HRC,scraper wear decreases rapidly with increasing alloy hardness as the scratch depth transitions from high to low levels.The sensitive hardness i

In this paper,a stable and adaptive sliding mode control(SMC)method for induction motors is introduced.Determining the parameters of this system has been one of the existing challenges.To solve this challenge,a new self-tuning type-2 fuzzy neural network calculates and updates the control system parameters with a fast mechanism.According to the dynamic changes of the system,in addition to the parameters of the SMC,the parameters of the type-2 fuzzy neural network are also updated online.The conditions for guaranteeing the convergence and stability of the control system are provided.In the simulation part,in order to test the proposed method,several uncertain models and load torque have been applied.Also,the results have been compared to the SMC based on the type-1 fuzzy system,the traditional SMC,and the PI controller.The average RMSE in different scenarios,for type-2 fuzzy SMC,is 0.0311,for type-1 fuzzy SMC is 0.0497,for traditional SMC is 0.0778,and finally for PI controller is 0.0997.

Design and test of the key components for a combing-type tobacco harvester

In response to the problems of low efficiency,high labor intensity,and low mechanization in manual tobacco harvesting,a comb-off tobacco picking device for southern hilly tobacco areas was designed following the agronomic requirements and the principle of manual picking of tobacco harvesting in southern China.The device was composed of the power chassis,picking mechanism,and storage mechanism.This study involved the theoretical analysis,structural design,and modeling of the key components,such as chassis structure,combing-type picking mechanism,and power synchronization mechanism.The results of the motion analysis and calculation of the picking process demonstrated that the adjustment range of the comb chain elevation angles was from 12.4°to 20.9°,the comb rod installation distance was 76.2 mm,and the synchronizing mechanism transmission ratio was 3:10.One-factor test and three-factor three-level orthogonal test was performed with the forward speed of the chassis,the distance between the picking device baffles and the elevation angle of the chain with the combing bar as test factors,and the rate of broken and missed tobacco picking as evaluation indicators.It was revealed that the optimal combination of the forward speed of the chassis,the distance between the baffles,and the chain elevation angle were 1.5 km/h,75 mm,and 12.4°,respectively.Moreover,verification tests suggested that the breakage rate of tobacco leaves was 9.99%,and the probability of missed tobacco picking was 7.31%,both of which satisfy the agriculture requirements and the operational requirements in the agricultural machinery certification syllabus.

Delicate chemical structure regulation of nonfullerene acceptor for efficient and large thickness organic solar cells

Inspired by the success of CH-series acceptors, a small-molecular acceptor, CH-Tz was reported by adopting a new conjugationextended electron-deficient unit([1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-b]pyrazine) on the central core. Owing to the enhanced inter-/intramolecular interactions, CH-Tz exhibited near-infrared absorption and an effective three-dimensional molecular packing network in its single crystal. When blended with polymer donor PM6, the binary device achieved a high power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 18.54%, with a notable short-circuit current density(J_(sc)) of 27.54 m A cm-2and an excellent fill factor(FF) over 80%,which can be partly ascribed to the balanced charge transport properties in the blend film. After employing D18-Cl as the third component, an enhanced PCE of 18.85% was achieved due to a more obvious fiber network. Impressively, the CH-Tz-based OSC devices show excellent thermal stability and thickness insensitivity. Record-breaking Jscof 28.92 m A cm-2was reached for PM6:D18-Cl:CH-Tz ternary device with a thickness of 560 nm. Besides, CH-Tz shows potential in fabricating multicomponent high-performance organic solar cells, where over 19% efficiency could be realized in the quaternary device. Our work advances the strong influence of electron-deficient central units on molecular photovoltaic properties and guides the design of acceptors for stable and large-thickness organic solar cells.

Lightweight thin-walled structures with lattice infill are widely desired in satellite for their high stiffness-to-weight ratio and superior buckling strength resulting fromthe sandwich effect.Such structures can be fabricated bymetallic additive manufacturing technique,such as selective laser melting(SLM).However,the maximum dimensions of actual structures are usually in a sub-meter scale,which results in restrictions on their appliance in aerospace and other fields.In this work,a meter-scale thin-walled structure with lattice infill is designed for the fuel tank supporting component of the satellite by integrating a self-supporting lattice into the thickness optimization of the thin-wall.The designed structure is fabricated by SLM of AlSi10Mg and cold metal transfer welding technique.Quasi-static mechanical tests and vibration tests are both conducted to verify the mechanical strength of the designed large-scale lattice thin-walled structure.The experimental results indicate that themeter-scale thin-walled structure with lattice infill could meet the dimension and lightweight requirements of most spacecrafts.

Candidate genes conferring ethylene-response in cultivated peanuts determined by BSA-seq and fine-mapping

Ethylene plays essential roles in plant growth,development and stress responses.The ethylene signaling pathway and molecular mechanism have been studied extensively in Arabidopsis and rice but limited in peanuts.Here,we established a sand-culture method to screen pingyangmycin mutagenized peanut lines based on their specific response to ethylene(“triple response”).An ethylene-insensitive mutant,inhibition of peanut hypocotyl elongation 1(iph1),was identified that showed reduced sensitivity to ethylene in both hypocotyl elongation and root growth.Through bulked segregant analysis sequencing,a major gene related to iph1,named AhIPH1,was preliminarily mapped at the chromosome Arahy.01,and further narrowed to a 450-kb genomic region through substitution mapping strategy.A total of 7014 genes were differentially expressed among the ACC treatment through RNA-seq analysis,of which only the Arahy.5BLU0Q gene in the candidate mapping interval was differentially expressed between WT and mutant iph1.Integrating sequence variations,functional annotation and transcriptome analysis revealed that a predicated gene,Arahy.5BLU0Q,encoding SNF1 protein kinase,may be the candidate gene for AhIPH1.This gene contained two single-nucleotide polymorphisms at promoter region and was more highly expressed in iph1 than WT.Our findings reveal a novel ethylene-responsive gene,which provides a theoretical foundation and new genetic resources for the mechanism of ethylene signaling in peanuts.
