To guarantee the blue skies for the 2022 Winter Olym.ics held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou from.February 4 to 20,Beijing and its surrounding areas adopted a series of em.ssion control *** provides an opportunity to determ.ne the im.acts of large-scale tem.orary control m.asures on the air quality in Beijing during this special ***,we applied the WRF-Cm.Q m.del to quantify the contributions of em.ssion reduction m.asures and m.teorological *** show that m.teorological conditions in 2022 decreased Pm.(2.5)in Beijing by 6.9 and 11.8μg/m.(3)relative to 2021 under the scenarios with and without em.ssion reductions,*** em.ssion reduction m.asures im.lem.nted in Beijing and seven neighboring provinces resulted in an average decrease of 13.0μg/m.(3)(-41.2%)in Pm.(2.5)in *** the entire period,local em.ssion reductions contributed m.re to good air quality in Beijing than nonlocal em.ssion *** the em.ssion reduction scenario,local,controlled regions,other regions,and boundary conditions contributed 47.7%,42.0%,5.3%,and 5.0%to the Pm.(2.5)concentrations in Beijing,*** results indicate that during the cleaning period with the air m.sses from.the northwest,the abatem.nts of Pm.(2.5)were m.inly caused by local em.ssion ***,during the potential pollution period with the air m.sses from.the east-northeast and west-southwest,the abatem.nts of Pm.(2.5)were caused by both local and nonlocal em.ssion reductions alm.st *** im.lies that regional coordinated prevention and control strategies need to be arranged scientifically and rationally when heavy pollution events are forecasted.

Cohort evidence linking long-term.survival of older adults with exposure to fine particulate m.tter (Pm..5) constituents rem.ins scarce in *** constructing a dynam.c cohort based on the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Study,we aim.d to assess the individual and joint associations of m.jor Pm..5constituents with all-cause death in Chinese oldest-old （≥80 years） ***-dependent Cox proportional hazards m.dels were adopted to estim.te death risks of long-term.exposure to *** 14,884 participants,totaling 56,342 person-years of follow-up,12,346 deaths were *** highest m.rtality risk associated with an interquartile range（IQR） increase in exposure was 1.081 （95%confidence interval[CI]:1.055–1.108） for sulfate (IQR=4.1μg m.3),followed by 1.078 （95%CI:1.056–1.101） for black carbon (IQR=1.6μg m.3),1.056 （95%CI:1.028–1.084） for am.onium.(IQR=3.2μg m.3),1.050 （95%CI:1.021–1.080） for nitrate (IQR=5.8μg m.3),and 1.049 （95%CI:1.024–1.074） for organic m.tter (IQR=10.3μg m.3).In joint exposure,each IQR-equivalent rise of all five Pm..5constituents was associated with an 8.2%（95%CI:4.0%–12.6%） increase in m.rtality *** weight analysis indicated the predom.nant role of sulfate and black carbon in driving Pm..5-related *** （aged 80–89 years） and rural dwellers were at significantly greater risk of m.rtality from.individual and joint exposures to *** study suggests that later-life exposure to Pm..5constituents,particularly sulfate and black carbon,m.y curtail long-term.survival of the oldest-old in China.

Revisiting the seasonal wave height variability in the South China Sea with m.rged satellite altim.try observations

The seasonal variability of the significant wave height（SWH） in the South China Sea（SCS） is investigated using the m.st up-to-date gridded daily altim.ter data for the period of Septem.er 2009 to August 2015. The results indicate that the SWH shows a uniform.seasonal variation in the whole SCS, with its m.xim. occurring in Decem.er/January and m.nim. in m.y. Throughout the year, the SWH in the SCS is the largest around Luzon Strait（LS） and then gradually decreases southward across the basin. The surface wind speed has a sim.lar seasonal variation, but with different spatial distributions in m.st m.nths of the year. Further analysis indicates that the observed SWH variations are dom.nated by swell. The wind sea height, however, is m.ch sm.ller. It is the the largest in two regions southwest of Taiwan Island and southeast of Vietnam.Coast during the northeasterly m.nsoon, while the largest in the central/southern SCS during the southwesterly m.nsoon. The extrem. wave condition also experiences a significant seasonal variation. In m.st regions of the northern and central SCS, the m.xim. of the 99 th percentile SWH that are larger than the SWH theoretically calculated with the wind speed for the fully developed seas m.inly appear in August–Novem.er, closely related to strong tropical cyclone *** with previous studies, it is also im.lied that the wave clim.te in the Pacific Ocean plays an im.ortant role in the wave clim.te variations in the SCS.

Existing evidence suggested that short-term.exposure to fine particulate m.tter(Pm.(2.5))m.y increase the risk of death from.m.ocardial infarction(m.),while Pm.(2.5) constituents responsible for this association has not been *** collected 12,927 m. deaths from.32 counties in southern China during 2011–***-level exposures of am.ient Pm.(2.5) and its 5 constituents(i.e.,elem.ntal carbon(EC),organic carbon(OC),sulfate(SO_(4)^(2-)),am.onium.NH_(4)^(+)),and nitrate(NO_(3)^(-)))were aggregated from.gridded datasets predicted by Com.unity m.ltiscale Air Quality m.deling *** em.loyed a space-tim.-stratified casecrossover design and conditional logistic regression m.dels to quantify the association of m. m.rtality with short-term.exposure to Pm.(2.5) and its constituents across various lag *** the study period,the daily m.an Pm.(2.5) m.ss concentration was 77.8(standard deviation(SD)=72.7)μg/m.(3).We estim.ted an odds ratio of 1.038(95%confidence interval(CI):1.003-1.074),1.038(1.013-1.063)and 1.057(1.023-1.097)for m. m.rtality associated with per interquartile range(IQR)increase in the 3-day m.ving-average exposure to Pm.(2.5)(IQR=76.3μg/m.3),EC(4.1μg/m.(3))and OC(9.1μg/m.(3)),*** did not identify significant association between m. death and exposure to water-soluble ions(SO_(4)^(2-),NH_(4)^(+)and NO_(3)^(-)).Likelihood ratio tests supported no evident violations of linear assum.tions for constituents-m. *** analyses showed stronger associations between m. death and EC/OC exposure in the elderly,m.les and cold ***-term.exposure to Pm.(2.5) constituents,particularly those carbonaceous aerosols,was associated with increased risks of m. m.rtality.

A growing num.er of studies associated increased m.rtality with exposures to specific fine particulate(Pm.(2.5))constituents,while great heterogeneity exists between *** China,evidence linking Pm.(2.5)constituents and m.rtality was extensively *** study prim.rily aim.d to quantify short-term.associations between Pm.(2.5)constituents and non-accidental m.rtality am.ng the Chinese *** collected daily m.rtality records from.32 counties in China between January 1,2011,and Decem.er 31,*** concentrations of m.in Pm.(2.5)constituents(organic carbon(OC),elem.ntal carbon(EC),nitrate(NO_(3)^(-)),sulfate(SO_(4)^(2−)),and am.onium.NH_(4)^(+)))were estim.ted using the m.dified Com.unity m.ltiscale Air Quality ***-stratified case-crossover design with conditional logistic regression m.dels was adopted to estim.te m.rtality risks associated with short-term.exposures to Pm.(2.5)m.ss and its *** analyses were done by sex,age,and season.A total of 116,959 non-accidental deaths were ***_(2.5)concentrations on the day of death were averaged at 75.7μg m.(−3)(control day:75.6μg m.(−3)),with an interquartile range(IQR)of 65.2μg m.(−3).Per IQR rise in Pm.(2.5),EC,OC,NO_(3)^(-),SO_(4)^(2−),and NH_(4)^(+)at lag-04 day was associated with an increase in non-accidental m.rtality of 2.4%(95%confidence interval,(1.0–3.7),1.7%(0.8–2.7),2.9%(1.6–4.3),2.1%(0.4–3.9),1.0%(0.2–1.9),and 1.6%(0.3–2.9),*** Pm.(2.5)m.ss and its constituents were strongly associated with elevated cardiovascular m.rtality risks,but only Pm.(2.5),EC,and OC were positively associated with respiratory m.rtality at lag-3 ***_(2.5)m.ss and its constituents associated effects on m.rtality varied am.ng sex-and age-specific *** in the seasonal pattern of associations exist am.ng Pm.(2.5)constituents,with stronger effects related to EC and NO_(3)^(-)in warm.m.nths but SO_(4)^(2−)and NH_(4)^(+)in cold ***-term

Influence of Atm.spheric Particulate m.tter on Ozone in Nanjing,China:Observational Study and m.chanistic Analysis

Particulate m.tter with diam.ters of 2.5 μm.or sm.ller(Pm.(2.5)) and ozone(O_3) are m.jor pollutants in the urban atm.sphere. Pm.(2.5) can affect O_3 by altering the photolysis rate and heterogeneous reactions. However, these two processes and their relative im.ortance rem.in uncertain. In this paper, with Nanjing in China as the target city, we investigate the characteristics and m.chanism.of interactions between particles and O_3 based on ground observations and num.rical *** 2008, the average concentrations of Pm.(2.5) and O_3 at Caochangm.n station are 64.6 ± 47.4 μg m.(-3) and 24.6 ± 22.8 ppb,respectively, while at Pukou station they are 94.1 ± 63.4 μg m.(-3) and 16.9 ± 14.9 ppb. The correlation coefficient between Pm.(2.5) and O_3 is -0.46. In order to understand the reaction between Pm.(2.5) and O_3, we construct a box m.del, in which an aerosol optical property m.del, ultraviolet radiation m.del, gas phase chem.stry m.del, and heterogeneous chem.stry m.del,are coupled. The m.del is em.loyed to investigate the relative contribution of the aforem.ntioned two processes, which vary under different particle concentrations, scattering capability and VOCs/NOxratios(VOCs: volatile organic com.ounds;NOx: nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide). Generally, photolysis rate effect can cause a greater O_3 reduction when the particle concentrations are higher, while heterogeneous reactions dom.nate O_3 reduction with low-level particle ***, in typical VOC-sensitive regions, O_3 can even be increased by heterogeneous reactions. In Nanjing, both processes lead to O_3 reduction, and photolysis rate effect is dom.nant. Our study underscores the im.ortance of photolysis rate effect and heterogeneous reactions for O_3, and such interaction processes should be fully considered in future atm.spheric chem.stry m.deling.

An Exam.nation of the Effects of Aerosol Chem.calCom.osition and Size on Radiative Properties of m.lti-Com.onent Aerosols

The sensitivity of aerosol radiative properties (i.e., scattering coefficient, extinction coefficient, single scatter albedo, and asym.etry factor) and radiation transm.ssion to aerosol com.osition, size distributions, and relative hum.dity (RH) is exam.ned in this paper. m.e calculations and radiation calculations using a tropospheric visible radiation m.del are perform.d. The aerosol system. considered include inorganic and organic ions (e.g., Cl-, Br-, , , Na+, , K+, Ca2+, m.2+, HCOO-, CH3COO-, CH3CH2COO-, CH3COCOO-, OOCCOO2-, m.A1-), and (2) water-insoluble inorganic and organic com.ounds e.g., (black carbon, n-alkanes, SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and other organic com.ounds). The partial m.lar refraction m.thod and the volum.-average m.thod are used to calculate the real and im.ginary parts of refractive index of real aerosols, respectively. The sensitivity sim.lations show that extinction coefficient increases by 70% when RH varies from.0 to 80%. Both extinction coefficient and asym.etry factor increase by ~48% when real part varies from.1.40 to 1.65. Scattering coefficient and single scattering albedo decrease by 18% and 24%, respectively, when the im.ginary part varies from.–0.005 to –0.1. Scattering and extinction coefficients increase by factors of 118 and 123, respectively, when the geom.tric m.an radius varies from.0.05 to 0.3 ?m. Scattering and extinction coefficients and asym.etry factor increase by factors of 389, 334, and 5.4, respectively, when geom.tric standard deviation varies from.1.2 to 3.0. The sensitivity sim.lations using a tropospheric visible radiation m.del show that the radiation transm.ssion is very sensitive to the change in geom.tric m.an radius and standard deviation;other factors are insignificant.

乌东德水电站在施工期间,其左岸尾水边坡曾出现过较大变形,为保证水电站的长期正常运行,分析了该期间乌东德水电站边坡岩体变形、锚杆应力、锚索锚固力、表面变形的变化特性,分析了发生变形的主要部位和深度范围,评价了边坡稳定状况,阐释了监测成果与边坡开挖支护的相关性,揭示了边坡发生较大变形的最主要原因。结果表明,变形主要发生在f_(1)断层上盘即向山内侧方向至尾水洞与泄洪洞边坡交界处、高程796~910 m.坡范围内。变形区变形深度一般在10~20 m.围内。边坡的变形与边坡下挖和尾水出口段开挖密切相关。边坡开挖后的卸荷回弹和施工过程中的爆破振动,是导致边坡向坡外产生较大变形的主因。随着设计要求的支护措施逐步实施,边坡变形基本趋于稳定。

乌东德水电站泄洪洞出口水垫塘左侧边坡开挖期间曾出现过较大变形,该边坡的稳定和安全性威胁邻近建筑物、下游河道甚至整个工程的正常运行。结合地质和物探资料等,分析了边坡开挖期间的变形和结构受力特性,阐述了监测量与开挖过程的相关性,揭示了边坡的变形机理。研究成果表明:岩体变形和表面变形具有一致性,主要发生在F 6断层下游侧且岩性质量较差的高程925~985 m.围,其余部位变形量较小。边坡的变形与施工过程紧密相关,最大的岩体变形和表面位移分别达到92.2 m.和312.5 m.,停止爆破开挖后变形逐渐收敛。高陡边坡总体岩体质量较差及大规模开挖卸荷,是引起局部坡体出现较大变形的主要原因。结合地质、监测、物探资料认为,该边坡变形总体上已收敛,不存在整体稳定问题。
