Effect of superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde metabolic changes on carcinogenesis of gastric carcinoma

AIM： To investigate the relationship between the superoxide dismutase （SOD）, malondialdehyde （MDA） metabolic changes and the gastric carcinogenesis.METHODS： The SOD activity and MDA content were measured in the gastric tissues from the focus center, peripheral and far-end areas of gastric carcinoma （n = 52） arid gastric ulcer （n = 10）. All the tissues were subjected to routine histological examinations and classifications.RESULTS： The SOD activity was greatly reduced but the MDA content was markedly increased in the center areas of the non-mucous gastric carcinoma （non-MGC）; and the poorly differentiated gastric carcinoma varied. The SOD activity was gradually decreased and the MDA content was gradually increased in the tissues from the focus far-end, peripheral to center areas of non-MGC. Both of the SOD activity and the MDA content were significantly declined and were respectively at same low level in the tissues from the focus center, peripheral, and far-end area with the mucous gastric carcinoma （MGC）. In contrast to the gastric ulcer and grade I or II of non-MGC, the same level of the SOD activity and the MDA content were found in the focus center areas. Between non-MGC （groups A-D） and gastric ulcer （group F）, the differences of SOD activity and MDA content were very noticeable in the gastric tissues from the focus peripheral and far-end areas, in which the SOD activity showed noticeable increase and the MDA content showed noticeable decreasein the gastric ulcer.CONCLUSION： The active free radical reaction in the gastric tissues can induce the carcinogenesis of non-MGC. The utmost low ability of antioxidation in the gastric tissues can induce the carcinogenesis of MGC. The metabolic change of the free radicals centralized mostly in the center of ulcerated lesions only, which suggested the ability of antioxidation was declined only in these lesions. As the complexity of autonomous vehicles(AVs)continues to increase and artificial intelligence algorithms are becoming increasingly ubiquitous,a novel safety concern known as the safety of the intended functionality(SOTIF)has emerged,presenting significant challenges to the widespread deployment of *** focuses on issues arising from the functional insufficiencies of the AVs’intended functionality or its implementation,apart from conventional safety *** the systems engineering standpoint,this study offers a comprehensive exploration of the SOTIF landscape by reviewing academic research,practical activities,challenges,and perspectives across the development,verification,validation,and operation *** research encompasses system-level SOTIF studies and algorithm-related SOTIF issues and ***,it encapsulates practical SOTIF activities undertaken by corporations,government entities,and academic institutions spanning international and Chinese contexts,focusing on the overarching methodologies and practices in different ***,the paper presents future challenges and outlook pertaining to the development,verification,validation,and operation phases,motivating stakeholders to address the remaining obstacles and challenges.

Objective To investigate the effect of interleukin-6 （ IL-6 ） on the apoptosis of annulus fibrosus （AF） cell induced by intedeukin-1β （IL-1β）. Methods Cultured AF cells were divided into 6 groups and treated with no drug, 10 ng/mL IL-6, 10 ng/mL IL-1β, 10 ng/mL IL-1β and Z-VAD-FMK （ a caspase-9 inhibitor）, 10 ng/mL IL-1β and 10 ng/mL IL-6, 10 ng/mL IL-1β and 100 ng/mL IL-6, respectively. After three days of culture, the apoptosis rate, the positive rates of caspase-3, -8, and -9 of AF cells were detected with flow cytometry. Results The apoptosis rates of cells in group 1 to 6 were 2.67% ± 1.08%, 2.71% ± 0.53%, 20. 37% ± 1.57 %, 11.34% ± 0.67 %, 18.17 % ± 0.74%, and 9.42 % ± 1.08 %, respectively. There was no significant difference between group 1 and 2, while the apoptosis rates of group 4, 5, and 6 were significantly lower than group 3 （ P = 0. 001, P =0. 172, and P =0. 001, respectively）. Positive rates of caspase-3 in group 5 （ 12. 35% ±0.64% ） and 6 （9.26% ±0. 36% ） were significantly lower than group 3 （ 17.14% ±0. 72% ; P =0. 001 and P 〈0.001, respectively）. And positive rates of caspase-9 in group 5 （ 15.13% ± 1.45% ） and 6 （ 10.17% ± 2.50% ） were significantly lower than group 3 （ 19.4% ±0.98% ; P =0. 014 and P =0. 004, respectively）. But there was not obvious change of caspase-8 activity after IL-6 was added. Conclusion IL-6 is capable of protecting AF cells from IL-1β induced apoptosis in vitro. Mechanism of the protection is related with the inhibition of caspase-3 and -9 activities.

To promote charge transfer and separation for efficient photocatalysis,a direct Z-scheme heterostructure was constructed by coupling polymeric carbon nitride(PCN) and WO_(3).Interestingly,the obtained PCN/WO_(3)Z-scheme heterostructure could photocataly tic ally produce hydrogen and value-added chemicals(e.g.,formate and acetate) by reforming of plastic polylactic acid(PLA) in alkaline aqueous *** optimizing WO_(3) contents and reaction conditions,the obtained PCN/WO_(3)heterostructure exhibits much increased photocatalytic activity for PLA photoreforming under visible light,with hydrogen evolution rate reaching 402.90 μmol·g~(-1)·h~(-1),which is 3.5 times that of *** is revealed that the Z-scheme charge transfer between PCN and WO_(3) mainly contributes to the promoted charge separation and thus the improved photocatalytic ***,with h+and·OH experimentally evidenced as the predominant active species,a possible reaction pathway for the reforming of PLA into value-added chemicals(e.g.,formate and acetate)over PCN/WO_(3) Z-scheme heterostructure is cleared by monitoring the reaction intermediates and *** work paves a carbon neutrality and scalable route toward the synergistical production of hydrogen and value-added chemicals by utilizing and recycling plastic waste.

BACKGROUND Collision tumors involving the small intestine,specifically the combination of a hamartomatous tumor and a lipoma,are extremely *** our knowledge,no previous case report has described a collision tumor composed of two benign tumors of different origins in the small *** SUMMARY Here,we present the case of an 82-year-old woman who presented with hemorrhagic shock and was found to have a mass measuring approximately 50 mm×32 mm×30 mm in the terminal *** on computed tomography scan findings,the mass was initially suspected to be a lipoma.A subsequent colonoscopy revealed a pedunculated submucosal elevation consisting of two distinct parts with a visible demarcation line.A biopsy of the upper portion suggested a juvenile polyp(JP).Owing to the patient’s advanced age,multiple comorbidities,and poor surgical tolerance,a modified endoscopic submucosal dissection was *** examination of the excised mucosal mass revealed a lipoma at the base and a JP at the top,demonstrating evidence of rupture and associated *** patient’s overall health remained satisfactory,with no recurrence of hematochezia during the six-month follow-up *** This case report provides new evidence for the understanding of gastrointestinal collision tumors,emphasizing their diverse clinical presentations and histopathological *** also offers diagnostic and therapeutic insights as well as an approach for managing benign collision tumors.
