Enhancing the electrochemical performance of Na metal anodes via local eutectic melting in porous Al-Cu alloy hosts

Sodium(Na)metal batteries(SMBs)have emerged as promising alternatives to lithium metal batteries for large-scale energy storage applications,owing to their cost-effectiveness,abundance,and favorable redox ***,the practical implementation of SMBs faces several challenges associated with the Na metal anode,including the formation of dendrites,low Coulombic efficiency,and capacity ***,we propose a novel approach to enhance the electrochemical performance of Na metal anodes through a porous Al-Cu alloy host(PAC)fabricated by a local eutectic melting *** local eutectic melting facilitates the development of a conductive network,offering mechanical support,and the porous structure provides abundant channels for the diffusion of Na ions and accommodates volume fluctuations in the Na metal during charge–discharge ***,the PAC exhibits a high average Coulombic efficiency of 99.8%at 1 mA·cm^(−2)for 1 mAh·cm^(−2)and a low voltage polarization of 19 mV during 500 *** study provides valuable insight into the design and fabrication of highperformance Na metal anodes,which hold significant promise for the advancements of next-generation energy storage systems.

The statistical modeling of extraordinary loads on buildings has been stagnant for decades due to the laborious and error-prone nature of existing survey methods,such as questionnaires and verbal *** study proposes a new vision-based survey method for collecting extraordinary load data by automatically analyzing surveillance *** this purpose,a crowd head tracking framework is developed that integrates crowd head detection and reidentification models based on convolutional neural networks to obtain head trajectories of the crowd in the survey *** crowd head trajectories are then analyzed to extract crowd quantity and velocities,which are the essential factors for extraordinary *** survey areas with frequent crowd movements during temporary events,the equivalent dynamic load factor can be further estimated using crowd velocity to consider dynamic effects.A crowd quantity investigation experiment and a crowd walking experiment are conducted to validate the proposed survey *** experimental results prove that the proposed survey method is effective and accurate in collecting load data and reasonable in considering dynamic effects during extraordinary *** proposed survey method is easy to deploy and has the potential to collect substantial and reliable extraordinary load data for determining design load on buildings.

The objective of this paper was to study low temperature crack resistance mechanism of steel slag asphalt mixture(SAM).Thermal stress restrained specimen test(TSRST)and three-point bending test were carried out to evaluate the low-temperature crack resistance of SAM and basalt asphalt mixture(BAM).Based on the digital image correlation technique(DIC),the strain field distribution and crack propagation of SAM were analyzed from the microscopic point of view,and a new index,crack length factor(C),was proposed to evaluate the crack resistance of the asphalt *** crystal phase composition and microstructure of steel slag aggregate(SA)and basalt aggregate(BA)were studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)to explore the low-temperature crack resistance mechanism of *** show that the low-temperature crack resistance of SAM is better than that of BAM;SAM has good integrity and persistent elastic deformation,and its bending failure mode is a hysteretic quasi-brittle failure;The SA surface is evenly distributed with pores and has surface *** has the composition phase of alkaline aggregate-calcite(CaCO3),so it has good adhesion to asphalt,which reveals the mechanism of excellent low-temperature crack resistance of SAM.

The narrowband meta-absorbers exhibit significantly enhanced electromagnetic confinement capabilities, showcasing broad application prospects in sensing fields. They can be applied for biomarker detection, chemical composition analysis, and monitoring of specific gas in the environment. In this work, we propose a 3D meta-absorber with an out-of-plane plasma mechanism based on a two-photon printing system. Compared to the conventional fabrication of a metal-insulator-metal 2D meta-absorber, the 3D absorber is composed of a metal layer and a resin layer from top to bottom;its manufacturing process is simpler, only including two-photon printing and magnetron sputtering deposition. A noticeable absorbing resonance appears at 0.3142 THz with perfect absorbance with a high Q-factor of 104.67. The theoretical sensitivity to the refractive index of the sensor reaches up to172.5 gHz/RIU, with a figure of merit (FOM) of 19.56. In the experiments, it was validated as a meta-absorber with high sensitivity for doxycycline (DCH). As the DCH concentration increases from 0 to 4 mg/mL, the absorption intensity decreases around 49%, while the resonant frequency shift is around 70 gHz. It reflects the real-time residual content of DCH, and is potentially applied in trace antibiotic detection. The results showcase a perfect narrowband absorption capability with strong electromagnetic confinement in the terahertz spectrum, along with high-Q sensing characteristics of DCH. Compared to 2D metamaterials, the diversity of3D metamaterial significantly expands, and introduces additional effects to provide greater flexibility in manipulating electromagnetic waves. The 3D device offers opportunities for the application of terahertz biochemical sensing.
