Investigation of formaldehyde sources and its relative emission intensity in shipping channel environment

Formaldehyde(HCHO)is considered one of the most abundant gas-phase carbonyl compounds in the atmosphere,which can be directly emitted through transportation sources.Long-Path Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy(LP-DOAS)was used to observe HCHO in the river channel of Wusong Wharf in Shanghai,China for the whole year of 2019.Due to the impact of ship activity,the annual average HCHO level in the channel is about2.5 times higher than that in the nearby campus environment.To explain the sources of HCHO under different meteorological conditions,the tracer-pair of CO and O_(x)(NO_(2)+O_(3))was used on the clustered air masses.The results of the source appointment show that primary,secondary and background account for 24.14%(3.34±1.19 ppbv),44.78%(6.20±2.04ppbv)and 31.09%(4.31±2.33 ppbv)of the HCHO in the channel when the air masses were from the mixed direction of the city and channel,respectively.By performing background station subtraction at times of high primary HCHO values and resolving the plume peaks,directly emitted HCHO/NO_(2)in the channel environment and plume were determined to be mainly distributed between 0.2 and 0.3.General cargo ships with higher sailing speeds or main engine powers tend to have higher HCHO/NO_(2)levels.With the knowledge of NO_(2)(or NO_(x))emission levels from ships,this study may provide data support for the establishment of HCHO emission factors.

Straw mulching alters the composition and loss of dissolved organic matter in farmland surface runoff by inhibiting the fragmentation of soil small macroaggregates

Straw mulching is a widespread practice for reducing the soil carbon loss caused by erosion.However,the effects of straw mulching on dissolved organic matter(DOM)runoff loss from black soil are not well studied.How straw mulching affects the composition and loss of runoff DOM by changing soil aggregates remains largely unclear.Here,a straw mulching treatment was compared to a no mulching treatment(as a control)on sloping farmland with black soil erosion in Northeast China.We divided the soil into large macroaggregates(>2 mm),small macroaggregates(0.25-2 mm),and microaggregates(<0.25 mm).After five rain events,the effects of straw mulching on the concentration(characterized by dissolved organic carbon(DoC)and composition(analyzed by fluorescence spectroscopy)of runoff and soil aggregate DOM were studied.The results showed that straw mulching reduced the runoff amount by 54.7%.Therefore,although straw mulching increased the average DOc concentration in runoff,it reduced the total runoff DOM loss by 48.3%.The composition of runoff DOM is similar to that of soil,as both contain humic-like acid and protein-like components.With straw mulching treatment,the protein-like components in small macroaggregates accumulated and the protein-like components in runoff declined with rain events.Fluorescence spectroscopy technology may help in understanding the hydrological paths of rain events by capturing the dynamic changes of runoff and soil DOM characteristics.A variation partitioning analysis(VPA)indicated that the DOM concentration and composition of microaggregates explained 68.2%of the change in runoff DOM from no mulching plots,while the change in runoff DOM from straw mulching plots was dominated by small macroaggregates at a rate of 55.1%.Taken together,our results demonstrated that straw mulching reduces the fragmentation of small macroaggregates and the loss of microaggregates,thus effecting DOM compositions in soil and reducing the DOM loss in runoff.These results provide a theoretical basis for reducing carbon loss

Hypoxia-inducible factor(HIF-1α),a core transcription factor responding to changes in cellular oxygen levels,is closely associated with a wide range of physiological and pathological conditions.However,its differential impacts on vascular cell types and molecular programs modulating human vascular homeostasis and regeneration remain largely elusive.Here,we applied CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing of human embryonic stem cells and directed differentiation to generate HIF-ia-deficient human vascular cells including vascular endothelial cells,vascular smooth muscle cells,and mesenchymal stem cells(MsCs),as a platform for discovering cell type-specific hypox-ia-induced response mechanisms.Through comparative molecular profiling across cell types under normoxic and hypoxic conditions,we provide insight into the indispensable role of HIF-1αin the promotion of ischemic vascular regeneration.We found human MSCs to be the vascular cell type most susceptible to HIF-1a deficiency,and that transcriptional inactivation of ANKZF1,an effector of HIF-1a,impaired pro-angiogenic processes.Altogether,our findings deepen the understanding of HIF-ia in human angiogenesis and support further explorations of novel therapeutic strategies of vascular regeneration against ischemic damage.

Background Previous studies havedemonstrated that excitatory repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)can improve the cognitive function of patients with Alzheimer's disease(AD).Intermittent theta burst stimulation(iTBS)is a novel excitatory rTMS protocol for brain activity stimulation with the ability to induce long-term potentiation-like plasticity and represents a promising treatment for AD.However,the long-term effects of iTBS on cognitive decline and brain structure in patients with AD areunknown.Aims We aimed to explore whether repeating accelerated iTBS every three months could slow down the cognitive decline in patients with AD.Methods In this randomised,assessor-blinded,controlled trial,iTBS was administered to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(DLPFC)of 42 patients with AD for 14days every 13weeks.Measurements included the Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA),a comprehensive neuropsychological battery,and the grey matter volume(GMV)of the hippocampus.Patients were evaluated at baseline and after follow-up.The longitudinal pipeline of the Computational Anatomy Toolbox for SPM was used to detect significant treatment-related changes over time.Results The iTBS group maintained MoCA scores relative to the control group(t=3.26,p=0.013)and reduced hippocampal atrophy,which was significantly correlated with global degeneration scale changes.The baseline Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)score,apolipoprotein E genotype and Clinical Dementia Rating were indicative of MoCA scores at follow-up.Moreover,the GMV of the left(t=0.08,p=0.996)and right(t=0.19,p=0.977)hippocampus were maintained in the active group but significantly declined in the control group(left:t=4.13,p<0.001;right:t=5.31,p<0.001).GMV change in the left(r=0.35,p=0.023)and right(r=0.36,p=0.021)hippocampus across the intervention positively correlated with MoCA changes;left hippocampal GMV change was negatively correlated with global degeneration scale(r=-0.32,p=0.041)changes.Conclusions DLPFC-iTBS maybe a feasible and easy-to-implement

Deficiency of circadian gene Per2 blocks luteolin-induced adipocyte browning in mice through weakening liver PPARα/RXRα/FGF21 pathway

During the development of diet-induced obesity， the change of energy matebolism is closely related to the function of the circadian clock in mammals. Luteolin (LU)， one of the most common natural flavonoids riched in many edible plants， can ameliorate obesity by activating adipose tissue browning， but its effect on circadian clock in this process remains poorly understood. Here we found that dietary LU improved circadian misalignment of energy expenditure in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed wild-type (WT) mice. Moreover， dietary LU efficiently elevated UCP1 levels in adipose tissue during the dark period， which was similar to the LU-increased hepatic PER2 expressions. Hepatic PPARα/RXRα/FGF21 pathway was rhythmically elevated by dietary LU in HFD-fed WT mice， whereas the promotion was inhibited in Per2-/-mice. Meanwhile， Per2 deletion abolished the effects of dietary LU on adipose tissue browning in HFD-fed mice. Further， LU treatment directly activated PPARα/RXRα/FGF21 signaling in primary cultured hepatocytes from WT mice rather than Per2-/-mice. Taken together， the deletion of the core clock component Per2 impedes LU-induced adipose tissue browning through weakening PPARα/RXRα/FGF21 pathway in mice， providing a new insight into the interplay of energy metabolism and circadian clock for the anti-obesity activity of LU.

Tropospheric reactive bromine is important for atmospheric chemistry,regional air pollution,and global climate.Previous studies have reported measurements of atmospheric reactive bromine species in different environments,and proposed their main sources,e.***.sea-salt aerosol（SSA）,oceanic biogenic activity,polar snow/ice,and volcanoes.Typhoons and other strong cyclonic activities（e.***.hurricanes） induce abrupt changes in different earth system processes,causing widespread destructive effects.However,the role of typhoons in regulating reactive bromine abundance and sources remains unexplored.Here,we report field observations of bromine oxide（BrO）,a critical indicator of reactive bromine,on the Huaniao Island（HNI）in the East China Sea in July 2018.We observed high levels of BrO below 500 m with a daytime average of9.7±4.2 pptv and a peak value of ～26 pptv under the influence of a typhoon.Our field measurements,supported by model simulations,suggest that the typhoon-induced drastic increase in wind speed amplifies the emission of SSA,significantly enhancing the activation of reactive bromine from SSA debromination.We also detected enhanced BrO mixing ratios under high NOxconditions（ppbv level） suggesting a potential pollution-induced mechanism of bromine release from SSA.Such elevated levels of atmospheric bromine noticeably increase ozone destruction by as much as ～40% across the East China Sea.Considering the high frequency of cyclonic activity in the northern hemisphere,reactive bromine chemistry is expected to play a more important role than previously thought in affecting coastal air quality and atmospheric oxidation capacity.We suggest that models need to consider the hitherto overlooked typhoon-and pollution-mediated increase in reactive bromine levels when assessing the synergic effects of cyclonic activities on the earth system.

Application Effect of Blended Education Strategy Based on the Learning Pass Platform in Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation of Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

Objective:To explore the application effect of the blended education strategy based on the Learning Pass platform in the phase III cardiac rehabilitation of patients with coronary artery disease.Methods:90 patients diagnosed with coronary artery disease in the Department of Cardiology of our hospital from January 2019 to January 2021 were selected and divided into the control group and the experimental group according to the method of randomized numerical table,with 45 cases in each group.Both the experimental group and the control group received pre-discharge cardiac rehabilitation education by conventional means.The control group received education and supervision information via WeChat after discharge,while the experimental group joined the Learning Pass platform to receive online and offline hybrid education and supervision,with online as the mainstay and offline as a supplement.The disease cognitive level,self-management skills,quality of life,medication adherence,and emotional status of the two groups were compared.Results:The disease cognitive levels in the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05);the scores of the experimental group in terms of quality of life,self-management skills,and medication adherence were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05);and the scores of anxiety and depression in the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The blended education strategy based on the Learning Pass platform has a significant application effect in phase III cardiac rehabilitation of patients with coronary artery disease.It can improve patients’disease cognitive level,self-management skills,and quality of life,and provide a basis for improving patients’prognosis.

Analysis of the Clinical Value of Psychological Intervention in Gastric Cancer Care

Objective: To analyze the application value of psychological intervention in gastric cancer nursing. Methods: This study analyzes gastric cancer patients admitted to hospitals from May 2022 to May 2023. Based on research requirements and patient willingness, 80 patients were selected and divided into observation and control groups using a lottery method. The control group received conventional nursing care, while the observation group received psychological intervention in addition to conventional nursing care. Results: After the psychological intervention, patients in the observation group showed significant improvements in anxiety and depression, better sleep quality, remarkable enhancement in psychological resilience, higher levels of health literacy, and increased nursing satisfaction compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Incorporating psychological intervention into the nursing care of gastric cancer patients enhances their psychological adjustment ability and improves treatment adherence.

The function and potential drug targets of tumour-associated Tregs for cancer immunotherapy

Regulatory T cells(Tregs) play an important role in maintaining self-tolerance and immune homeostasis, but they also play a negative role in evoking effective antitumour immune responses. There is ample evidence indicating that the depletion of Tregs or the inhibition of Treg function will enhance antitumour effects. However, it is unclear which surface molecules of Tregs are suitable targets for tumour immunotherapy with minimal toxic side effects, which is a central theme in the field of Treg-targeted immunotherapy. In this review, we focus on the regulatory mechanisms of Tregs, including intrinsic and extrinsic factors within the tumour microenvironment, and we address potential drug targets on Tregs for immunotherapy.

目的利用鼻阻塞症状(nasal obstruction symptom evaluation,NOSE)评分量表及鼻功能检查探讨患者行鼻中隔成形术前术后的鼻腔通气情况变化,探讨患者主观鼻塞与鼻功能检查之间的相关性及临床应用价值。方法选取2021年12月至2023年4月的129例鼻中隔偏曲患者进行研究,所有患者均行鼻中隔成形术。对所有患者术前及术后3个月进行NOSE量表调查。应用鼻声反射、鼻阻力计及鼻呼吸量仪器,记录患者术前及术后双侧鼻腔最小横截面积(nasal minimal cross-sectional area,MCA)、鼻腔容积(nasal cavity volume,NCV)、鼻腔总阻力(nasal resistance,NR)、最小横截面积距前鼻孔的距离(the distance between the nostril to minimum cross-sectional area,MD)、鼻腔吸气量(nasal inspiratory volume,IV)、呼气量(nasal expiratory volume EV)、鼻呼吸气量差异比(the nasal partitioning ratio,NPR)包括吸气量差异比(NPRi)及呼气量差异比(NPRe)等客观指标。应用配对t检验比较分析各项指标术前、术后的变化,差异有统计学意义(P0.05)。术前NOSE评分与NR、NCV、EV、IV、NPRe、NPRi之间具有相关性(P0.05)。术后NOSE评分与NR、MCA、NCV、EV、IV、NPRe、NPRi之间具有相关性(P0.05)。结论NOSE量表联合鼻功能检查对于评估鼻中隔偏曲患者手术疗效具有一定的临床参考价值。
