Tricyclopentylgallium reacted with phenol, naphthol respectively to yield phenox-ide (or naphthoxide) of biscyclopentylgallium which have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectrometry. X-ray diffraction analysis of compound 1 indicated that it belongs to the monoclinic system, space groups P21/c, with cell constants 0=9.602(3), 6=14.365(7), c=11.256(4)A, and β=97.54(3)°, Z=2(dimers), R=0.0706. Compound 2 assigned to the triclinic system, space groups P1 with cell constants a=9.392(4), 6=9.928(7), c=11.263(7) A, a=112.48(5), β=104.74(4), γ=99.95(5)°, and Z=l(dimers), R=0.0526. The molecule of 1 or 2 contains an oxygen-bridged coplanar Ga2O2 four-membered ring respectively.

The antigenic determinants of trichosanthin were predicted by molecular modeling. First, the threedimensional structure model of the antigen-binding fragment of anti-trichosanthin immunoglobulin E was built on the basis of its amino-acid sequence and the known three-dimensional structure of an antibody with similar sequence. Secondly, the preferable antigen-antibody interactions were obtained based on the known three-dimensional structure of trichosanthin and of the hypervariable regions of anti-trichosanthin immunoglobulin E. Two regions in the molecular surface of trichosanthin were found to form extensive interactions with the hypervariable regions of the antibody and have been predicted to be the possible antigenic determinants: one is composed of two polypeptide segments, Ile201-Glu210 and Ile225-Asp229, which are close to each other in the three-dimensional structure; and the other is the segment Lys173-Thr178. The former region seems to be the more reasonable antigenic determinant than the latter one.

Dibromobiphenyl reacted with cynomethyl anion in ammonia under irradiation to form nucleophilic bis-substituted product in high yield without substantial monosubstituted product. Quantum yields for the formations of bis- and monosubstituted products were found to be 85.6 and 2.3×10-6 respectively, while the corresponding pseudo-first-order rates were 6.9×10-3 and 5.2×10-10 mol.L-1.S-1. Block up the possible electron transfer of 4-brome-4'-cyanomethylbiphenylyl radical anion to 4-cyanometbyl-biphenylyl radical and bromine ion.

A concise five-step approach to indolizidinones 10 and 11,two advanced intermediates for the asymmetric synthesis of polyhydroxylated indolizidine alkaloids,has been developed by using N-Cbz pyrrolidin-2-yl pyridin-2-yl sulfide 13 as the chiral building *** method features a SmI2-mediated coupling of sulfide 13 with functionalized aldehyde 14 and a tandem N-deprotection-lactamization,which constitutes a stepwise "2 + 4" annulation method for the construction of the indolizidinone ring system of 12a.

A novel and simple one-step, solid state reaction of multicomponent systems has been developed to synthesize cyclopentadienyl-containing organolanthanide complexes, in which the effects of the coordinated solvent molecules and the nature of the reactants were also studied. We also studied the solid state decomposition reaction of Cp2YbPz(HPz), and the formation of [CpYb(Pz)2]2 may indicate that the constrained environment in solid state can lead to a novel chemical transformation, with product selectivity possibly different from that in the liquid phase.
