Simulation of methane adsorption in diverse organic pores in shale reservoirs with multi-period geological evolution

In shale reservoirs,the organic pores with various structures formed during the thermal evolution of organic matter are the main storage site for adsorbed ***,in the process of thermal evolution,the adsorption characteristics of methane in multi type and multi-scale organic matter pores have not been sufficiently *** this study,the molecular simulation method was used to study the adsorption characteristics of methane based on the geological conditions of Longmaxi Formation shale reservoir in Sichuan Basin,*** results show that the characteristics of pore structure will affect the methane adsorption *** adsorption capacity of slit-pores for methane is much higher than that of cylindrical *** groove space inside the pore will change the density distribution of methane molecules in the pore,greatly improve the adsorption capacity of the pore,and increase the pressure sensitivity of the adsorption *** the variation of methane adsorption characteristics of different shapes is not consistent with pore size,all pores have the strongest methane adsorption capacity when the pore size is about 2 *** addition,the changes of temperature and pressure during the thermal evolution are also important factors to control the methane adsorption *** pore adsorption capacity first increases and then decreases with the increase of pressure,and increases with the increase of *** the early stage of thermal evolution,pore adsorption capacity is strong and pressure sensitivity is weak;while in the late stage,it is on the contrary.

TWO-DIMENSIONAL VISUALIZATION OF THE PROPAGATION SPEED OF CORTICAL SPREADING DEPRESSION IN RAT CORTEX

Cortical spreading depression(CSD),which is a significant pathological phenomenon that correlates with migraines and cerebral ischemia,has been characterized by a wave of depolarization among neuronal cells and propagates across the cortex at a rate of 2–5mm/*** the propagation pattern of CSD was well-investigated using high-resolution optical imaging technique,the variation of propagation speed of CSD across different regions of cortex was not well-concerned,partially because of the lack of ideal approach to visualize two-dimensional distribution of propagation speed of CSD over the whole imaged ***,we have presented a method to compute automatically the propagation speed of CSD throughout every spots in the imaged *** this method,temporal clustering analysis(TCA)and least square estimation(LSE)were first used to detect origin site where CSD was *** the origin site of CSD as the origin of coordinates,the data matrix of each image was transformed into the corresponding points based on the polar-coordinate ***,two fixed-distance regions of interest(ROIs)are sliding along with the radial coordinate at each polar angle within the image for calculating the time lag with correlating ***,we could draw a twodimensional image,in which the value of each pixel represented the velocity of CSD when it spread through the corresponding area of the imaged *** results demonstrated that the method can reveal the heterogeneity of propagation speed of CSD in the imaged cortex with high fidelity and intuition.

Influence of magma intrusion on gas outburst in a low rank coal mine

The effect of magma intrusion on gas outburst is illustrated by a case study of the exposed magma intru- sion in the 313 mining area, upper coal seam Number 3, in the Qiwu Mine located in Shandong province. Vitrinite reflectance, mercury injection, and maceral statistical analysis are used to characterize the coal. The aspects of coal metamorphism include changes in micro-components as well as in coal structure, the formation of new substances, and changes in gas absorption and storage. The results show that vitrinite reflectance increases within the region influenced by magma intrusion. The metamorphosed region may be divided into a weakly affected belt, a medium affected belt, a strongly affected belt, and a completely affected belt. Compared to the unaffected coal the total pore volume, as well as the amount of big and middle sized holes, increases while the number of transition holes and micro-pores decreases. This diminishes the absorption capacity of the matrix but enlarges the total gas storage space. Vitrinite con- tent initially decreases slightly but then increases rapidly while the inertinite content increases at first but then decreases. Exinite content decreases, then increases, and finally drops to zero. Higher vitrinite, and a lower inertinite, content increase gas absorption ability. This balances reduced adsorption caused by changes to pore structure. Consequently, gas adsorption capacity is not substantially reduced as the coal rank increases. Thermal metamorphism of the coal produces CH4 and other hydrocarbons that increase the total gas content in the coal seam. Asphaltene migrates into the medium and weakly affected regions filling in the pores and fractures there. This plugs the pathway for gas transport. A barrier is formed that hinders gas flow. C02, H2S, N2, and other gases carried in by the magma react to produce C02, which increases in relative concentration and enhances the risk of gas outburst. 2-A minoethyldiphenyl borate(2-APB)is the most commonly used pharmacological agent in the study of calcium release-activated channels(CRACa);however,its inhibitory mechanism to CRACs remains *** address this issue,we systematically employed confocal imaging,dual-wavelength excitation photometry and FRET to examine the effects of 2-APB on the dynamic activities and function of STIM1 and Orail,two key components of *** results support that there are two signaling pathways(Orail-independent and Orail-dependent)for the formation of STM1 puncta.2 APB could dose dependently block Orail-independent but not Oril-dependent STIM1 puncta formation,despite its obvious inhibition effect on store-opented Ca^(2+)entry(SOCE).In addition,we found that although 2-APB could not visibly alter near plasma membrane CAD-eYFP localization,it could completely block CAD-YFP-induced constitutive Ca^(2+)entry and promnote the interaction between Orail and CAD by FRET ***,we proposed that inhibitory action of 2-APB on SOCE might attribute to its direct inhbitory effects on Orail channel itself,but not the interference on puncta formation between STIM1 and Orail.

The Qiwu Mine is located in the Ten Xian coal field of Shandong *** experienced repeated volcanic activity,after the coal beds formed,where magma intrusion was significant The effect of coal reservoir porosity after magma intrusion was studied by analysis of regional and mine structure and magmatic *** methods including maceral measurement under the microscope and mercury porosimetry were used for testing the pore *** authors believe that magma intrusion into low-rank bituminous coal causes reservoir porosity to gradually increase：the closer to the magmatic rock a sample is,the less the *** pore size distribution also *** the natural coal bed the pore size is mainly in the transitive and middle pore ***,the coal changes to anthracite next to the magmatic rock and larger pores *** magma thermal evolution caused coal close to magmatic rock to be roasted,which reduced the volatile matter,developed larger holes,and destroyed plant tissue *** primary reason for a porosity decrease in the vicinity of magmatic rock is that Bituminite resulting from the roasting fills the holes that were present initially.

The study and exploration practice of shale gas accumulation has focused on the static system comparison,key parameters analysis,reservoir characteristics,enrichment mode ***,the research on dynamic recovery from the original hydrocarbon generation of shale gas to the present gas reservoir is still *** burial history of shale gas reservoir can reflect the overall dynamic process of early formation and later transformation of shale gas *** controls the material basis of shale gas,the quality of reservoir physical properties,preservation conditions,gas content and formation energy,which is the core and foundation of shale gas accumulation process ***,based on the five typical wells data in the Northeast Yunnan,including geochronological data,measured Ro values,core description records,well temperature data,paleoenvironment,paleothermal,etc.,the burial history,thermal evolution history and hydrocarbon generation history of the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation were systematically restored via back stripping method and EASY%Ro *** results show that 1)the differences in the burial history of marine shale in Longmaxi Formation can be divided into syncline type and anticline type.2)The shale gas accumulation process can be divided into four stages,namely the sourcereservoir-cap sedimentation period,initial accumulation period,main accumulation period,and adjustment period.3)Based on the characteristics of burial history and preservation conditions,the areas with wide and gentle anticline,far away from the denudation area,and buried deeply with good fault sealing ability are priority structural locations for the shale gas exploration in northeast Yunnan.

Pore structure and heterogeneity of shale gas reservoirs and its effect on gas storage capacity in the Qiongzhusi Formation

Fine characterization of pore systems and heterogeneity of shale reservoirs are significant contents of shale gas reservoir physical property research. The research on micro-control factors of low productivity in the Qiongzhusi Formation(Fm.) is still controversial. The lower Cambrian Qiongzhusi Fm. in the Qujing, Yunnan was taken as the object to investigate the influence of mineral compositions on the physical properties of the reservoir and the heterogeneity of shale, using the algorithm to improve the characterization ability of Atomic Force Microscopy(AFM). The results showed that:(1) The pores are mainly wedge-shaped pores and V-shaped pores. The pore diameter of the main pore segment ranges from 5 to 10 nm. Mesopores are mainly developed in the Qiongzhusi Fm. shale in Well QD1, with the average pore diameter of 6.08 nm.(2) Microscopic pore structure and shale surface properties show strong heterogeneity, which complicates the micro-migration of shale gas and increases the difficulty of identifying high-quality reservoirs.(3) The increase of clay mineral content intensifies the compaction and then destroys the pores. Conversely, brittle minerals can protect pores. The support and protection of brittle minerals to pores space depend on their content, mechanical properties and diagenesis.(4)Compression damage to pores, large microscopic roughness and surface fluctuations and strong pore structure heterogeneity are the reasons for the poor gas storage capacity of the Qiongzhusi Fm., which will lead to poor productivity in the Qiongzhusi Fm.

Variation of repetitive cortical spreading depression waves is related with relative refractory period： a computational study

Cortical spreading depression （CSD） is an important experimental model for diseases such as stroke, epilepsy and migraine. Previous observations indicated that the amplitude and velocity of the typical direct current potential shift during repetitive CSD waves were varying. The recovery state of the tissue was found related with the variation of successive CSD waves. A computational model in this paper aimed to investigate the role of relative refractory period of CSD. This model simulated that continuous injection of KCI solution induced repetitive CSD waves. The first CSD wave often had a larger amplitude and faster velocity than those of the succeeding secondary waves. The relative refractory period lasted much longer than the recovery of ions turbulence. If the induction interval was long enough for recovery, a series of CSD waves would have the same profile asthe first one. In the relative refractory period, an early stimulation might lead to a late initiation of CSD, i.e., ＂haste makes waste＂. The amplitude and velocity of CSD waves were found increasing with the initiation interval and asymptotic to those of the first CSD wave. This study verified that the propagation dynamics of CSD waves is modulated by the relative refractory period. It suggested that the refractory period is critical for preventing undesirable CSD waves.

Hydrocarbon Generation Evolution of Permo-Carboniferous Rocks of the Bohai Bay Basin in China

The Bohai Bay Basin is a Mesozoic subsidence and Cenozoic rift basin in the North China Craton. Since the deposition of the Permo-Carboniferous hydrocarbon source rock, the basin has undergone many tectonic events. The source rocks have undergone non-uniform uplift, twisting, deep burying, and magmatism and that led to an interrupted or stepwise during the evolution of hydrocarbon source rocks. We have investigated the Permo-Carboniferous hydrocarbon source rocks history of burying, heating, and hydrocarbon generation, not only on the basis of tectonic disturbance and deeply buried but also with new studies on apatite fission track analysis, fluid inclusion measurements, and the application of the numerical simulation of EASY % Ro. The heating temperature of the source rocks continued to rise from the Indosinian to Himalayan stage and reached a maximum at the Late Himalayan. This led to the stepwise increases during organic maturation and multiple stages of hydrocarbon generation. The study delineated the tectonic stages, the intensity of hydrocarbon generation and spatial and temporal distribution of hydrocarbon generations. The hydrocarbon generation occurred during the Indosinian, Yanshanian, and particularly Late Himalayan. The hydrocarbon generation during the late Himalayan stage is the most important one for the Permo-Carboniferous source rocks of the Bohai Bay Basin in China.

Cortical spreading depression(CSD)is a pathophysiological *** are sufficient evidences to prove that CSD plays an important role in some neurological ***,exact mechanisms of its initiation and propagation are still *** studies showed that glutamate receptors could be concerned with CSD,but those studies were mostly performed oriented to ionotropic glutamate receptors(iGluRs).There is relatively little report about effects of metabotropic glutamate receptors(mGluRs)on ***,we applied optical intrinsic signal imaging(OISI)combined with direct current(DC)potential recording to examine influences of some mGluRs antagonist(or agonist)on CSD propagation in rat’s brain,to indirectly validate actions of some mGluRs on *** found that N-acetyl-l-aspartyl-l-glutamate(NAAG,an agonist at mGluR3)inhibited the propagation of CSD,and the inhibition was gradually developed with ***,6-methyl-2-phenylethynyl-pyridine(MPEP,an antagonist of mGluR5)did not produce any significant alterations with the CSD *** findings suggest that mGluR3 could play an important role in the CSD propagation,but the activity of mGluR5 was comparatively *** findings can help to understand the propagation mechanism of CSD,and consider the therapy of some neurological diseases involved with CSD.
