BACKGROUND The optimal time interval between neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy(nCRT)and esophagectomy in esophageal cancer has not been *** To evaluate whether a prolonged time interval between the end of nCRT and surgery has an effect on survival outcome in esophageal cancer *** We searched PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,the Cochrane Library,Wanfang and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases for relevant articles published before November 16,2019,to identify potential studies that evaluated the prognostic role of different time intervals between nCRT and surgery in esophageal *** hazard ratios and 95%confidence intervals(95%CI)were merged to estimate the correlation between the time intervals and survival outcomes in esophageal cancer,esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma using fixed-and random-effect *** This meta-analysis included 12621 patients from 16 *** results demonstrated that esophageal cancer patients with a prolonged time interval between the end of nCRT and surgery had significantly worse overall survival(OS)[hazard ratio(HR):1.107,95%CI:1.014-1.208,P=0.023]than those with a shorter time *** analysis showed that poor OS with a prolonged interval was observed based on both the sample size and *** was also significant association between a prolonged time interval and decreased OS in Asian,but not Caucasian *** addition,a longer wait time indicated worse OS(HR:1.385,95%CI:1.186-1.616,P<0.001)in patients with *** A prolonged time interval from the completion of nCRT to surgery is associated with a significant decrease in ***,esophagectomy should be performed within 7-8 wk after nCRT.

AIM: To evaluate the benefit and safety of sivelestat(a neutrophil elastase inhibitor) administration in patients undergoing esophagectomy. METHODS: Online databases including Pub Med, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, Web of Knowledge, and Chinese databases(Wanfang database, VIP and CNKI) were searched systematically up to November 2013. Randomized controlled trials and high-qualitycomparative studies were considered eligible for inclusion. Three reviewers evaluated the methodological quality of the included studies, and Stata 12.0 software was used to analyze the extracted data. The risk ratio(RR) was used to express the effect size of dichotomous outcomes, and mean difference(MD) or standardized mean difference was used to express the effect size of continuous ***: Thirteen studies were included in this systematic review and nine studies were included in the meta-analysis. The duration of mechanical ventilation was significantly decreased in the sivelestat group on postoperative day 5 [I2 = 76.3%, SMD =-1.41, 95%CI:-2.63-(-0.19)]. Sivelestat greatly lowered the incidence of acute lung injury in patients after surgery(I2 = 0%, RR = 0.27, 95%CI: 0.08-0.93). However, it did not decrease the incidence of pneumonia, intensive care unit stay or postoperative hospital stay, and did not increase the incidence of complications such as anastomotic leakage, recurrent nerve palsy, wound infection, sepsis and catheter-related fever. CONCLUSION: A neutrophil elastase inhibitor is beneficial in patients undergoing esophagectomy. More high quality, large sample, multi-center and randomized controlled trials are needed to validate this effect.

The development of flexible supercapacitors(FSCs) capable of operating at high temperatures is crucial for expanding the application areas and operating conditions of supercapacitors. Gel polymer electrolytes and electrode materials stand as two key components that significantly impact the efficacy of hightemperature-tolerant FSCs(HT-FSCs). They should not only exhibit high electrochemical performance and excellent flexibility, but also withstand intense thermal stress. Considerable efforts have been devoted to enhancing their thermal stability while maintaining high electrochemical and mechanical performance. In this review, the fundamentals of HT-FSCs are outlined. A comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art progress and achievements in HT-FSCs, with a focus on thermally stable gel polymer electrolytes and electrode materials is provided. Finally, challenges and future perspectives regarding HT-FSCs are discussed, alongside strategies for elevating operational temperatures and *** review offers both theoretical foundations and practical guidelines for designing and manufacturing HT-FSCs, further promoting their widespread adoption across diverse fields.

Low-cost and fluoride-free synthesis of MFI zeolite nanosheets with enhanced stability for benzene alkylation with ethanol

Zeolite nanosheets with a short b-axis thickness are highly desirable in lots of catalytic reactions due to their reduced diffusion resistance. Nevertheless, conventional synthesis methods usually require expensive structure-directing agents(SDAs), pricey raw materials, and eco-unfriendly fluorine-containing additives. Here, we contributed a cost-effective and fluoride-free synthesis method for synthesizing high-quality MFI zeolite nanosheets through a Silicalite-1(Sil-1) seed suspension and urea cooperative strategy, only with inexpensive colloidal silica as the Si source. Our approach was effective for synthesizing both Sil-1 and aluminum-containing ZSM-5 nanosheets. By optimizing key synthesis parameters,including seed aging time, seed quantity, and urea concentration, we achieved precise control over the crystal face aspect ratio and b-axis thickness. We also revealed a non-classical oriented nanosheet growth mechanism, where Sil-1 seeds induced the formation of quasi-ordered precursor particles, and the(010)crystal planes of these particles facilitated urea adsorption, thereby promoting c-axis-oriented *** obtained ZSM-5 nanosheets exhibited exceptional catalytic performance in the benzene alkylation with ethanol, maintaining stability for over 500 h, which is 5 times longer than traditional ZSM-5 catalysts. Furthermore, large-scale production of ZSM-5 nanosheets was successfully carried out in a 3 L highpressure autoclave, yielding samples consistent with those from laboratory-scale synthesis. This work marks a significant step forward in the sustainable and efficient production of MFI nanosheets using inexpensive and environmentally friendly raw materials, offering the broad applicability in catalysis.
