Appraisal of CO2 storage potential in compressional hydrocarbon-bearing basins: Global assessment and case study in the Sichuan Basin(China)

Carbon capture and storage(CCS)has been proposed as a potential technology to mitigate climate ***,there is currently a huge gap between the current global deployment of this technology and that which will be ultimately *** CO2 can be captured at any geographic location,storage of CO2 will be constrained by the geological storage potential in the area the CO2 is *** geological storage potential can be evaluated at a very high level according to the tectonic setting of the target *** date,CCS deployment has been restricted to more favourable tectonic settings,such as extensional passive margin and post-rift basins and compressional foreland ***,to reach the adequate level of deployment,the potential for CCS of regions in different tectonic settings needs to be explored and assessed ***,the potential of compressional basins for carbon storage has not been universally evaluated according to the global and regional carbon emission ***,we present an integrated source-to-sink analysis tool that combines comprehensive,open-access information on basin distribution,hydrocarbon resources and CO2 emissions based on geographical information systems(GIS).Compressional settings host some of the most significant hydrocarbon-bearing basins and 36% of inland CO2 emissions but,to date,large-scale CCS facilities in compressional basins are concentrated in North America and the Middle East *** source-to-sink tool allows identifying five high-priority regions for prospective CCS development in compressional basins:North America,north-western South America,south-eastern Europe,the western Middle East and western *** present a study of the characteristics of these areas in terms of CO2 emissions and CO2 storage ***,we conduct a detailed case-study analysis of the Sichuan Basin(China),one of the compressional basins with the greatest CO2 storage *** results indicate that c

The design of alloys for use in gas turbine engine blades is a complex task that involves balancing multiple objectives and *** alloys must be ductile at room temperature and retain their yield strength at high temperatures,as well as possess low density,high thermal conductivity,narrow solidification range,high solidus temperature,and a small linear thermal expansion *** Integrated Computational Materials Engineering(ICME)methods are not sufficient for exploring combinatorially-vast alloy design spaces,optimizing for multiple objectives,nor ensuring that multiple constraints are *** this work,we propose an approach for solving a constrained multi-objective materials design problem over a large composition space,specifically focusing on the Mo-Nb-Ti-V-W system as a representative Multi-Principal Element Alloy(MPEA)for potential use in next-generation gas turbine *** approach is able to learn and adapt to unknown constraints in the design space,making decisions about the best course of action at each stage of the *** a result,we identify 21 Pareto-optimal alloys that satisfy all *** proposed framework is significantly more efficient and faster than a brute force approach.

Using a barotropic, steady and linearised vorticity equation and using 250 hPa observed basic flow and global divergence fifeld ffrom the active summer monsoon phase (00 GMT 26 June-12 GMT 29 June) 1979, the dynamical effects of linear absolute vorticity advection, vorticity generation due to divergence and vorticity dissipation due to frictional damping have been tested to understand their influence on Southern Asiatic High (SAH). The key experimental results art: (1) The SAH, one of the maior planetary-scale disturbances, is generated from the upper basic flow by the forcing of the upper tropospheric divergence over southeast Asia during the active summer monsoon phase, (2) Linear absolute vorticity advection and frictional damping of vorticity play an important role in the determination of the location of the SAH. (3) The destruction and recovery of planetary-scale geostrophic balance is an important mechanism for the west-east oscillation of the SAH.

Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT) lymphoma of the liver is a very rare condition and thus the diag-nosis may be challeng-ing-. The clinical presentation is usually variable, rang-ing- from minimal clinical symptoms to severe end stag-e liver disease. In this paper, we describe the clinicopatholog-ic finding-s in two cases of primary hepatic MALT lymphoma. One case is an 80-year-old female with no underlying- chronic liver disease and the second case is a 30-year-old female with autoimmune hepatitis complicated by MALT lymphoma. In both specimens, there was diffuse infiltration of atypical B-lymphocytes that were positive for CD20 and CD79 a, but neg-ative for CD5, CD43 and CD10. There were occasional lymphoepithelial lesions involving- the hepatocytes or bile ducts. Polymerase chain reaction analysis showed monoclonal immunog-lobulin heavy chain g-ene rearrang-ement in both cases. The first case was treated with surg-ery but developed pulmonary recurrence a year after complete resection but went into remission following- treatment with rituximab. A second recurrence occurred in the rig-ht parotid g-land 7 years later, which was treated with idelalisib. The second case was effectively treated with rituximab. To our knowledg-e, the second case is the first reported case linked to autoimmune hepatitis.

Photocatalytic degradation of the dye sulforhodamine-B: A comparative study of different light sources

The photocatalytic degradation of dye pollutant sulforhodamine-B （SRB） in aqueous titanium dioxide （TiO2） dispersions was examined under three lighting regimes： UV light （330 nm〈λ〈 380 nm）, sunlight, and visible light （λ〉450 nm）, all investigated at pH=2.5. Total organic carbon （TOC） and chemical oxygen demand （CODer） assays show that the degradation rate of SRB is much higher when irradiated with UV and sunlight compared with visible light. The temporal concentration changes of SRB illustrated a first-order reaction and the rate constant, k, is 0.197 min^-1, 0.152 min^-1, 0.027 min^-1, respectively, under the three lighting conditions. The final mineralized products were amine compounds identified by infrared spectrophotometry. When irradiated with visible light, the photocatalytic degradation rate could be improved by lowering the H2O2 concentration and inhibited by increasing the H2O2 concentration, but results contrary to the above were obtained when UV light was used for irradiation.

Objective:To determine the chemical profile and steroids composition of the medicinally important plant Aerva lanata(***) ***:Preliminary phytochemicul screening was done by the method as Harborne *** studies were canied out as Harborne and Wagner et al *** Ethyl acetate-ethanol-water(8:2:1.2) was employed as mobile phase for ***:The desired aim was achieved using Chloroform-acetone(8:2) as the mobile *** methanolic extract of stem,leaves,root,flower and seeds of *** showed the presence of 30 different types of steroids with 30 different Rf values from 0.04 to 0.97. Maximum number(11) of steroids has been observed in leaves followed by root(10).Conclusions: HPTLC profile of steroids has been chosen here to reveal the diversity existing in *** finger printing is useful in differentiating the species from the adulterant and act as biochemical markers for this medicinally important plant in the pharma industry and plant systematic studies.

In this paper we report the synthesis and activation of OS-6 raft-llke planar clusters. The activated OS-66 raft-like clusters [OS-66(CO)_(20)(MeCN)] and [OS-66(CO)_(19) (MeCN)_2] have been prepared by involving PdCl_2 as catalyst. Trimethylamine oxide (Me_3NO) has been used as an activation reagent to oxidize several carbonyl ligands coordinated in the activated clusters and to get a series of activated OS-66 raft-like clusters [OS-66(CO)_(21-x)(MeCN)_x] (n = 1--5) and corresponding substituted clusters [OS-66(CO)_(21-x)(P(OMe)_3)_x] (n=1--5). The structures of these OS-66 raft-like clusters have been characterized by the infrared spectra (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectra (NMR) and mass spectra (MS), and the characters of the raft-like planar structure and reactivity above have also been discussed in this paper.

Near shore waves,long-shore currents and sediment transport along micro-tidal beaches,central west coast of India

Coastlines are undergoing constant geomorphologic changes with respect to the incident wave *** on waves measured at 9 m water depth,simulation of near shore wave transformation is done using REFDIF-1numerical model and the near shore breaker parameters are estimated at two micro-tidal beaches along central west coast of *** results are validated with measured *** the breaker parameters,long-shore current and long-shore sediment transport rates(LSTR) are computed by using semi-empirical *** long-shore current and LSTR are showing dramatic variations with respect to *** direction of LSTR is observed towards north since the approach waves are from south-west direction during pre-monsoon and post *** monsoon season,waves are from west south-west and resulted in southerly *** estimated annual net and gross LSTR by Cambridge Environmental Research Consultants(CERC) at two locations are in the same order whereas LSTR estimated by Walton & Bruno and Kamphuis equations are showing different estimations because of difference in surf-zone width and foreshore slope between the two *** micro-tidal beaches with length less than 6 km,Kamphuis equation is giving agreeable estimation of *** analysis of LSTR estimate shows that coastal inclination is the prominent factor in determining LSTR than incident wave angle.
